  1. Can I just not? I'm not interested in the current contest or the entries. For the model I'm working on, the original model has motorized functions. If the shrinking involves only to reduce all the motorized functions into manual functions with direct drivetrain, it's not much of a challenge. Shrinking and keeping the same functions and keeping them motorized within smaller constraints is the fun part for me.
  2. I don't see why electronics should be banned. If anything, a shrunk model containing electronics is even more impressive because of the space constraints.
  3. The only diagonal and barely legal way of putting a 3x13 curved panel is between 6 studs high and 12 studs long, and that quarter piece doesn't have those dimensions.
  4. Hooboy what is that humongous quarter eclipse liftarm piece?! Does it signal the coming of XXL panels in Technic?
  5. I think the front axle uses the new differential simply because it can be driven through parallel gears.
  6. Front suspension: Front axle drive: Steering axle Full drive train. You can see that the axles are not connected through any means
  7. Rear axle does have suspension, and the structure looks like below. Blue 9L beam replaces the shock absorber because the absorber isn't available in Studio. This suspension is not a pull rod type and still a push rod one but placed below the axle.

  9. Are the top of the wheels supposed to be open or empty like that?
  10. I've been shrinking two sets before there's even a scent of the shrinking contest. @Jim Just to make sure, can I enter the contest with two entries?
  11. So, question: For the shrink a set contest, does that set have to be from Technic line? Can I shrink a car from another line? I'm thinking of shrinking the new classic land rover.
  12. So the fabled DBG panels exclusive to the Osprey didn't come... Even the #1 and #2 panels dont seem to appear in this set.
  13. No lol cuz that photo is a model from Sembo bricks, and I just recreated it. I take no credit for it. It should be quite obvious because the small mudguards in Land Rover green doesnt exist. As for real entries I have two more in the closet that I'm not showing any time soon.
  14. I'm also working on a shrunk Land Rover btw.
  15. 42156 Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar (18+) - 1775 pieces - 199.99$ Go nuts
  16. I shrunk a set before there's even a shrink set contest lol
  17. Front blade is controlled through a lever on the other side. There's no actuator because there's no space inside the front. I only built the function modules separately with pieces of mixed colors to test the functions, and I already disassembled them. No drive train and fake engine though.
  18. In the anticipation of the set 42157, I have created a smaller version of the John Deere 948L-II Skidder. Functions: - Liftable front blade - Articulated steering - Grapple arm - Grapple articulation and rotation - Openable doors - Chair that can rotate 360 degrees Other features include: - Fire extinguiser - Joysticks on chair armrests - Winch drum behind the grapple arm The biggest challenge during the design process is the lack of connectors and liftarms in green. This shortage has an even larger impact on the design, because a model at a small scale requires different types of connectors to achieve the intended shape. Even though some connectors technically do exist in green, they appear in very old Technic sets (1990-2000 ones). Therefore, a restriction I imposed on myself when designing this set is that I have to avoid as many as possible those old Technic connectors in green. In other words, I want to use the green parts that only appear in recent sets. In the end I was not completely successful in reaching that goal, but I was close. Thanks to the recent John Deere Tractor and the Monster Truck that the liftarms in green return. This design only uses the green liftarms from these two sets. The green 3x11 panel has not been available recently, but it's not old. Its last appearance is in the 42078 Mack Truck in 2018. The only rare connector in green in this design is 3 of this: They can all be swapped with black ones with little effect on the overall look. Another part that I'm not quite satisfied with but don't really have any alternative is the slanting bars in front of the cabin. At that angle I can't use any existing connector like #3, and can only use universal joints. However, universal joints don't exist in black, so that part is not consistent with the pure black structure in the real model. At first I planned to include double differentials and a working engine as well, but the placement of the mini LA in the rear prevents the former, and the linkage to control the front blade the latter. In the end the lack of those things don't really matter anyway. Overall I'm quite satisfied with how the design turns out. 19. There will be a one stud gap between the visor and the roof. I still dont get how a thin 1x7 liftarm can be used, given that the visor is brick built.
  20. There must be a small gap anyway. The solution you proposed doesn't seem very stable though.
