  1. I'd sat those who get the new version get screwed, as the hub will be less convenient to open and the saying makes more sense as a pun.
  2. I put the wrong link in the previous post. This is the correct one. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-92919/nguyengiangoc/42131-pf-conversion/#parts
  3. In my PF mod the two LAs are put directly onto the two vertical flip flop 11L beams through a 11L axle. I think you can use a longer axle and add a knob. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-92919/nguyengiangoc/42131-pf-conversion/#parts
  4. I looked through some of the biggest wheel loaders and none of them have motorized ladders.. One hub is most likely for a flagship from now on, given that 42131 has space for two but contains only one.
  5. Erickson S-64 Aircrane is a unique heavy lift helicopter and is one of the 10 biggest heavy lift helicopters in the world. The original version was designed by Sikorsky under the name Sikorsky CH-54 Tarhe. It was used in Vietnam to transport and to retrieve downed-aircraft. The Boeing Chinook might be a cool heavy lift helicopter, but this one is a cooler heavy lift helicopter that lifts the Chinook. Due to budget cuts, the CH-54 stopped being upgraded and the whole program was cancelled. It was retired in the 1980s, and the heavy lift function is carried out by the Chinook instead. The Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane is the civilian of the aircraft. Erickson bought the type certificate in 1992 and has been manufacturing as well as operating them since then under the name Erickson S-64 Aircrane. The most common civilian uses nowadays for this aircraft is firefighting and power line transportation. My model comes in two versions, similar to previous alternate models: Motorized and Manual. The motorized model has a power unit attachment that contains the motor and the battery box and is shaped like a container. The manual version has a triangular water tank with two valves in the bottom that can be opened to simulate water dropping. Other details include the rear-facing cockpit with its own pilot seat to handle the load or the fire fighting and the steps on the two legs as well as on the starboard side of the aircraft. The model is slight out of proportion because: - I have to use the 3x11 panels to ensure the structural integrity. According to right proportion, the side walls should be 2 studs tall only. - The tail should be longer, but I made it short so that the flex doesn't bend the axle that rotates the rear rotor. 6. Well 42131 has more features than 8275. 8275 has 4, while 42131 has 6. 42131 also has a motorized ladder, and chain tensioners. At least there are areas in 8275 that can be improved upon or features that can be added. Now consider the 42030. What else can be added? I can't think of any. A loader has 2 functions, which are bucket raising and bucket tipping, and that's it. The next big front loader (42081) has 2 more functions (counterweight moving and body folding) only because it's a concept model. Maybe TLG will add a 3-speed 42114-styled gearbox into the next big loader.
  7. TLG tries to not repeat themselves, and I can't think of any way the new C+ wheel loader can make itself different from the old 42030. This is the same as the setup in 42030, and I doubt that TLG will repeat themselves when it comes to the flagship.
  8. Master Grohl likes my model! This is the ultimate validation!!
  9. @kbalage I'm surprised you didn't mention the part that you did not receive them from TLG and had to buy them yourselves.
  10. I'm Vietnamese so Imma go with sth Vietnam-ish https://www.monsterjam.com/en-US/trucks/saigon-shaker
  11. Apparently Sariel did not receive these two sets from Lego for review, so he had to go buy his own copies. @kbalage How's the situation with you?
  12. The updated list of possible models for flagship sets: - Bucket trench excavator - Simple hydraulic boom excavator - Dragline excavator - 6x6 mobile crane - Tracked lattice boom crane (this one can uses the CAT track pieces) - Tower crane - Backhoe - Mining dump truck - Combine harvester - Biggest reach stacker - Biggest forklift - Biggest telehandler I think I'll visit this list every year to cross out any idea that becomes an actual set. I wanna see how long TLG can maintain the Technic flagships without repeating themselves.
