Where did they mention the land of Vladek? I both watched the Lego Movie and played the video game on PC, but I can't seem to remember any hints about Vladek. The only bad guy was President Business. Also, how come I've never seen that unicorn shield? It looks awesome!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Sorrelon replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I really really hope that they decide to release a Modular train station set. While the chances for that is quite low since they released a train station last summer, they've also done a Modular fire station set before, so I guess there is still hope for a Modular train station. -
I have 2 questions. I guess first one is partly answered, but the answer was only about minifigures. Are all minifigures and weapons futuristic, or could the be used in medieval Castle sets as well? And more importantly, what about lava monsters? Are they also mechanical monsters(like robohorses), or non-mechanical ones like a rancor or an ogre? I'm curious of them for the same reason as the first question, to see whether are they useable in medieval/high-fantasy MOCs or not. Thanks!

Pillage the Village Contest: Out for Blood Edition
Sorrelon replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
I have some nice ideas which contain the Pirate Cook(one that was introduced in the Brick Bounty set), a cleaver, a screaming civillian and a pirate crew hungry from all the pillage, rape, murder and plunder they've recently done. The problem is, while I've done some MOCs before, I never participated in a contest, and I practically got zero experiece on photo editing. So hopefully, if I can get my bricks together, I might try my chances on this one.- 144 replies

Actually, we had a female knight back in first KK, Princess Storm. http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Princess_Storm I think a female knight is as good as a male one. Hopefully, her bodyprint isn't too sci-fi/steampunk-ish so us traditional Castle fans can also use it in MOCs. What I'm actually interested are the lava monsters. If they are not lava pumping machines but actually are fire demons reanimated from molten pools by magic (or something like that, I hope you get the idea), I'd buy them in mass and use them as minions of the Evil Wizard from CMF 13

Looks like a calm autumn stroll went all wrong for the poor witch I totally loved your MOC. Nice tree, cool ground with vines and fallen branches, brilliant use of claws, whats not to like? I wonder how it'd look like with glow-in-dark white coloured claws, if that colour exists for that part.

My sentiments exactly, I completely agree with it this post. I had hopes that Nexo Knights might be the Chima replacement and we might actually get a proper Castle theme(preferably Fantasy Era 2) instead of this. Now that my hopes on a traditional Castle theme are crushed to dust, I am only worried about the future of Castle theme, or rather, lack of it. I'm pretty sure that Lego won't release a traditional Castle theme while Nexo Knights is on, and much like many other posters here, I bet most of the parts are going to be too futuristic to be used in Castle MOCs either. I'm sure people who have high hopes of Nexo Knights will brick me to death for saying this, but here I go: I really, really hope that Nexo Knights will be discontinued after the first year so we could get a traditional Castle theme again! On the bright side, if they also discontinue the current Pirates theme, I'll be saving tons of money next year, which will most likely used more parts for MOCs

I seriously hope this is what's going to happen. With the disastrously terrible Castle line in 2016(Nexo Knights a.k.a. KK3), I really hope that they won't mess things up by decidint not to introduce a second wave of Pirates III. Red Coats were in Pirates II, and in the current Pirates theme(Pirates III) it is Pirates vs Blue Coats. I doubt that they'd mix Blue Coats and Red Coats in the same Pirates line. As for the UCS, since it was IFS, a ship, last time, I think it might be a building like Imperial Trading Post or Eldorado Fortress this time. Although, if they decide to make it a ship like IFS, I'd gladly accept it as well, since I missed it in the last time.

