  1. What I found interesting in QMing him and playing alongside him in Quest#20 was that Guts seems almost exactly the opposite of Tarn - he's old, cynical and perhaps doesn't have a pure heart.
  2. My goal was to distance Tarn from being the stereotypical Barbarian, so I play him almost as a Knight. He is young and naive, but has a good heart. I really need to do some more roleplay because even after 3 Quests I do find him a bit boring.
  3. I should have signups soon, but what I don't want is these 3 high profile Quests all on at the same time, leaving no players. Although mine will be pitched at new players, so perhaps there will be a few left afterwards.
  4. Don't forget that you have 100 gold and a bone gifted to you by Sir Glorfindel. edit - I see you took that into account with your post at the same time as this, in the Hall. Nice one!
  5. I thought you did well, Scuba. The Quest was interesting and you certainly picked a "who's who" of Heroica talent to play with you, which helped as they knew what they were doing, and posted lots.
  6. Tarn comes back to a bustling Hall, full of heroes, some he recognised, and he nodded and shook hands with several of them. The hubbub at the Quest Board had just about died down, and Tarn decided to sign up for Quest#30: Ambassadors of Dastan and also Quest#31: Lions and Lambs. That done, he took a large mug of mead and sat at a table on his own, listening to the many voices of the hall.
  7. Tarn walks up to Elphaba's Wagon. Gems have always perplexed him but the Quests he had been on had certainly showed him their usefulness. His battle axe, Kyrferath (Wave of Light) had been imbued with an Aquamarine gem already, but he wanted to add more. He politely asked the green-skinned woman for an Opal and a Topaz (355 gold - 200 = 155), and sold his bone to her (155 + 5 = 160). With the gem in hand, he went across to Anywl to get the Opal and the Topaz merged into Kyrferath (160 gold - 50 - 50 = 60 gold). Whilst he was there he sold Anwyl his Pole Axe (WP:3) for 15 gold (3x5) (60 + 15 = 75) and picked out a Fauxthril Spear as a backup weapon (75 - 50 = 25). He handed Anwyl the Writ of blacksmith's service he had acquired at the successful conclusion to Quest#20 to get the spear upgraded from WP:5 to WP:6. Tarn stowed his new spear but did not name it yet. The weapon had not yet seen combat. However Tarn marveled at the new version of his battle axe. He would rename it Helbaerend, the Icy Barrage. Finally he heads to Portia and picks up a Smelling Salts (25 - 25 = 0). Bereft of coin but loaded with new weaponry, Tarn returns to the Hall.
  8. Wow the Quests are coming thick and fast at the moment! I will have to hold mine off at this rate.
  9. Thanks JimB, that does help. And thanks for the recommendation too, I will certainly be looking at Opal again.
  10. I hate to say it but I'm still confused about the multiple gems and what they're effective against or not. From what I've read, if something is ineffective then there is nothing you can do to counteract that. I'm guessing that's for balance. If I had a Ruby and an Aquamarine, the Aqumarine wouldn't counter the weakness against fire/rock? So it would mean that if you want multiple gems in one weapon that you are best off chosing ones that are effective against multiple types to gain double damage, with the balancing drawback that you are adding one or two types that the weapon will be useles against.
  11. Tarn wanders back in to the Hall, lost in thought. He absently checks the Quest Board and decides to sign up for Quest#28: The Breakthrough, even though he is not quite at the level that the flyer indicated, because he feels that he would represent Heroica well. He also signs up for Quest#29: Journey to Dastan, as he has not been to that part of Olegaia. After signing his name in surprisingly handsome script, albeit with his tongue poking out in concentration, Tarn leaves to check out the Marketplace.
  12. I think you Quarry Questers are in serious trouble here, that dragon has a raft of specials and such high level and health.
  13. Yes, that's true. I guess I'm then asking if it's worth picking up Ice and Lightning from Elphaba while I can.
  14. As I said earlier, I am looking to add two gems to my existing Water one. Looking at Ice, Lightning, Light and Darkness. Any opinions on which are best in play?
