It's just for fun and to challenge myself . Where's the fun if I can use any part I want? It's not like the alternate models I made are completely not accessible without the original 42113 set. I already did another alternate model for this 42113 earlier this year, and some people liked it enough to find the parts and build it themselves. I know because they took photos and recorded videos of them doing so. If someone likes my alternate model enough and can afford to gather the parts to build it then they will. I even make sure that my design uses as least number of rare or unique parts as possible. The only kind of "rare" parts in this particular model are the battery box, the blades, the #3 and #4 panels in DBG, and the curved panel in DBG. The battery box problem is addressed by the manual version. The blades and #3 #4 panels are widely available on Bricklink. The front curved panel in DBG can be replaced with sth in a different color. The parts from 42113 are not that limiting and in fact are quite versatile for designing a model. It has liftarms of all lengths in LBG except the 13L (which make designing a coherent color scheme a lot easier), lots of gears, panels in different sizes, frames, turntables, mini LAs, etc. I'm barely scratching the surface when it comes to all the possibilities that can come from the parts of 42113. The only limitation of the part list so far is the absence of the 1x1 spacer, but that's not too much of a big problem. Because of such versatility, if the alternates were designed as MOCs there wouldn't be much difference. I plan to do 3 more alternate models for 42113. The next one is the Erickson Skycrane.

I did plan to have the real model photographed properly, but there was a lockdown, so I had to make do with renderings. Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion is the largest heavy-lift cargo helicopter in the United States Marine Corps, and is one of the 10 biggest heavy lift helicopters in the world. Similar to the previous 42113 alternative model, this MOC also comes in two versions: Motorized and Manual. I think the next 42078-scaled truck in 2022 will not have a crane because it will be too similar to 42128. My guess is that it will be a licensed cabover semi truck with a dump bed trailer. Or a Volvo semi truck with a flat bed trailer that hauls a Volvo medium-sized front loader.

If you put PF into it, it's totally worth it. I bought a version with no electronics for 300 EUR, and I'm totally happy with that decision as well as how the PF mod turns out.

A few other mods incorporated: - @Void_S 's front light lift - The wheels are turned inside out so that the spokes are shown outward, just like in the real car. - The dashboard, made of two 2x3 panels, are fixed to the car instead of the hood. In the official model the dashboard is attached to the hood, so when the hood is opened the dashboard also tilts backwards, which is unrealistic to me. - The black ridges on the hood are now attached to the hood instead of to the body. In the official model they are attached to the body, and because of that they don't open when the hood is open, which is also unrealistic to me. The 1/2 stud offset of the front wheels are still preserved to create the slanting pose of the car at rest.

42112 would like to have a word with you.

Now that models from movies and games start to appear in the Technic lineup, I want a Dune ornithopter. I also have a plan to design one as an alternate model of the 42113.

I'd say 42146 is the number for the UCS supercar because the previous 3 supercars are all the last in their year's lineup. The missing 42142 might be an irregular release like the Batmobile.

A thin 8L or 9L liftarm would be useful because it will allow a micro inline 6 engines with 1/2 pins.

My PF 42131 exhibits a strange phenomenon: - On the mattress, one PF L motor can drive one track alone forward but not backward. When driving backward it keeps skipping the gear. - On the hard floor, however, one PF L motor can drive one track alone both forward and backward. Any idea why?

Got my paws on the 42131 and put the PF mod on it. I must say I'm very happy with the result. It works like a charm. Two PF L motors are enough to drive this thing around at reasonable speeds. The immediacy of PF allows me to pick up the IR controller and play with it after simply turning on two battery boxes. Channel 1 for drive, 2 for blade, 3 for ripper, and 4 for ladder. No app, no update, no config whatsoever. It's a shame that I have to do the PF mod myself instead of being able to buy the PF version as an official set.

The bowing seems to be a design and not a bug, as all pins from 42126, 42128, 42129, and 42130 are like that. I have the same habit. Now because of the bowing I have to pay extra attention to make sure the pins alternate in terms of bowing, otherwise anything connected to them will bow visibly.

It is visible. Just put two pins next to each other on a liftarm so that their grooves are of opposite sides, and you can see that each pin bend towards its own groove and there's gap between the ends of the two pins. If the grooves are on the same side, the next liftarm connected to them are bent visibly.

Got my paws on the 42131 today, and found out that the pins in that set have this same problem.

The early leak in October said this set is a Formula 1 car. The McLaren info was out a few days ago only.

When I googled McLaren F1, the most common results are about the MCL34M and MCL35M. I think the model in this set will be that model. The bright light orange can make a return and gives us some more panels or liftarms in that color.
