  3. What about WETA in New Zealand? ;-)
  4. Dude! You shoudl try to get yourself a very well paid job in the prop making industrie or whatever! You got soooo much talent! :'-)
  5. *hides begind a huuuge Mega Bloks BURP in advance* Okay guys, last week I bought this Pirates Of The Caribbean set from Mega Bloks and I think nobody gets any damage by having a look at what the "enemy" is producing! :-P So have a close look and maybe you will think different about Mega Bloks afterwards. Or not. Judge for yourself ;-) 1027 - Water Wheel Duel (MEGA BLOKS) The box: Unlike most of TLC's standard paper boxes the Mega Blok boxes aren't completely rectangular but got a octagonal shape. This makes them optically more interesting though storing them is more difficult. (Hey, I'm working in a toy shop storage, I got to think about those aspects too! :-P ) The first impression after opening the box is somewhat similar to a opened LEGO box, you see several plastic bags stuffed with parts. Different is that EVERY SINGLE content of the box comes packaged into a bag, even the instruction booklet and huge parts. Well let's talk about the set: The front. The back. The overall idea of the set is really funny, actually it resembles the spirit of this particular movie scene quiet well. What is NOT that good is both the use of huge specialized parts and the quality of the bricks itself. The building at the left is made out of TWO(!!!) huuuge wall parts which have a great realistic look but haven't the smallest LEGO feeling to it! BURP in the extremest way! Actually not really a BURP but a PBUWP (Painted Big Ugly Wall Piece). *n* The roof of the right buiding is a single piece too! *n* The walls itself are build from smaller pieces and resemble basic LEGO parts, but with a stone structure. THIS is an aspect I really like, Mega Bloks produces "basic bricks" with a slightly modified shape that produces a castle'ish stone wall effect! An example is the small wall at the right side. I wish they'd make sets with larger quantities of those particular bricks (and the slopes and arcs you saw at the right building), a huge castle made by this parts sure would look very interesting! Let's finally discuss the parts, assessories and figures: The figures: (back) Somehow I like them, though I can't really see any LEGO spirit in them. They are more like tiny action figures. Especially Jack resembles its real life counterpart really good (considering they are minifig sized!) and also the Orlando Bloom fig (forgot the movie character's name) isn't that bad, in this case the picture doesn't give the real figs any justice. And even if it doesn't look like that you are able to take the figures apart, the legs, the arms and the head are all detachable from their ball joint connection. Oh, and both arms and legs have a hinge (or is it a joint?) in the middle, therefore they are a LOT more posable than minifigs (action figure feeling...) Assessories and cool parts: Yeah, the real positive aspect of the set! You might have noticed that I'm not really a LEGO purist, I'm always in search of nice parts that could expand my LEGO collection with new ideas. And those I got with this set! The gold pieces are a great invention IMO, and also the small lantern looks great. But what I like really much are the new plants and the weapons, which could give some positive variation to the LEGO look we are used too. In my next Pirates MOC I will incorporate some of those parts to see if they fit to LEGO as nicely as I hope. Fin.
  6. *stands up* Hi my name is Daniel and I'm at the AA meetings since their beginnings... Wait... Uh, we aren't at the AA, right? 8-| *sits down* Okay, let's begin again: Hi, I am ApophisV or Apo or Daniel (just as you want) and I am very close to my 23th birthday. I helped developing Eurobricks nearly since its very beginning. Lately I am not that active due to my job and university (and other things in my life that happened lately) that keep me VERY busy... My Dark Ages (notice the capital letters! :-P ) ended with the Star Wars line and since them I became very addicted to LEGO again. Currently I am not that active LEGO-wise meaning I spend not much money on it the last months and I didn't build anything for weeks. But this might change with the winter holidays and christmas (I'll get Vladeks Dark Fortress! >:-) ) coming this weekend! :-D So I did my duty with posting here (anybody noticed me posting more often again lately? ;-) ) and now I will write a picture review! (You guys will hate me afterwards >:-) ) So see ya around! Hey! I am NOT gone! I am just.... not here... much... 8-| :-P
  7. Nah, just the Droid set so far. BUT I bought the Viking ship because I feared that it could be sold out after christmas... Afterwards I heared that my mother got the Viking ship for me for christmas too... :S
  8. My toy store in Aachen (Teddy & Co) now has both Battle Packs, the Imperial Landing Craft, AT-ST and the Grievous Starfighter.