  15. Thanks Scuba, although she didn't become an actual enemy, Sorona was a blast to use as an NPC. The fact that your quest guide was so bloodthirsty was a lot of fun, but I appreciate that you guys in the Quest had to deal with that.
  16. Darth Nihilus, Tarn never went straight back to the Hall. He is currently wandering around near the marketplace, wondering if he should buy a couple of gems to enfuse with Kyrferath, and if so, which ones.
  17. I did actually do an evil chuckle once Gorg got eaten by my crocodile.
  18. With his conversation about their respective quests curtailed because of Elgar's success in landing another Quest, Tarn decided to leave the Hall and go to see Ellaria. The V-Mail system had given him her address, so a few minutes later the lanky Barbarian stood in front of Old Spriggan's Apotechary on Marlin Road, and nervously knocked on the door. An elderly gentleman answered the door, who Tarn assumed was the pharmacist that she had mentioned. Tarn asked for Ellaria and he ushered him up a narrow, creaking staircase into a neatly furnished room. "Tarn!" cried Ellaria. Tarn gave her a quick hug, and marvelled that he bump wasn't showing. Then Ellaria pulled away, towards a cot that Tarn hadn't initially noticed, and lifted her newborn baby up and cradled her in her arms. "You've had the baby already? I must've been in that mine longer than I thought!" said Tarn. "Yes, I was lucky, I had Tesni and Alexis with me," said the Cleric. Tarn amiled, he had gone on his first Quest with all three heroines. "I am glad that you had good friends around you for the birth. I would have given anything to be there too." "I know, Tarn", said Ellaria quietly. She offered Tarn the chance to hold the baby, and he accepted, gingerly cradling her in one arm. "What's her name?" he asked, in a low voice, as he stroked the infant's cheek. "Elpis, my speck of hope." "She's beautiful, like her mother." Ellaria mumbled a thanks but was clearly uncomfortable with the compliment. Tarn didn't press it. He handed Elpis back to Ellaria, just as the baby let out a loud burp. "Handed her back just in time!" he grinned. "I have to go now, I need to make us of Elphaba's Magic Wagon before she leaves. You never know when that will be! But it has been great to see you. See both of you!" he said, still taken aback by the fact that Ellaria had had her baby. He hugged them both carefully, and whispered, "If you need anything, I will be here for you." Ellaria nodded, and smiled. Tarn's heart raced, but he turned and left. He walked the streets of Eubric, his mind encumbered with thoughts and dreams. He knew he felt something for the young Cleric, but now was not the time to act on it. All he could do was be a good friend to Ellaria, and that was what he intended to do. This was written with the blessing of Sandy, thanks!
  19. Like Brickdoctor, I did really enjoy playing in The Coming Darkness. It doesn't get much of a mention because of it being a mafia/mystery hybrid but I felt that the short time we had each day really made people more active, and the clue cards made people feel like they could all contribute.
  20. It's great to have so many regulars back in the Hall. Love seeing all the conversations and roleplay
  21. That was the whole point. To do that three times, when after the first and second times several people carefully explained to him why it was a bad idea and impolite to do it, well, it's clear that he just doesn't get it.
  22. I don't want to appear harsh, but it is basic, common courtesy not to involve other characters in your roleplaying without prior permission. Three strikes and you're out?
  23. There are a few of us who have already passed Mafia School that have put our names down. Obviously we are not doing it to take the place of any newbies to Mafia but Sandy does need 16 people so it's worth putting your name down if you are interested in playing.
  24. Tarn drank mightily, wiped his mouth with his forearm and then responded to Elgar. "I lead a party into Silverpick Mine, near my home village in the Titaan mountains. There we found some strange creatures, like giant spiders and a crystal gobbler that was the cause of the disappearing gems. It is good to be back in the Hall. I hope you fared well in your Quest, and that the town is safe?"
  25. I would be in that last category, having played in Gotham Mafia and Yakuza Family recently, however those are the only 2 advanced games I have been involved with and I was not particularly happy with my performance in either one. I loved the preview of the characters shown before in the other thread so I will indeed try my luck and sign up. My favourite fairy tale is Robin Hood, if that counts. If not, I guess The Three Little Pigs will have to be it. Especially the Green Jelly version.
