  1. Splurged a little today. Won a few auctions on the eBay. Picked up 3 duplicate sets , 7637 Farm for $85 + $14.95 ship, 7684 Pig Farm for $24.99 + $9.99 ship, 7994 City Harbor w/ 3177 Small Car for $150 + $20ship, and one I didn't have 7739 Coast Guard Patrol Boat and Tower w/ 5621 CG Kayak for $68.99, shipped w/ 7994. Not perfect in price, but not to bad for these discontinued sets.
  2. Awesome soccer stadium you have there! It was a nice touch to add a jumbotron screen or whatever it's called
  3. Awesome job! Beats the H**L outa the one offered by TLG Keep it up Derfel!
  4. Looks like a heavier version of me! Great work, I always like to see your new vig Keep it up. BTW do you scrap old ones for parts and what kind of camera do you use?
  5. Great job on this loco Hoexbroe :thumbup:Haven't seen too many 8 wides before. Much more realistic. Love how you designed the pivot points, much better looking then the 10183 Hobby Train. And awesome job on the detail on the pantographs! Keep up the good work and indeed thank you Santa!
  6. Thanks kinjai, lightningtiger, and jth781 for being the first to see and comment on what I can only say was a sneak peak of my city.
  7. That may be an option, however, you have to remember that more weight equals less torque for pulling cars. I use the 9V system and it also struggles with inclines even slight. The PF motors handle it best because of the rubber bands on the traction wheels. Another solution I will be exploring hopefully this year is the grade conversion. (i.e. 1:1 to Lego 1:42? scale) Actual standard US rail lines use no more than a 2% unless accompanied by "helper" engines. I am no mathematician but, I can figure the basics by what will be able to run. I'm not sure if you have long trains or if you are running stock sets. Too bad there isn't a simple motor swap that we could use Good luck with the route you choose!
  8. I had the same initial thought a while back. How would power get to the buildings. Building a bunch of power poles would be neat, but expensive in parts. I've seen them on eBay and are a little high. I would like to build a sub station as I don't have enough of the right parts to build numerous of these smaller boxes. Great idea though
  9. I used Leg Godt Gud because I have a Lego city. I'll explain, Leg Godt is the basis for Lego. For those who don't know, it is Danish and translates to "play well". In Latin it can be interpreted to "I put together", makes sense. The Gud translates to God. I use this as I am my city's creator, and have the power, though not divine , to make my city prosper or be destroyed. In this hypothetical theory, I am a God... of plastic . If translated to English it sounds a bit weird. I kept in it's phrase in homage to the origin of Lego.
  10. I have two cats as well, brothers. "My" cat Smoky, follows me like a dog , loves my Lego Room. He has a few spots in there where he curls up in a ball surrounded by cars or boats if he's in the harbor. Rocky just likes to sit in the middle of the closet and look around. I like to keep them out most of the time when I'm working in there due to dander. Invested in one of those Sharper Image Ionic Breezes. It actually does pull a lot of dirt outa the air, but since it charges the air it leaves the smell of electricity, imagine a the smell after a lightning storm, but without moisture in the air. Found my missing cat, Penny Kittie, yesterday. She had been missing since October. It seems she accidentally fell in the private pool near our house. I think she passed from hypothermia rather than drowning. May she rest in peace R.I.P. Penny Kittie 2006-Oct. 17,2010
  11. Neat topic, I figure I should contribute, today I purchased 6649 Street Sweeper, 6517 Water Jet, and 4002 Riptide Racer for $39.31 (got shafted $12 on shipping ) 6581 Dig N' Dump for $11.76 Thank you ebay anyhow!
  12. Great MOC Andybear! You really built this train well. Keep up the great work
  13. Nice setup danim! You have one busy city for sure. I noticed, like my city, you are losing the never ending battle against dust That stuff drives me nuts and mine is in its own closet! Took me two weeks to disassemble, clean and reassemble. Anyway keep up the good work. I know the troubles of acquiring matching roadplates. I have none of the ones currently sold by TLG, only the older green or grey. My construction firm, Elemental Construction, is great at laying down grey carpet for roads though

  15. Hello LegoSjaak, I forgot I read on an earlier post that it takes a day or so for a new members folder to go public. I don't see any other options on making it so. Hopefully it'll be available Monday.
  16. Greetings everyone. I have completed an actual black version I call the "Black Knight" and uploaded it to Brickshelf Search for member Cityslicker and click on folder named "Collection" for views of it next to the original E. Night, as well as green and black MOT engines. Enjoy!
  17. Greetings EBer's! I finally have the first shots of my city uploaded to Brickshelf. if you'd like to view them I posted the link below. Comments/criticism are welcomed. It's a bit crowded here, as I am currently cleaning and moving things around and oh yeah, I'm totally outa space. All new sets go straight to the attic for now. The open spaces are for walking to the back. As for the picture quality; I have a extremely outdated camera with terrible focus on smaller objects but, clean them up w/ iPhoto. I will be purchasing a new one soon. Hope you guys enjoy! So, heres a a city with no name [1995-2011] Edit for those who are checking this out: [New link] My city is no more; taken down a couple months ago in prep for eventual new, larger location and easier storage for my entire collection.
  18. Thanks for the help Big Cam and Whitefang. I read through the the index but, ran into another issue. I have a MAC book and am still learning how to use it. It is completely different than my old PC... Anyone know how to resize with this system? I have tried using the iPhoto software but can't find the picture resize function.
  19. Hello EBer's! I need help or advice. I know this is probably a redundant topic and topic but, I cannot find the right answers anywhere and it's driving me crazy I have been trying to upload my city, as well as, my MOCs. My problem is that all my photos that I import to my computer are all too big, 1.1-1.8mb per photo. I have tried cropping them etc to make them smaller, some getting below 1.0mb. Others not so much. What would be the best way to get these on here? Thanks in advance for any help offered!
  20. Very cool city you there simomwillems! Great job on lighting the town up. Keep up the good work!
  21. Great review! I really like this set. Unfortunately I am old school when it comes to my airlines. I do not own any of the newer large airplanes I bought a couple of these for the limo only. Not sure what I'm going to do with the the bird. Also, thoughts of the nose piece of the aircraft? I'm not a fan of that piece in particular. Looks kinda weird I think.
  22. Great Road Train MOC AussieJimbo! Thanks for the interesting facts on them too. I've always been fascinated by these monster trucks. One question, what is the regulatory max number of trailers being pulled on non-record breaking days? Keep up the awesome work! Kudos on the new info. Post the link of the video if you find one
  23. Great review. I have loved every camper set since the mid 80's. To me, this one was almost tied with only by the 6351 Surf N' Sail Camper from 1992. This look more realistic, like all now, compared to that era, but the S n S Camper had not only a nice interior and bike, but went a bit further to give you an entire wind surf board, as well as, a motorized sail boat and trailer. This camper really needed something to tow. As for the price of $16.99, I don't think its too bad. After all its LEGO; you get what you pay for: high quality Besides TLG autonomous robotic assembly line ain't cheap But back in 92' the S n S Camper retailed for $19.99, so I say: this is a win!
  24. Very nice airport Great job on MOCing it to an adequate size for the new style of jets and the awesome interior detail. This is how I wished all of TLGs airports were in size. ENORMOUS!
  25. I really liked this set. IThe number and diversity of the vehicles, plus the sidewalk shop and boarding platform. I gave it a 4/5 due to the price of the set seemed a little high. In my opinion the bus, or should I say coach, is nice but doesn't seem to fit well in the inner city. Its more of a long distance mode of travel; (the cargo storage and higher seating for better views). Still a really neat addition for any city.
