  1. You should use the e-mail address your internet provider provided you with, or perhaps the e-mail address you use at your workplace. It's meant to keep the trolls away.
  2. I find scratches not really a problem, especially when the set is older. But there's one thing I hate, bitemarks. I was an offender myself thirtyfive years ago, but nowadays I replace every brick that has bitemarks, unless it is hidden inside a MOC.
  3. I completely agree with you. Why don't they make a movie about Bill and Mary in eighties style?
  4. The larger sets are often 10% more expensive than the standard EU price.
  5. I think Lego bricks are clone bricks - since Lego ripped of Kiddicraft's Self Locking Bricks when they created their first plastic building bricks. I think the demise of real Lego started with the first grey castle sets in the eighties, which had large wall parts instead of buildable walls. I never wanted to have these. I don't think Lego is overpriced (I live in the Netherlands). I think most MOCs with a so called 'historic' theme have nothing to do with history, only with fantasy. I think collectable minifigures have nothing to do with Lego and the Lego building experience. I own only one of them, a gift from Lego. I don't think it's a problem to mix used and new Lego in MOCs. I don't think colour variations are a problem. They're part of the charm of Lego, showing that something is built out of a lot of small distinct pieces. BTW - a lot of posters are posting their own strong opinions about Lego, which aren't necessarily unpopular. That's not what this thread is about.
  6. I like the building, the colours especially, but you might want to check the geography (Strasbourg is too far to the north for palm trees)
  7. Sjoerd Soeters must have good friends in the committee that decides on these things.... But that's enough off topic.
  8. If you look at the logo, it depicts a spruce, which is 'spar' in Dutch, and thus doesn't make sense in any other language.
  9. Sorry to bump an old topic, but I thought this was the most appropriate topic to post this picture of a brand new orange tile, fresh from its sealed bag : The left one is ok, of course, for comparison. A very interesting deformation.
  10. Very strict planning codes. Every house has to fit in in its neighboorhood. Once a man in Amsterdam painted his house pink, but he had to repaint all of it, or face a hefty fine.
  11. Nice way to incorporate this rare colour. In the same way I'd like some day to incorporate some modulex bricks in rare colours. BTW, a building in this colour would be illegal in the Netherlands
  12. You caught me. But actually corners of tiled roofs are often clad with lighter coloured lead or zinc.
  13. I'm afraid the quality of my photo's isn't high enough, because it's dark tan and not olive green... Check the interior photograph of the olive green sofa against the dark tan wall, you'll see the difference. Olive green wouldn't be very realistic for a western European town (that's exactly the reason I haven't bought the Parisian Restaurant yet).
  14. Those are cycle paths, not sidewalks. They are supposed to be red in the Netherlands. To a Dutchman, this is a very realistic street setup.
  15. 32x32=1024 48x48=2304 That's 2.25 times the amount of surface. $14.99 is 1,88 times $7.99. So in America the gray baseplate is proportionnaly cheaper than the green one.
  16. Thanks for all the kind words. I'm very well aware of all the great buildings Lightning Tiger has made, and his really cool build techniques, but it's just not my style, I'm afraid

    MOC: Trolleybus

What a great idea to use the overhead cables to steer the bus. But why not use tubes on the straight stretches? That would make it still better. Greetings from Arnhem, Trolleybus city of the Netherlands.
  18. My table town was lacking a supermarket / convenience store, so I decided to build one. I had some stickers from the Dutch supermarket chain "De Spar" (Door Eendrachtig Samenwerken Profiteren Allen Regelmatig) that I could use, and this is the result: Upstairs there is an apartment: An overview of the whole layout: More photos can be found on my Flickr account.
  19. Many great details, like the roof and the opening windows. Good use of all the pearl gold bricks, but not overdone. I like it very much.
  20. The concept of the modular buildings involves taking the floors apart to watch the interiors. Since lamps would be fixed to the ceiling, these cannot be part of any interior, unless you make a special construction like the one that is holding the fan in the detective office. I think this is one of the reasons little attention is paid to lighting (one other reason of course being money).
  21. Since the design for the next modular building should be finished by now in Billund, there must certainly be a number of people who have concrete info. But they cannot share this info with you. So be patient, there's no use in asking for it; when someone wants to share cq. leak some info he will do it when he thinks the time is right.
  22. I don't know when the Aldi cabinets will be for sale. Check their website regularly, I guess.
  23. My brand is very dutch: afhaalchinees. But I managed to buy some nice cabinets with little drawers from Aldi. Slightly bigger than Raaco (I also own several of those). They have them each year for a very short period, it seems. I found some bigger drawers at Xenos.
  24. I'm making a large town layout with only mocs - so I'm a moccer. But at the same time I like to collect all the sets I used to play with or yearn for in the late seventies - early eighties. That puts me in more than one category.
  25. I think most of those special plates fell victim to the overall reduction of parts in the early 2000's, when Lego almost went bankrupt.
