This reminds me of when the CLAAS Xerion box design was revealed. Same feeling of awe.

There's a horizontal XL 2x11 cylinder in the grapple.

Five. There is one yellow XL in the grapple.

The difference is that those two are not shown on a box with package design, while 42146 is.

If it can be done with 4300 parts with no new specialized part and maybe cost only as much as 42131 I don't get why it isn't done.

Liebherr doesn't have LR15000. LR13000 is its largest crawler crane.

If I read the box's side correctly, this set has one smart hub and 4 L motors. The 700$ price is even more ridiculous.

I think I can see tapered 5x11 panels in either LBG or DBG in the undercarriage. Based on the color of the tracks and the hub I'd say it's LBG.

To put this into perspective, you can spend the same amount of money buying two new sealed 42042 on eBay rather than this disproportionate piece of Con+Trol junk. I'd like to hear kbalage 's comment on this, even though I'm aware that he doesn't make videos to comment on leaked images.

Then how does the real crane avoid tipping over with that trapezoidal track shape?

The upside is that 42070 will no longer be reviled as the worst set in the Technic modern age.

Now I understand why the earlier leaker used the Look how they massacred my boy meme. TLG really did massacre this thing!!! I will try to shrink this set one day, to do the real LR13000 justice.

If you're talking bout me, I just suggested the topic. I know nothing of the rules, and there's a chance that what I have is ineligible for the contest after the rules are out anyway. And what I have is not a complete model. Even if it happens to be eligible, how might it affect the fairness of the contest or give me an unfair advantage, assuming that's what you're concerned about? I can see that it might allow me to finish my entry earlier, but that can hardly be considered unfair.

Why is this a problem though? And even if it is, there is no guarantee that this didnt happen in past contests. People might just happen to have WIP projects that fit with the contest theme.

Can I just not? I'm not interested in the current contest or the entries. For the model I'm working on, the original model has motorized functions. If the shrinking involves only to reduce all the motorized functions into manual functions with direct drivetrain, it's not much of a challenge. Shrinking and keeping the same functions and keeping them motorized within smaller constraints is the fun part for me.

I don't see why electronics should be banned. If anything, a shrunk model containing electronics is even more impressive because of the space constraints.

The only diagonal and barely legal way of putting a 3x13 curved panel is between 6 studs high and 12 studs long, and that quarter piece doesn't have those dimensions.