Pillage the Village Contest: Out for Blood Edition
Sorrelon replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
I have a question about rule #10. What exactly does "stacking baseplates" mean? I don't have 16x16 of the baseplate of the colour I want, but I have 2 of 8x16 of that coloured baseplate. Does this mean I cannot participate to the contest if I connect those two in some way(with buildings, trees or simple plates), or does baseplate stacking mean something completely different? Also, does it necessarily be a ship/vessel, or can I make a scene where pirates go wild on a settlement as well?- 144 replies

I'm also doing the same, a transport ship MOC for Castle, but I also think cloth sails look much more natural and better when compared to ones built with bricks. If you don't want to buy cloth sails because of pirate or imperial patterns, I can recommend sails from Imperial Flagship set. http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=sailbb47&idColor=1#T=C&C=1 http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=sailbb46&idColor=1#T=C&C=1 I bought those ones a few months back and none of them have flag or pattern of a faction.

Those lava monsters might look like monsters from Power Miners. Lego might want to puff out the dust on their molds and reuse them for the incoming theme Also, I wonder how much sci-fi/steampunk those sets will be? If they have more Castle influence than steampunk, then perhaps they'll be in a similar sense to Castle Cavalry from Lego Movie sets.

I totally love it! Nice details all over, especially on the minifigures. The fort/tower definitely has a classic Pirates feeling to it. Also, the half-naked lady slapping the pirate with a fish is hilarious!
-
Ah, you got me(and probably some of the others) all wrong. It's not the steampunk I'm complaining about. In fact, I'd love to have a steampunk theme SEPARATELY. I'm complaining because they are doing it AS Castle 2016. While my hopes of having a Fantasy Era 2 theme for Castle in 2016 are almost down to zero, I still have a sliver of hope that the information is not completely true and they'll release them as 2 different instead.

Jumping into the barfight with bottles in each hand? Wow, that is one angry bartender!

You can also use 1x4 hinge plates or 1x4 hinge bricks to make a curved wall. I used it for a lighthouse and well in LDD, and while I still didn't start building the lighthouse, it worked perfectly good for the well. In my opinion, building a curved/round wall with this method is more stable compared to building it with 1x2 bricks (or maybe I just messed up building it with 1x3 bricks ).

I'm still dissapointed that they didn't make a Bree/Prancing Pony set for Lotr or Hobbit. Imagine how awesome a nice Prancing Pony set would've been, especially one that is as detailed as An Unexpected Gathering. With the release of Hobbit sets, I hoped for it again, but sadly, they didn't make it for Hobbit as well.
-
Totally agree on that. Unfortunately, they don't even care what we want. A separate steampunk line in 2016 would've been okay, but what really bothers me is that TLG making such a drastic change on a staple line like Castle. This would be the same as making an "alien invasion" theme for City line. While it'd be great to have it as another line, if done on the City line, it just wouldn't feel like City anymore. If this steampunk-knights will be the only Castle line in 2016, then I believe it'll be very similar to Time Cruisers line in 1996-1997. A mediocre idea executed in the worst way possible, and discontinued in it's second year.

So, does this translate as "there is yet hope for a nice Fantasy Era themed Castle sets" ? Hope the answer is yes, crossed fingers on both of my hands, and even my toes
-
Oh, no! Please tell me this is a bad attempt of an April's fools joke which is done with 4 months of a delay. Robohorses or disc launchers don't sound anything like Castle to me. No matter how you put it, steampunk just doesn't fit into any of the Castle lines, be it Classic Castle or Kingdoms or Fantasy Era. When the rumors of a new Fantasy Era sets for 2016 first leaked, I had really high hopes for the line, especially with the discontuniation of Lotr and Hobbit. Since they already did Dwarves and Trolls in Fantasy Era, I was expecting sets revolving around Elves and Goblins(looking like ones from collectible minifigures series), elven buildings, forest roads with elven patrolls and goblin trappers, goblin forges and cavern, civillian settlements(perhaps a medieval harbor or a fair) done in a similar taste to Medieval Market Village and Mill Village Raid. But instead, we get lame disc launching, robohorse riding Chima rip-off line whose only proof of being a Castle line is the Castle logo on it's box. If this is confirmed, I really really really hope that this new line will be the one that replaces Chima and we'll actually get a Castle line that is Fantasy Era II. or anything but this abomination.
