To do something similar with PF, one can use two genuine LEGO parts, the old 9v battery box together with the 9v to PF extension wire Voilà, a cheap and smaller rechargeable 1000 mAh battery box with high and stable voltage output

Battery-driven trains can run on 9v metal track but rail-powered trains can't run on plastic track. So best of both worlds really- 199 replies

Yeah, the charger is pretty expensive but not the batteries. And beware the total voltage which is in the vicinity of 1,8-1,9v per battery or 10,8-11,4v in total the first couple of minutes after fully recharging. The LEGO PF motors can handle this for the short duration but older components and other brands might struggle and need the batteries to discharge a bit

The train windows and matching glass I have bought from BlueBrixx which haven't been produced by LEGO in a long time have all been the same overall quality as genuine LEGO ones. Slightly better in a few aspects (color consistency) and slightly worse in a few others (tolerance). I can buy 40-50 new tan train windows from BlueBrixx for the price of 1 genuine one on BrickLink. Or in colors never available as genuine ones. It's the same story with the matching glass and other rare out-of-production train parts. The one BlueBrixx train set I bought out of curiosity was a very mixed bag. Lovely design, incredible part-to-price ratio, most parts were good to great but a few were below average, not the best quality control regarding scratches, some odd amateurish stability issues, truly horrible building experience where some steps couldn't even be built as intended in the building instructions. Never again. To me BlueBrixx is a no-brainer in some areas but very much hit and miss elsewhere.

Fixed I haven't tried to cut open the adapter but I'm pretty there isn't any electronics inside it.

Fx Bricks (Michael Gale) announces Fx Track system
dtomsen replied to HoMa's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Great and exciting news, Michael But you need to move on that EU distributor fast imo. I think there are a lot more 9v holdouts here in Europe (especially Germany) than in North America with the potential to be the biggest market for FX Bricks. We also have more well-established 3rd party track competitors with access to large scaled Chinese manufacturering. -
If I can capture a detail without exaggerating too much, I'll try to when doing models of real stock. Exaggerating is the operative word here and where it usually goes wrong in my opinion. The goal is models, not caricatures. Often a model is better off without a tiny detail than with one - and looks better overall too Imagination is a powerful tool and can usually fill out the blanks.

The Blacksmith looks nice enough but it has gone from sublime model to a simplified play set ? I do understand the commercial aspects but the set should've been discarded during the review phase if it couldn't be realized even somewhat close to the original imo.

I tried with the 7-wide version of my DSB Litra MK and found the AAA battery box just that tad to big to hide whatever I did, both height and width -
Lovely !
