There is no reason SC couldnt survive with a new lead designer, there is plenty design examples in the existing sets to draw from, and in the end these sets arent terribly complicated anyway, as long as SC keeps selling, i see no reason to worry

Now that would be brilliant, its such a shame that lego is so reliant on stickers for the SC line, and those stickers are hard to come by Making a 312t2 without this set is going to be hard or impossible

Im not 100% sure on the sportscar, i cant find the green stripes (or side number) to confirm the #71 (or #51) 488GTE, but the old F1 car looks like a shoe-in. This lineup is looking brilliant, the fact that we get a 919H as a small set makes me 100% OK with skipping the large porsche pit last year, but im affraid i wont be able to skip this years big ferrari set , my wallet is weeping already. And ill somehow need to make space for an extra 9 cars in my display

That is the wrong 488, this is the GTE (Run by AF corse in WEC), not the GT3 Could it also be a T2? For me personally the T2 is much more iconic due to the lauda/hunt episode

i dont usually care much for forklifts/cranes, but im still sour over missing 42042, so maybe the new crane will work for me 83 also intrigues me, if its a porsche sized car, im hoping its a ferrari or similar, with the tech done right, but time will tell -
i know, i dont follow imsa, but i do follow wec/le-mans, where the same car comes out

that rsr is indeed the obvious one, the turbo would be awesome, much better then another new 911 regarding the gto, i think a 488gto would be a weird choice for the big set, considering the gt3, but that set is still a bit of an unknown, id prefer an older car, like a 288gto or f40

yup, although the price increase may have just been a general increase for my country, i saw a direct correlation between the extra parts in 2016 and the higher price

Thanks for those pictures, and confirmation on the colour, finally! Despite already known that its light on function, i still keep being disappointed every time i take a close look, this set isnt any more functional then 42037, adding just opening doors for nearly twice the price... Ill probably end up modding the hell out of this set if i get it, but we are getting to the point where i wonder how much of the original car should remain, and whether im better off just buying parts and building a MOC
-
Yeah, the loose set is the GT3 you linked (which i wonder about how it will stand out from the 458GT2), but Azani said the big Ferrari garage includes a 250GTO and a "488 GT", which would make sense to be the upcoming GTO The cars in the big set are so far the only somewhat unknown factor here, and off course the exact looks of for instance the 911s etc..

Technic 2018 Set Discussion

knowing lego, it is probably the totally new colour "Light greyish blue", which will be used in two more technic sets, and then never heard from again -
That is because this years F1 cars were revealed in ~february, that is not enough lead time to release sets on march 1st, and F1 cars are kept very very secret for competitive reasons The 720s was another case, obviously lego had inside knowledge before the reveal, considering the lego set dropped right after

I only come here for the speed champions news topics, the City theme doesnt really interest me besides some small cars/planes, and i just see those whenever they show up

Well, in that case i can say im happy to get the 919H in a non-burdened-with-sidebuilds set, the 911s are a sure buy as well as long as its the $40 set and not the $55 set, the fords are lower on the list, but will get bought as well, although after the Ferraris/Porsches As for the Ferraris, i wonder how much the 488gt3 and 458GT2 from the first wave will differ, and i would hope the ultimate garage has more to offer then a 488GTO, id kill for a 288GTO, but i doubt thatll happen

the only reason for the 720s being delayed was that the actual car wasnt presented to the world before the normal sc launch moment, it makes 0 sense to repeat that with an already known car

lets assume its fake, the line up he posted has some illogical choices in it, he is new and has no track record, and he wont share his source, which according to him should be publicly available online i could make a new account a post a made up setlist with just as much evidence in five minutes

its a nice build, but has no relevance here as for no open wheelers in the wave, wave 2 had no open wheelers either, and the fiesta at least covers wrc, a new class for the theme, and im sure there will be some gt3/gte/lmp or f1 in there

i dont see 2 488s happening either, even if one is the road car and the other a gt3, and hiding a 250gto in the most expensive set is a bit annoying for those only into cars, especially if the second car would be just a small mod from the 488 gt3 as for the porsches, the 919 and 911 rsr had a pretty huge livery change, so that would set them apart from the wave 1 and 2 cars, if this rumour is indeed true edit: im digging the fiesta though, it looks a tad small compared to other sc sets, so im curious how the part count pans out, but its cool to see a hatchback in the sc lineup

all this colour confusion makes me want to rebuild one in red or black, keep it simple :) -

lego.com has them listed for dec 26th in my country, the usually show up in shops in the second week of january, although the big sets might take a while here, smaller shops have space for just one or two big technic sets, so they might have to move some 52 or 66 stock first -

i dont think the porsche fender is critical anyway, you can probably come up with a better looking design, i know ill try when i get my hands on the set. colour wise, i just think lego is being stupid with all the different shades of blue, but ill probably switch mine to bright green/red/white, for that castrol/alitalia/octan livery, since gulf doesnt belong on rally cars :)
