  1. LEGO would make money from the people who ARE buying sets, same as has always been the case. There are hundreds of thousands of adults who don't buy Lego—the fact that some of them stopped buying as adults instead of as children doesn't make them that much more valuable to Lego's bottom line.
  2. Even if they couldn't... there's an "unworn" Classic Space logo print hidden in his torso as well!
  3. So apparently in addition to the worn classic space logo from the front of his torso, the newly revealed Benny BrickHeadz figure has a 1x4 brick with a pristine Classic Space logo built into his torso!
  4. That didn't stop them from including a wide variety of more prominent characters and cameos in the first one who didn't appear in sets (the most obvious ones being a new never-released version of Shaquille O'Neal and the rare SDCC exclusive Green Lantern). The same goes for The Lego Batman Movie, which featured a wide assortment of unreleased characters. I guess it's not impossible that Fabuland characters might make an appearance. But if they did, I'm almost certain that they'd end up being substitutions with modern minifigure parts and new head molds, rather than bringing back the chunky preassembled bodies of the classic figures. That'd be a heck of a taller order than just redesigning helmets for the classic space characters.
  5. Yeah, the likelihood of getting Fabuland characters (especially ones that use all of the same molds as the originals) is extremely unlikely. Keep in mind that this is not a set but rather a live-action prop, and as such there's no guarantee of the figures or model itself being 100% accurate to those that will appear in the actual sets.
  6. Not sure if this goes better in set discussion or movie discussion, since it concerns both the movie props and the final sets... but Brick Fanatics has shared videos from The Lego House's new exhibition about The Lego Movie 2 in which designers discuss the development work that went into designing the movie's settings, props, and characters, including lots and lots of concept models! Really fascinating stuff! https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-house-opens-the-lego-movie-2-behind-the-scenes-exhibition/
  7. Short answer? Yes. This is one of the first songs in the movie (besides the "Everything is Awesome" tween dream remix), and was enough to swing my opinion from "kind of weird that they decided to make this movie a musical" to "it's a shame the other Lego Movies HAVEN'T been musicals". The clever lyrics, catchy music, and amazing visuals all working hand in hand really sold me on the whole concept.
  8. Sorry, just got weird chills—that dealership is near my hometown.
  9. Not only would that not be good business to stop it while it's still selling well, I can only imagine that if Lego "gave it a break" like that the licensing rights would mysteriously get more expensive when they went back to the negotiating table to reacquire it.
  10. Like Lego, it's not always enough to have the parts, you have to know how they fit together.
  11. Looked copper metallic to me too. Great if so to finally get some non-accessory pieces in that color. We haven't seen any of the physical Lego Movie 2 summer sets yet besides the very sci-fi Rexcelsior, but if teen vampire DJ Balthazar shows up in one of them (which I'd consider likely), his Trans. Blue with Glitter hairpiece could be good either for a fantasy fig or even as just a sparkly crystal. That goes double if the other two spa vampires show up, since they have at least one (maybe two) other similar hairpieces in Trans. Purple with glitter.
  12. Just built the "Introducing Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi" set! Had to pick that one up after seeing the movie. Fun little build, though I kind of wish it had actual fabric waterfalls like the platform she appears on in the movie. I guess I can understand how that might've been outside the set's budget, especially since that probably would have needed the platform to be built up taller as well.
  13. Because a lot of adult Lego fans tend to prefer collecting and displaying sets versus actually playing with them. For them, their concern tends to be less about role play scenarios and more about what new content a set offers that can be integrated into an existing display, which often comes down to just the figures in the case of a vehicle they already have a version of, or a partial scene that isn't necessarily easy to integrate with an existing display. But despite that kind of builder tending to be more visible in the adult fan community, they are a niche audience compared to the many kids who don't already have a large collection of sets and consequently will spend more time playing and interacting with a new one.
  14. And with the release date of the movie fast approaching, we're starting to get officially released clips of the movie to promote it as well!
