Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
gedren_y replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I have a very long, complicated comics/90s TV show reason for why I think this possible, but I'll refrain. I'll simply hope that a post-movie release NWH set could include Madame Web. She would be an interesting fig to get. Somehow getting her how she looked in the 90s TV show would be the best, but unlikely. The Beyonder would also be an interesting get, if he gets used in the MCU the way he could be (more long, complicated comics reasons). But unless there's a post-movie Eternals set that failed to leak, it is unlikely he'd have anything set worthy for quite some time, if he's used at all. About the Daily Bugle: Joseph "Robbie" Robertson, while he might not have much in the way of visual interest, he is an important Spider-Man character we're unlikely to get any other way. Jameson came with the last Bugle, and I could easily see a reuse of the face print and hair. Betty Brant also makes sense, for many comics reasons, but also for some more normal female representation (agree there). If Lego is willing to give us more Daily Bugle employees, I'd hope for Lee Kirby (look him up). I'm hoping Uatu is in the CMF series, with a proper specially molded head. Not an oversized Lego head, but something more like the alien musicians in the Star Wars Cantina set. I have little current interest in what might be made from the Loki series, even if it's Thor. The confirmed other variations are probably going to be enough for me. I'm also hoping Lego passes on Billy and Tommy. I'd rather get them later as the heroes they actually become. I also don't think I'll be interested in Bucky, Sam, or even Zemo. I enjoy the show, but I'd only really want a Karli fig, especially if Lego can manage a removable Flash Smashers mask. -
All great ideas, but for that kind of line of sets to be successful with kids, the castle itself would have to be a named place. That requires at least some kind of story to go along with the sets. I've been suggesting for some time a line of sets that are castle components to add together to get a large castle. The current Hogwarts sets are a good way of going about doing the physical structure. I've also been suggesting Lego return to an idea that didn't get enough of a chance in KKII, the castle faction specific decoration be swappable (Castle of Morcia).

Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
gedren_y replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
There is also a Marvel Wishlist thread. The word rumors is in this thread's name, though, and because much of Lego Marvel is the MCU, anything spoilery for the MCU (speculation, leaks, rumors, recent releases) informs speculation about what we could get in Lego. Yes, this thread would be a lot less active if we avoided prognosticating about the properties upon which the Lego sets are based. I agree, though, that spoiler tags should be the norm for these kinds of posts. I should do this myself when discussing the potential for a character who's comic stories I know somewhat showing up in the MCU. Not everyone has read the Guardians of the Galaxy in the Year 3000, who's timeline is now an aborted 616 future, but is quite probably the basis for the Ravagers' backstory in the MCU. I may not be a comics nerd, but I am moderately well read in them, and like to do research. I will try to keep my future prognosticating in spoiler tags, and add a "potential spoiler" warning when I link to Marvel comics story content that I think might be the basis for future MCU storylines. -

Regarding the Doc Ock story arc discussion, there is a very simple solution given the Multiverse nature of the story: The Beyonder. He's a character that would tie The Eternals, Doc Strange 2, Spidey Home 3, Guardians 3, and a few others. His inclusion could mean one of my character wants might happen, as he creates Major Victory's final life-sustaining outfit (something like a technological version of the Venom symbiote). He could also make a somewhat interesting fig. -

That's because a lot of us have a vested interest in the story that is the MCU (or the comics), and wanting that story expressed in Lego. It is about what Lego is doing for their Marvel interest, not what Marvel is doing for their Lego interest. I'm in the latter category. I enjoy Marvel, and would certainly enjoy figs based on certain characters in specific instances (I really want Major Victory, and the original Yondu), but I'm more interested in what the Marvel themes can do for my overall Lego hobby. -
I'm definitely going to download the instructions for several of these sets to digitally recreate the best parts in other colors. If we want Castle to really come back, maybe we need to be developing our Ideas or Lego Worldbuilder submissions using design elements that have made it into actual sets.

Yeah, a good one in the big 2016 set, and a seriously weak one in the 2018 Mighty Micros set. Neither well captures the floppy nature of the sleeveless shirt he wears. He could use an upgrade. -

