    Teaser

Some will recognize it, some won't, but all of you will be able to have a look at it tomorrow when I edited all the images I took today! ;-) Stay tuned!
  2. Space Police! I LOVE that thing! BTW, sne, could you add the names of the vehicles to the description beneath the overview image? The names aren't selfexplanatory, at least not for those that aren't Space-Junkies.... ;-)
  3. Thanks for the congrats, today I got the confirmation, I will start at october, 4th! :-D Though this means wakingup at 7.30.... That's so early considering I'm a student! ;-) :-P
  4. Somehow I have the slight feeling we already had a similar thread like this... 8-| ...... ;-)
  5. It's "Teddy & Co" very close to the cathedral in Aachen. Actually I will work in their storeroom and not as a "seller"... But I will be the one who recieves and brings the huge LEGO deliveries into their storeroom! >:-) Today they recieved a huuuge box (approx1.5m high) with City Advent Calendars :-D
  6. Hey all, just wanted to announce that I probably will work in Aachen's largest toy store this winter!!! :-D :-D Today I had some test working and I think they will take me for sure! So call me Mister Toy Store from now on! >:-)
  7. As a child I always loved Playmobil. It was only 2nd after LEGO, but nonetheless one of the best toys I ever had. A pity that my small sister (actually not that small anymore) grew up and doesn't play with Playmobil anymore, it was always so much fun to build huge dioramas using all those rocks and trees and plants and animals she had when she was younger! :-D My children will surely get lots of Playmo, though their LEGO pile will probably be a lot bigger than anything else in their rooms... ;-)
  8. Happy Birthday! :-)
  9. No. Topic closed.
  10. I second this! :-D Comics are even cooler than LEGO!!!! *runs quickly away and hides behind a huge pile of comic books fearing to get hit by bricks*
  11. Once again a chance to complain about Minigun swinging LEGO figures! *sweet* My Ex-Girlfriend mentioned to me in 2002 that LEGO had never produced any non-smiling minifig faces. Even the "bad and evil" pirates had a smiling mouth under their mustaches. back then a LEGO face always was a classic Smiley with "additional painting" (hair, mustache, glasses), but ALWAYS featuring the classic smile. Nowadays this smile only comes up in his classic form, every other face is designed completely from scratch. And IMO it's a pity that the design of today's faces hasn't really anything to do with the old school LEGO look. (Look at the Exo-Force designs, they doesn't resemble any LEGO like face anymore)
  12. Apophis: Whohooo - every 16year old boy needs a villain's name as his nick, so I took Stargate SG-1's 1st season bad megablocks. "V": Short for Voodoo, leftover of my Voodoo fascination, I was even younger than 16 years when I chose it. So you see, my name lasts since more than 6 years or so ;-)
  13. Erm, what exactly IS "Wii"?
  14. Ha! Dana and me had a very similar situation a short while before our relationship started! ;-)
  15. Sure we got great sets, but I really can't connect this nice LEGO feeling I had in my youth to most of them anymore. And this is a point where I think TLC did the mistake and not me. They stopped making fastidious toys with lots of educative worth and instead they produce the same heartless stuff like most of the other money-focussed brands do. And that's a shame IMO. Sure, the construction quality of the sets has increased the last one or two years, but in exchange they lost a lot of soul and character by focussing on creating "cool" and violent sets instead of solid classic sets. LEGO doesn't feel the same as it did some time ago. Now where I think about it I realize that I had exactly the same feeling the year before my last dark ages. 8-|
  16. Really? I hadn't seen this line yet. And it seemed to be really new, those sets doesn't even appear at the english homepage of Playmo...
  17. When I was out for getting some stuff for university I have seen this: New Roman Playmobil Line I got a small leaflet showing all the sets and historical facts going along. They got sets with accurate figs (politicans, slaves, gladiators, soldiers,...) and very accurate vehicles (siege tower, galley), places (arena, camps) and other nice stuff! And you might already have noticed an important aspect making those toys so great: ACCURACY! Yes! TLC, look at them! There IS NO (Yes, it's right! ZERO! NONE! NADA!!) Minigun and NO shooting mechanism at the galley! The horses don't carry any catapults! And now the most awesome news: there is NO laser gun included! Yipee! *sweet* Yeah, I wish I were AFOP instead of AFOL....
  18. I really can second this feelings. Since the Event in Windsor I didn't really spend any money on LEGO. And I probably won't anymore this year. I started saving some money for the Viking longboat but I've already spend it for ther things. I didn't build much MOCs this year either, especially nothing that was really something special for me. For my absence from the LEGO world there are three reasons: 1.) Money: Nowadays I spend most of the money I used to spend on LEGO for comics which became quiet expensive since I am collecting 90% of the Marvel comics that are released here in Germany. And building always with the same parts you are used to gets boring after some time. 2.) Classic sets: The Vikings from 2005 were the last sets that had a bit of the classic LEGO feel to it. The two new Viking sets lost almost everything of that feeling, cool accessorie packs, but nothing else. The wheels of the carts look like canister caps and the blue dragon only would need five or six miniguns and some transparent parts to look like another Exo-Force crap thing. The Batman line sure is cool, but for me as a Marvel fanboy those sets aren't much more than nice parts packs. Expensive ones actually. Finally we got Exo-Force. Yes, I really HATE this Pokemon-Yu-Gi-Oh-Whatever-Manga'ish look to it. I got some of the sets, but only because they are great parts packs. Conclusion: Most of this year's sets are missing alot of the charme LEGO had in the 80's and 90's. Last year TLC brought back this charme with the vikings, but they didn't manage to keep it up for 2006. 3.) Shooting mechanisms: I am NOT completely against military or violent toys. Okay, I wouldn't buy them and if I ever get kids they won't get those too. But including Miniguns and shooting mechanism and rifles and laser guns (Even if this is EXACTLY looking like a Minigun it is INTENDED to be a futuristic Laser gun kids would never recognize as a weapon that destroys and kills! And the yellow-orange stuff at the illustration isn't muzzle flash but funny shaped flowers coming out of the lazer gun! Yeah, good ol' LEGO is soooo harmless! We hate violance!) Really, LEGO isn't anymore what it used to be. 4.) Summer time: Yeah, another reasons why I wasn't building much lately. It's not that funny to sit into your room and build something if you know it's sunny outside and you could have ice cream in the city and watch all those pretty girls in their short skirts... ;-) (*awaits angry comment from dana*) Nowadays the temperature here in Germany isn't more than 15
  19. Nice Save Pluto campaign: See it at Worth1000.com
  20. Damn, I thought this was me... :'-(
  21. Okay guys, Dana just looked at this thread and told me that she is feeling slightly uncomfortable with the direction this topic seems to go... (I'm not sure, but I think it was the people-from-the-internet-imaging-how-she-looks-when-she-is-only-wearing-an-edible-lego-bra that makes her uncomfortable.... :-$ ) So please let this topic from now on not go out of control, okay? (Yeah, this call counts for me as well... *wacko* ) We are talking about a respected member here and therefore we should keep up that respect towards her! ;-) Thanks in advance! :-P
  22. I'd make them from edible candy material.... Erm, I think this this topic should get a Adults-Only-Tag... ;-)
  23. It seems like TLC likes those Miniguns, but I'm not really sure if we need THAT much realism: I mean, building the gun itself already seems very odd to me considering TLC's No-Violence agenda, but even adding details like the chains to it is a bit much IMO... :-/ LEGO surely lost almost everything of their former friendly-play aspect...
