General Part Discussion

That's what Im looking for, thanks a lot! On another note, can it be proven that two hard coupled identical motors provide more torque, preferable twice, than one motor?- 5,513 replies

Is there any resource that provide the exact torques produced by various motors?- 5,513 replies

These are all printed parts from TLG so far. They were all released in limited quantities.- 5,513 replies

TLG has started including 3d printed parts in official sets. I wonder if there will be 3d printed parts in Technic in the future.- 5,513 replies

Generic Contest Discussion
Ngoc Nguyen replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Inspired by the creations of Steve Guiness at thebrickconsultant, I have an idea for the next contest: Technic Diorama. The requirement is to create a Technic-related diorama within a certain size limit. The size limit can be 11x19, since that's the size of a Technic base (39369). What I meant by diorama can be found here. https://www.instagram.com/thebrickconsultant/ -
After quite a number of trials and errors I finally found a gear combination that strikes an acceptable balance between playability and speed. The biggest bottleneck is determining the speed for the base XL LAs. They can definitely be geared to move faster, and I did try some gearing combos that make them move faster, but past a certain point they struggle to lift the arm with an empty bucket. Since the movements of all 3 stages are too slow to actually play digging, I instead optimize the speed that at least permit a tool swap play. Video and instruction for 42215 Playability Mod coming soon.

A large jump in numbering usually signifies a recolor of an old car set, such as Bugatti Bolide (42151 - 42162), Lamborghini Huracan (42161 - 42196), Koenigsegg Jesko (42173 - 42184). Among the cars released in this year, the Aston Martin and the Ferrari FXX K seem to be possible candidates for a recolor. The Chevrolet already has its recolor, while the Toyota Supra probably has to stay in orange.

As I do for most of my major creations, I also have to test build this creation. However since I already have the official 42177, I don't want another in my collection. That was when I remembered another Mercedes that Lego released earlier and that I really like. I'm not really a Speed Champion fan, but I follow RacingBrick's Speed Champion reviews to learn more about techniques for System build. I have never bought any Speed Champion set, but the one that almost got me buying is the set 76924, which contains a Mercedes AMG G 63, and Im a huge fan of that. It's also a coincidence that the next color that connector #7 is released in after reddish orange is black, so I did a mini 42177 reskin and turn it into a Mercedes AMG G63 instead. The only thing that changes is the face, so this video can also be used to demonstrate the function of the Mini 42177. Instruction: https://reb.li/m/233724

42227 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon SUV has more parts than 42122 Jeep® Wrangler (665 parts), so hopefully it's not a 42122 reskin. But I can't imagine what new features can be done to the previous iteration. Maybe new tires? Or maybe the front suspensions of the Bronco? There's a remote possibility that it may have a new kind of CV joint that allows a compact combination of differential drive and steer for a 15L width model. That would be groundbreaking. Of course there's also another remote possibility that it will simply be a 42122 reskin...
