^ Nice render for 2nd one, bublible. How to use HDR lighting? #1 & #2 Sunsky & spherical lights compare: #3 & #4 Dark trans problem can also fix by make another render with trans part only, then phototshoped. It seems like Bluerender can not render chrome part very well? koensayr_y-pod L.lxf by Nachapon S., on Flickr Capture 2 by Nachapon S., on Flickr s30_fairladyz L.lxf by Nachapon S., on Flickr 21004 by Nachapon S., on Flickr

@DasMatze: Thanks for share the "LEGO Worlds" game link. It looks fun, like minecraft in Lego version. I will buy and try it. I think Bricksperience still useful if LW don't allow to import model from LXF or LDR, or have very limit of brick type. It would be great if user and add custom bricks/decals into Bricksperience.- 16 replies

I think bluerender still much faster than POV-Ray low setting, at least in these case. - Huge quantity of bricks. POV-Ray low setting still take long time to parsing. Bluerender parsing very fast. It always start to render very fast. (if no error) - Many trans parts. Bluerender render trans parts almost the same speed as non-trans part. But POV-Ray slow down a lot rendering trans parts. (especially overlap/big/complicate trans parts)

@Shroud: I play a little source engine before, but Unreal engine is completely new to me (just try it today). It seems easier to learn and very powerful. As you can watch or download many UE4 tech demos on internet. It can do almost everything we can imagine for sure ;-)- 16 replies

The good of Bluerender is fast trans part render speed. Many trans tile buit sails @2K res took only 8.x min. If render this model with Povray it will take forever. So we can use Bluerender to render cheese slope mosaic pattern. Almost only one factor of render time is quantity of pixels. sail.lxf by Nachapon S., on Flickr LDD Trans tile buit sails _2K res 8.x min render by Nachapon S., on Flickr

Just know that Unreal Engine 4 is free for everyone form March 2015, So trying it today to import some obj bricks model. It would be nice if DasMatze or someone can make a tool to import Lego model from LXF or LDR with auto material / bevel shader. Then we get a zero wait real time rendering tool! Even make some fan-made Lego game!! IF YOU LOVE SOMETHING, SET IT FREE... LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
Nachapon Bricks replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Add the 7th selection tool: "drag to select only visible bricks" (same as some 3D software) It will be very useful to simplify the model (minimal brick count). Good for huge MOC (prevent LDD crash) and speed up rendering. Just group all visible(external, shell) bricks together -> invert selection -> Delete all hidden(structure, core) bricks at once. The smaller modules lxf files keep full version, the bigger all modules assembly file use "shell" version to prevent LDD crash. -

Thank for this great tool! Train model below (4,238 bricks) took only 1 min 39 sec! This rendering speed is good for making animation. Suggestions: - Trans clear part material is too dark. (train headlight & windows of nanoblock castle below) - Error if render scene with many kind of different bricks. (out of memory?) The road part model by Dilvish. The 4000 bricks left 10189 Taj Mahal was import from LDD without any building steps. It took about 10 minutes loading time on my notebook PC (i7 3630QM, GTX660M, RAM8Gb, SSD). Walking/jumping virtually inside the model is great fun already! Not just a building game, Bricksperience can be use as Lego model viewer tool / screenshot tool / Maze game, jumping game creator etc.. Good job! The first image looks like a CG rendering :D

Amazing! almost perfect. Just some brick gaps look like black line. Can't see the reflection of bevels and texture on roof tiles. Great job for Scrubs and DaPhatty that can build this model on Mecabrick . For close up. MODO(cost) render is more photo-like than Blender(free) one. Can you make more rendering form different angle, and on the wooden plane?

For print decal: Just made a quick test. Place a 2x2slope(with decal) 2 unit above the target 2x3slope. In povray: Z value of the 2x2slope minus 2 before render. I will find out a better position and share the template in the ldd2povray topic soon. For sticker decal: Have to use old LDD V4.2.5 and use a 2x2 tile and edit its lxfml to scale it to sticker size, and make its thickness to almost zero hight. cs test 2 by Nachapon S., on Flickr cs test 3 by Nachapon S., on Flickr