Could we see a an updated Ben Reilly, aka Scarlet Spider? He was the most stable of the Peter Parker clones. -
What a number of us would like is a return of the mid-range priced sets that, with enough copies, one could easily create their own castles from the parts, and with the right fig distribution, potentially army build. I've also seen non-grey castle sets being asked for. I know Harry Potter doesn't do much to fill the void of fig wants, but two of the leaked sets should give us hope that Lego might find that the kinds of sets that would appeal to us if they weren't Harry Potter can also appeal to their core demographic. First is Hogwarts: First Flying Lesson, which is based on a scene where the action is outside the castle itself. There seems to be little need for the intent of the scene to include much of an interior, or make the build any more complex that needed to provide stability for the flying function, but it looks like this set has both. We don't have an actual image of the rear, but the edge of a staircase on the right, and something visible through the left window, suggest a playable interior. I may be mistaken, but the build itself appears to be separable into three parts. To transform this into a Castle set wouldn't take much in the way of alteration, especially if the flying play function remains. Change all license specific prints/stickers and accessories to some unlicensed counterpart, Harry Neville and his broom to a flying villain or creature, the statue to a small catapult, the other three figs to some faction soldiers (yes I'm counting the gold fig), and there you have a fun Castle playset. That would be the kind of set that sits in the exact sweet spot of kid play interests, and Castle AFOL interests. Second, for different reasons, is the Harry Potter chess set. While this set doesn't provide figs as pieces, it does provide an array of Castle weapons in non-gray/metallic colors. This idea is, to me, a boon to fantasy castle builders (@zoth33 providing an example as I type) , and could, I think, make future non-licensed chess sets (with actual figs) more appealing to younger buyers, which would in turn induce Lego to keep producing such sets. This also provides a few new brick built statuary designs that would be great additions to Castle sets, in place of the standard bland grey minifig statues. If the sales of these sets could somehow be high enough above the rest of the Harry Potter line, maybe then Lego could realize what parts of Harry Potter actually appeal to both kids and Castle AFOLs, so that they could reuse those ideas in a future unlicensed historical/fantasy theme.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

The helmets on the pawns are this part, which actually came in white before. I've always thought they could be used for medieval helms, and this set gives credence to the idea. -

The current Harry Potter leaks include Hogwarts First Flying Lesson. It has the house heraldries printed (looks like they aren't stickers) on the Nexo Knights shield tile. This looks like a good direction for potential future Castle set heraldry inclusion, instead of the standard shields sticking out from the walls. The build seems to be mostly the castle wall facade with a flying broom lever function. I see this as a pretty good parts pack for tan castle builders. Where in the Hogsmeade images are you seeing a dark red shield? The curved windows in The Chamber of Secrets is just a recolor of the ones currently available in some Friends sets. -

It is still entirely possible we could get TFA accurate Hydra soldiers (or at least Lego close) in the What If . . . set. -
There is a video in the usual IG place of Mario in the penguin outfit saying Luigi three times, two as if he is searching (the second with eye darts) and one as if he has found him.

That does work for some iterations of the character. My issue is that Punisher wears a headband in the comics I have, red or white. -

For a comic Punisher, he is quite accurate. He is slightly balding in a number of his appearances. The blue lines are about how his muscles, and body armor, under the shirt gets depicted in some comics. That is more often than not when he appears in other characters' titles, usually Spider-Man. Since the set is The Daily Bugle, this version makes sense. Lego would never make how he appears in Marvel's MAX graphic novels. The same with Nick Fury. This version goes a long way to how he looks in What If . . . Wolverine Was Lord Of The Vampires. All he needs is a Doctor Strange cape, with the Eye of Agamotto (comic version), and one of the Batman heads with that white band for his headband. -

People keep mentioning the helmet, but I'm hoping for removable armor. A bigfig that can properly have body wear would open up all kinds of possibilities. (The Thing in his trench coat!) -

For all the interest in the figs, there is almost no discussion on potential new parts, or recolors, in the sets themselves. The Benatar should have at least some interesting parts used for the cockpit alone. Luis' van should give us something, what with that quantum realm technology in the back. We could see that new 2x2x2/3 ridged brick be used in serious numbers in The Daily Bugle. -

The print does look pretty close to the level of subtle detailing on Shang-Chi, but yeah, it's still suspect in my eyes. -

A full Puente Antiguo scene for $150, including Sif, The Warriors Three, Jane Foster, Darcy Lewis, and Erik Selvig. They could even give us pre-Avengers Coulson (subtle distinction, granted, but it;s there). -

I still want this version of Cap, but it would probably be this version. He has his own motorcycle, with shield mount, in that scene. The Bucky rescue sequence only has a quick shot of the Hydra motorcycles. -
Actually Fabuland got a mini-revival in 2000 with Disney's Mickey Mouse. It used a lot of Fabuland parts, and the figs were of similar size. That's why some of the oversized parts persisted well into the 2000s.

There is a Marvel character with a similar costume to Daredevil (actually inspired by), but with yellow, Demolition Man (not Sylvester Stallone). His origin story has to do with the Power Broker, so those who watch The Falcon And The Winter Soldier should be on the lookout for a character named Dennis Dunphy. -

I think @sunhuntin means the Broadway stage production. It was quite a big deal at the time. -

I made a suggestion, before we knew what the D2C was, that Lego could make a TV build to look like the one Darcy uses in the show (different from the NES one) with a couple different scene builds that could be placed inside it. That would have made an awesome a $300 set. -
