42110 - Land Rover Defender

I know that there's a spare tire but I don't think it will serve as a knob, because the rear door seems to be openable. -

According to my source, 42110 has the same box dimensions with 42098. -

That's what you get when you have like 10 DBG 3x11 panels left... It's also disappointing that there's a spare differential when the hot rod and the truck dont have one. I think at the very least the truck should have it, a V6 or V8, and an openable bonnet. -

I felt kinda bumped to learn that the Hot Rod doesn't use a differential. According to the instruction there is enough space for it and a 20z gear. The vehicles look really cool, but it's quite unfortunate that the car and van don't load on the decks properly. It feels poorly designed. Not sure if UW designed the B model, because he's so senior he can't possibly design the vehicles like that. -

Because everything looks better in Dark Azure, and because the money for a proper 41999 can be used to buy the upcoming Liebherr, so why not?

42110 - Land Rover Defender

There's a winch, which means there must be a knob to wind the winch. In 42069, the knob is located in the rear section. In this set, the rear section has seats, so it's doubtful that the knob is there. Besides, since this is a licensed set, I don't think the designer would ruin the whole appearance with a knob and some driving axles, I don't think the winch knob will be anywhere on the outer surface. My guess is that the winch will be routed to the glove compartment in front of the front-row passenger's seat. There is also no visible ratchet. I think the ratchet release will also be in the glove compartment -

42093 is like the 42039 in a smaller scale: it's gonna be another king of alternate models.- 785 replies

The problem is that two receivers need to be in the superstructure and two need to be in the base. Finding space for two in the superstructure isn't hard; the main problem is finding space for the two in the base. On another note, official pictures are available: Looks like rock pieces are included. This makes me think 3700 - 4000 may be the maximum piece count for a single Technic model. Any increase in piece count in subsequent sets would most likely be attributed to fluff pieces, play pieces, or secondary model (like the Mining Truck in 42055).

Replacing the C+ motors and BBoxes with PF BBoxes wont be much of a problem because of the similarity in sizes. The real problem is finding the soace for the 4 IR Receivers.

To think that I need to spend another bunch of money for PF motors and BBoxes and IR receivers... But I'm so tempted to convert this thing back into a good ol' IR PF thingy.
