Can anyone suggest a simple mod to increase power or speed, like adding a motor somewhere?

One of the biggest challenge of doing a backhoe is the lack of bucket. It means I'll have to sculpt a custom one from Technic parts. After many tries, this is what I came up with, and I'm very pleased with it.

Even though it's quite late for 42128 alternate models hype, I'm resuming development of this model. I managed to make some new progress today yay.

So the only true Technic sets to me in 2023 are only 7 sets: 42146, 42147, 42148, 42152, 42155, 42157, and 42158. And by "true Technic", I mean "not a car". And among these 7 sets, 1 is a leftover from last year, and 4 sets have less than 1000 pieces. Where are the usual 1k8-2k5 piece middle-sized sets that are not cars and have some proper Technic functions Even the middle-sized truck series with 49.3 tyres appears to be discontinued. Remember when Technic sets was cool and got functions and got AFOLs excited?

There was 42008 in 2013, but even though it's the same green for some reasons that truck looks dreadful.

Oh right yeah.. I already had a strange feeling when I first saw those wheel arches, but I wasn't sure. The new one seem to be 11 x 2 x 5

Are the wheel arches in this set new?

More like 3x5x2. One side fits the 2x3 quarter panel group and one fits the 2x5 panel group.
