DEVELOPMENT Everyone loves Claas Xerion, and I love Claas Xerion. The first one was released in 2016, and the next one was released 2021, but since then there hasn't been any new Claas Xerion. So I wanted to create a Claax Xerion. In summer 2023 I created a Mini Claas Xerion, and thanks to the spur 24z gear in red that was introduced in the Yamaha bike in the same year, I wanted to do the track version as well. However that part was not widely available back then. It was not until last year when the 42177 G 5000 and 42172 McLaren that the piece becomes more popular. It is also fitting that the Terra Trac was named Tractor of The Year for 2024, so it's only fitting that I started working on that model. Since this model is based on the Mini 42054, I just reused the base of that MOC and made some modification. The first major modification is the bogie track. It took me quite some tries to get it correctly. The second part is the hood. I'm very proud of how it turns out in the end. Here's a comparison with the real machine. FUNCTIONS This variation doesn't have rotating cab so there are only 3 main functions: openable hood, HOG steering, and rear equipment lift. From what I have learned, the real machine has 3 steering mode too, so I keep that function from the Mini 42054. The steering mode switch is easier to use in this model because there's no rotating cab which can block the selector axle. INSTRUCTION https://reb.li/m/219585

A mini bucket. The 42055 bucket isn't small enough. -
Thanks for the compliment! As I said in the presentation, this creation is more of an afterthought after I did the 2733, so I just want to get the basics done and move on from it If you notice you can see that the rear mud flaps are missing as well. I just cant be bothered... As for the shrinking factor, I didn't scale directly from the official 42129, as some of its proportions are not correct to scale. Instead I worked directly from the blueprint of the Zetros. As for motorization, yes it is possible to motorize at least the drive and steer. The bottom white axle with frictionless pin is the drive axle. The two axles above it are the steer axles. You can refer to the function strip out image in the original post to see how they are connected. If you replace the back 3x7 panels with some other parts that allow the axle to go out in the back you can hook some motors to it. In case you want to hide all the motors and buwizz hooked to the back, you can build this alternate version instead. It is based on an actual trial truck version of Zetros called Zetros High Altitude. There's no tapered panels in blue or dark blue, while medium blue and dark azure don't really fit, so I went for the ones in turquoise from 42117. Thank you! Thanks for the compliments! The front axle is indeed pendular without springs, but it still has some elastic suspensions thanks to the rubber connectors. Thank you!

I had a physical model but it was for the 2733. At first I intended to order parts for this, but then since this model reused the whole front half of the 2733, I decided not to do it. I don't want to build anything twice, and the parts are not cheap. I only test build the linked differential separately and it worked, so that should be enough.

Rear axle with a diff lock: -
Earlier this year I did the Mercedes Benz Zetros 2733 6x6, which was partly based on the preliminary design of the 42129, because I wasn't quite keen on doing the mini replica for the official 42129. But then I gave it a try, and discovered that the linked differential lock is actually a nice problem to tackle, and solving it can help with the design of a mini 42177, so I started doing the full mini 42129. The front half and the cabin are taken directly from the 2733 so there's nothing new there. The only new thing is the design for the rear axle, which is only possible thanks to the new perpendicular 7L liftarm. Here arises a new challenge. The axle that transmit the differential lock has to be trasmitted perpendicularly, and within the space constraint, it can only be done with a pair of 12 gears. That means the red axle rotates 45 degrees. But the axle that turn the central differential lock has to be at an upright angle. Therefore I used the new gear selector drum from the 42159 Yamaha motorbike to create a 45 degree offset on the same axle. Also because of the space constraint in the body length, I have to use the 2L Driving Ring also from the big motorbike. The rest of the model is pretty much the same as that of the 2733 6x6, so there''s nothing new to present. Here are the function sheets, which are also modified versions of those of the 2733 6x6. I've just created an Instagram channel for my creations, so I'd appreciate it if you can support it. https://www.instagram.com/ngoc.brickcorner/ Free instruction: https://reb.li/m/217171

Without names there is nothing to discuss and the thread will quickly devolve into a speculation thread. This was already stated by a mod somewhere in the past, it's not my position. And names of the next year lineup is only out usually in August the earliest. That is why the general thread have been created in August the earliest. Here are the names and the dates at which earlier yearly general Technic threads were created. Technic 2015 Discussion and Speculation: August 28, 2014 Technic 2016 Discussion and Speculation: August 1, 2015 Technic 2017 Set Discussion: August 12, 2016 Technic 2018 Set Discussion: August 22, 2017 Technic 2019 Set Discussion: August 10, 2018 Technic 2020 Set Discussion: July 15, 2019 Technic 2021 Set Discussion: September 12, 2020 Technic 2022 Set Discussion: September 16, 2021 Technic 2023 Set Discussion: August 25, 2022 2024 Technic Sets Discussion: August 2, 2023 - Earlier yearly threads were created with set names. - The speculation part was removed and discouraged by the mods. - Even though the yearly threads were created by different people, they all name the threads in a similar manners. 10 different people but they all know how to follow convention, you cant really tell me the current title of this thread is anywhere near reasonable. At the very least, the names are propely capitalized and spaced. That's basic online etiquettes.
-
Is there any way to make this person understand that there are online spelling etiquettes as well as naming conventions in this forum? This is not the first time this person starts a new thread without naming it the same way previous threads are named. I believe Milan the mod has spoken to this person once or twice about this problem already. The name of the general thread is usually "20xx Technic Sets Discussion". Not only does the name of this thread not have proper capitalization, it also doesn't have proper spacing. As for the the information, a general thread is only created when there are at least names. These so called "information" don't reveal anything helpful. Of course the next sets will start with 4221x, Of course there will be a small set and some pullback midsized sets. Without names the thread will quickly devolve into a speculation thread. And names for the next line up is not usually available until August the earliest.