  13. Right I totally forgot about the Backhoe and the Mining truck. I don't think the logging truck will be done at a flagship scale because in real life it's not big and complex enough. The updated list: - Bucket trench excavator - Simple hydraulic boom excavator - Dragline excavator - 6x6 mobile crane - Tracked lattice boom crane (this one can uses the CAT track pieces) - Tower crane - Backhoe (a kind of excavator and loader) - Mining dump truck Huge machines of other types: - Combine harvester - Reach stacker. If TLG turns out to release all of these as flagships, it will take them 10 years to do so. By the end of that period Technic will be in a very interesting position. TLG will have already exhausted all the biggest baddest machines out there as flagships, so will they repeat themselves? I'd love to see.
  14. The flagships of the Technic lineup for the past 10 years revolve around: - Excavator (2010. 2016, 2019) - Bulldozer (2007, 2021) - Truck (2009, 2011, 2015, 2017, 2020) - Crane (2013, 2018, maybe 2017) - Off-roaders (2008, 2012) - Front loader (2014) I don't think there will be off-roader flagships because they have been moved to lower price point (42099, 42129). Unless TLG does a 8x8 with large tractor tires. Front loader as a flagship is also unlikely because I can't think of any way that a new front loader flagship can differentiate itself from the 42030 in 2014. As far as I've observed TLG tends to not repeat themselves. So we're back to excavators, truck, and cranes. The variations that I can think of are: - Bucket trench excavator - Simple hydraulic boom excavator - Dragline excavator - 6x6 mobile crane - Tracked lattice boom crane (this one can uses the CAT track pieces) - Tower crane Huge machines of other types: - Combine harvester - Reach stacker. Those should be enough to allow TLG to run unique flagships for another decade.
  15. My need for immediate control and haptic feedback isn't, though
  16. It has been sold as a separate set since Feb. https://www.lego.com/en-si/product/battery-box-88015
  17. Grohl designed this set and he's had some mod ideas as well: But in that video he just introduces the mod and asks for like + sub + comment. There's no instruction yet.
  18. I'm gonna do transport or heavy lift aircrafts only, because I want to them to be consistent with the original model, which is also a transport aircraft, and because transport aircrafts have more space and thus allow the battery box. My original plan is to do 6 alternate models: 3 real life transport aircraft and 3 fictional transport aircraft. I already got the ideas for the first 3: Chinook, Sikorsky King Stallion, and Erickson Air Crane. For the latter 3, I already have ideas for 2: Spiderman Vulture's Exo-Suit and Dune's Ornithopter. Any suggestion for the last one?
  19. It would be more like a Erickson Air Crane mixed with Sikorsky Tarhe (its former version) because there are not enough orange parts to make the whole thing orange.
  20. It's just for fun and to challenge myself . Where's the fun if I can use any part I want? It's not like the alternate models I made are completely not accessible without the original 42113 set. I already did another alternate model for this 42113 earlier this year, and some people liked it enough to find the parts and build it themselves. I know because they took photos and recorded videos of them doing so. If someone likes my alternate model enough and can afford to gather the parts to build it then they will. I even make sure that my design uses as least number of rare or unique parts as possible. The only kind of "rare" parts in this particular model are the battery box, the blades, the #3 and #4 panels in DBG, and the curved panel in DBG. The battery box problem is addressed by the manual version. The blades and #3 #4 panels are widely available on Bricklink. The front curved panel in DBG can be replaced with sth in a different color. The parts from 42113 are not that limiting and in fact are quite versatile for designing a model. It has liftarms of all lengths in LBG except the 13L (which make designing a coherent color scheme a lot easier), lots of gears, panels in different sizes, frames, turntables, mini LAs, etc. I'm barely scratching the surface when it comes to all the possibilities that can come from the parts of 42113. The only limitation of the part list so far is the absence of the 1x1 spacer, but that's not too much of a big problem. Because of such versatility, if the alternates were designed as MOCs there wouldn't be much difference. I plan to do 3 more alternate models for 42113. The next one is the Erickson Skycrane.
  21. Cam pieces used as cams, and it's shocking!!!gasp!!!