  9. I think you could use the head of the elephant and add it to a custom build body.
  10. Today my toy store got most of the january '07 sets, including this craft (but excluding the Y-Wing :'-( ). And after having a close look at the box I have to admit that this is such a terrible set! The figs are okay, but the craft itself is really bad designed. And I would NEVER EVER spend 65 Euros for it! Never! Even with my 20% off it will always be a No-No. The rest of the line looks alot better than expected though, especially the Battle Packs and the Grievous Fighter are great!
  11. Yeah, I announced this three month ago. Outside the Pirates forums though ;-) I was supposed to work there for the christmas time (which is naturally a very busy time at toy stores) but since they are very satisfied with my work they asked me to stay and work one or two days the week there! And I said... YES! X-D Yes, I think so. In families with average income especially the larger sets (beginning with 20 or 30 $/
  12. I noticed that we are currently selling at least 5 times more Playmobil than LEGO, and this a few days before christmas... I think people see that Playmobil (actually the company's name is Geobra Brandst
  13. Somewhat late this year, but lets show some Christmas-(or whatever you celebrate)-Spirit! Mine is done! <-------------
  14. Thanks for the nice words to all! Unfortunately not. I'm not sure how much exactly I'm allowed to buy, but my boss explained to me that I am supposed to use this rabatt only for my private usage. And since I'm buying alot there lately (not only LEGO) I am afraid that they won't let me buy that much more soon... :-P Besides, the prices we have often are alot higher than the usual store prices which makes my 20% rabatt to a 5% rabatt to the average market price ;-) Lol, I'll tell my sister about this since she is waiting for HER digicam for almost two months now ^^ Unfortunately we only got this single set so far. But when the other army builder set will be delivered I'll have it immediatelly! ;-) Really? I had the impression that they are very solid and strong. But time will tell I think. And besides, SBD arms aren't that expensive from now on anymore! ;-) That's why I used deeplinks AND added "after moderation" after the gallery link.
  15. Hey all, due to my job I hadn't been too active in the LEGO community lately, but since we got this new SW set this week (which I immediatelly bought ;-) ) and it's my free day today I tought it is time for a review! ;-) 7654 - Droids Battle Pack The box: And what's dropping out of it: If you wish a closer look at the parts clicky here, here and here! Then let's show the build model itself: The Stap is really nice though I still prefere the original one from 7121 - Naboo Swamp because the old one was less fragile and also not as bulky as the new one. Sure, the new one has an elegant and curvy design and resembles the movie thing better than the old one, but it hasn't this nice miniature vehicle feeling to it. (Okay, I have to admit that the Naboo Swamp was my very first Star Wars set, so I might be influenced by nostalgic feelings ;-) ) The letdown of the set is surely the Droid Transport since it is basically nothing more than a few parts on two 8 x 4 plates. No tricky build, no hidden extras, just nothing. Okay, the front can turn slightly (maybe 5 or 10
  16. :armada1: is my favourite of those two. The other armada guy looks very great too! Though I don't really like X-O, I think his face looks somewhat overloaded. This expression would look better in a face with less facial hair so it would be clearer what exactly the smilie means. BTW, don't forget to replace the standard Post Icons with some decent pirate smilies! ;-)
  17. What about him: :capn:
  18. Lol, you are welcome. ;-)
  19. *shivers* I.... need.... to watch... this.... *still shivers* Since I have to wait for #3 I think I will have a Spidey 1 & 2 DVD evening tonight ;-)
  20. Look at this: You sure had a unique entry there! ;-)
  21. I have read a survey a few years ago that found out that "beauty" comes from an as average face as possible. Meaning that if you take pictures of hundreds of girls (and for men it surely works too) and you morph them all together you should get a "perfect" face. Weird if you ask me... 8-|
  22. Actually after getting a nice make-up and a great hair style this girl really became a real beauty. After the photoshopping she looked like an undercover alien intruder... 8-| (Anyone remeber this cone-boobed Mars Attacks! alien? :-D ) I really like this video and I think I'll show it to my little sister (15 years old) soon, it sure have some educative sense.
  23. :-O That is probably the most impressive animated movie I've seen since years! That must have taken ages to produces! All those details! Just look at the moving brickmade water! Impressive!
