I will most likely buy the elven castle, especially for my two girls. But look at those castles and compare them ... The problem is most importantly the color. I mean, they made pink stone elements (!) in the elven castle. If they had let them grey ... *cry*

This is absolutely great. In the moment the best "weird" tower (it remindes me of some orkish tribe or something similar) I have seen. I have to ask this: did you manage to build everything with "legal" LEGO building techniques?

Starting a Lego city...which tables to buy?
blackie replied to yg33's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hi, I personally use these from IKEA: http://www.ikea.com/de/de/catalog/products/20011413/ They are cheap (6€ per piece) and you can easily change the entire form of your build. I have about 16 of them. What's also nice for me is that they are quite small in height since my LEGO is on the attic and the roof at the sides of the room prevents me from using higher tables. But I can really suggest using these tables. Also, if you have children, they can reach the LEGO on top of the tables. -
Hey cool, thank you for the info!

My wife and I made an agreement that I may spend 150€ per month for LEGO. It didn't work.

Now that's a great layout. Did you use some kind of tool for the planning (the pictures in your opening post) or just photoshop / some other image editor / vector editor?

Gauging Interest: Control Board for Two Three-Aspect Signals
blackie replied to Phoxtane's topic in LEGO Train Tech
No, you should directly order from aliexpress. A collegue of mine is doing this and he always orders a dozen of them. Some are broken, but in general they work fine.- 14 replies

Gauging Interest: Control Board for Two Three-Aspect Signals
blackie replied to Phoxtane's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Why are you using this chip? You could use one of these small arduino nanos for a few cents per piece and they are much smaller. Or can't you use them?- 14 replies

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
blackie replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
What is the text in the Italian forum saying? The picture is a MOC from some member right? Because it clearly looks nothing like a modular LEGO would ever produce. So he just built it after what he saw from his salesman? Kind of hard to believe for me anyway ... -
Just fyi: here in Germany, Chima is also a brick on the shelves. Some sets of course were sold and successful, but especially those sets mentioned in this thread are 50% off on sale here and you can buy them, no one does ...

Ok Galidor, that's beyond all question. You are right, I should make this more clear: I think Angry Birds is the worst in the last years. During the time of Galidor and some other really bad themes, I didn't care for LEGO so I missed all of this.
-
Yep, for me too, this year is LEGO disappointment - a huge one. It's not because of single sets, but because of the entire themes that are available. I don't put much hope into City sets, but for example, in the last years, there were nice Ninjago sets that I could buy as historical sets. The Ninjago City, Dojo, something like this. I almost exclusively want buildings, and historical ones are the greatest. However, what's currently available is just nothing for me. Then again, let's look at the themes. I think Angry Birds is the worst theme I have ever seen and when I heard it comes, I thought this was a joke. When I saw the pictures .... Well, some Creator sets are ok, but overall I really hope there is something new coming. Hopefully something that can be used for historical buildings / scenes, but I am open to so many themes. But the current offers are just not what I am looking for. Btw: Has anyone any information about new themes (not sets, but entire themes) that might be coming end of this year or next year? Any rumors yet?

Is LEGO promoting non-purist thinking?
blackie replied to SevenStuds's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Actually, where is the problem? I light my LEGO houses with non-LEGO LEDs (oh my god!) and I even use an Arduino to control it (oooaaahh ...) ... Some people have problems .... -

Hi, I'm interested in where do you have this info from. I was also looking for the new sets in stores (not only NK but also the new creator ones) and couldn't find anything yet.

So nice! About an hour ago I watched a documentary about the enigma and now I saw your build. This coincidence :)

Thank you for your feedback!

Here is a simple and small MOC in a medieval fantasy world (actually inspired by games like Skyrim). The idea is that the heroes return to their home after a long and hard looting :) The build is part of a series of sets I currently plan all related to this medieval fantasy world and with these kind of role playing backgrounds. There is the bed and a small table as well as a fire place on the floor where fish can be cooked. In the chest, there is some of the stuff taken by our heroes.
-
I am also not sure if you can judge by the stuff lying in the shelves. However, here in Germany I actually saw almost no LOTR/Hobbit sets in the local stores at all. I could order them from amazon / Lego / whatever some stores but locally ... almost nothing. I always thought that these sets were some kind of exclusive or rare, just from the start. Third party stores had higher prices as well.
-
Just of interest: are there any official numbers out? Any rumors? I searched once but didn't find anything. I read multiple times now that castle and LOTR didn't sell that well, but is there any kind of proof?

The Old Cemetery laid forgotten in the Dark Forest for many years. Time has left its traces and the graves and paths are now slendered with weeds and plants. Only the Black Altar was not touched by anything alive. Nobody thought of the darkness and evil that once spread from this place and may do so again in a not so distant future ... Liliana grabbed her Greater Glass Staff of Malediction and her Frozen Grimoire and blazed her trail towards the Old Cemetery. Her cat followed her every step. Once she arrived at the Old Cemetery, she headed to the Black Altar. "Just the same as when I left you back then" she whispered. She placed the Frozen Grimoire on the black stone and began the Dark Ritual by speaking the magic words: For the evil one should fear It's the menace that comes near To take vengeance on those who despise Come out my precious beast and rise! For a short moment, silence covered the place. Did it work? Has evil finally returned? Is it alive? Is it dead? Neither. The Dark Ritual has been accomplished.

Now that's a nice build! One of the best waterfalls I have seen so far. Besides, nice details on the layers of earth :)