  15. This. Not that I couldn't normally sympathize with even that... except for the fact that, instead of temporarily obliging the cease and desist notice and trying to appeal to the company to reconsider, he had a public tantrum where he made a big show of renouncing the brand and turned an incredibly minor legal dispute, which could have been resolved easily via better communication, into an overblown media firestorm. But I guess when your audience is big enough that kind of self-important, juvenile behavior ends up paying off. So good on him, I suppose.
  16. Yeah, at best I imagine that these, like some of the older City Space sets, will include a Classic Space-inspired mission logo (probably with the red spaceship logo orbiting Mars or whatnot).
  17. You know, I hadn't originally noticed how the streaks in Flashback Wyldstyle's hair aren't just in the front, but rather are continued across her entire hairpiece including the ponytail. That's actually really cool.
  18. I'm amused by the fact that pretty much any ambiguous new theme information tends to get put in Action Themes until we find out what it actually is. Personally I plan to wait on more info, because the image there is is hardly enough to go on to even tell if it's a new theme at all, or something different like an app or game of some sort.
  19. Yeah, hoping to get Balthazar and his aides in the spa (maybe the Zen Bunny Brickheadz figure seen in one of the books as well?) and some of Queen Watevra's guards in her set (I also can't help but wonder what form she'll take in that set). I have a suspicion about what at least some of the three unnamed sets might be, but since it's a spoiler I won't say anything.
  20. Good review! I really like this set and hope to pick it up at some point. Considering the gas tanks in the café seem to serve coffee, I kind of wonder if the tanks outside store coffee as well. Certainly less of a hazard if so! This doesn't bother me as much since a little color variation, like the variation of Olive Green and Sand Green for the body, simply gives the impression of discoloration from age. Hey now, people argue enough about whether a hot dog is a sandwich... I think a harpoon in a hot dog bun is even more debatable. Looks to me like the ball joint is meant to allow it to be placed at an angle along the sloping base. Five years working in retail changes a person.
  21. I didn't ever consider this before but now I agree that it would've fit perfectly. I get that, but even the fight to get back into Garmadon's occupied city leading up to that felt rushed and a bit lacking. I'm fine with a non-violent resolution (and in fact that was one of the things I liked about the movie), but nevertheless so much of the most intense action being frontloaded at the beginning of the movie made the whole movie feel unbalanced in a weird way, almost like the movie's emotional arc and its dramatic arc were inverted instead of going hand in hand. Compared to the previous Lego movies, which I adored without reservation and returned to watch multiple times, I walked out of the theater for TLNM feeling slightly confused and dissatisfied, for reasons that were much more complex and hard to pin down than just the dissimilarity to the TV series.
  22. There's the things you mention, but there's also just some weird things about the movie. As action goes, the movie starts strong with a giant mech battle and then... the rest of the movie gets smaller and more contemplative, culminating in a final battle that isn't really much of a battle at all. It's an odd choice to say the least—most movies would start with the human-scale martial arts scenes and build up a massive mech battle for the climax, whereas the Ninjago movie does the exact opposite without any obvious benefit to doing it that way. There's also the fact that it focuses on the father-son relationship between Lloyd and Garmadon to the exclusion of almost every other character, whereas the TV series does a much better job of balancing its ensemble cast. I didn't hate the Ninjago Movie (and in fact will defend many of its differences from the TV canon if it comes to that, despite being a huge fan of the TV show) but it also didn't quite match the excellence of The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie in my eyes. It was just okay, which makes it pale in comparison to the rest of its pedigree.
  23. If the only way you were going to like it was if it was focused on Classic Space content, then all they did was save you a trip to the theater for a movie that would end up disappointing you one way or another.
  24. Sigh... as a 20-something college student, I really wish the Enfield location had more entry-level positions available. So much demand for management, so little for a huge fan who just wants to get their foot in the door and get a chance to prove their worth.
  25. Sorry... didn't think it was any more spoilery than the comment I was replying to... I've removed it just to be safe.
