  1. Thats pretty neat AussieJimbo! curse that bulky battery box and IR sensor tho! Those seats are for paying customers! Also nice line up of trains. Are they all setup to PF? Welcome to Eurobricks and keep up the good work!
  2. Ha! That is too funny. I wonder where my city stands... 1 construction worker for every 4 civis, 1 cop for every 4, 1 fireman for every 9. Is it possible that Lego city was designed to be to perfect
  3. Thanks to all for your enlightenment on this topic. You all have made very good points. Agreed that if you other isn't supportive your probably in for trouble. In spite of that, great stories on how you and yours were able to get back into this hobby. Whether it was through having children or just the liking/ missing the creative aspect of such a great toy. I am very sorry about your loss Brickenhead-town-dweller, but happy to hear that you had ease in getting your partner to jump into Lego. I look forward to hear more from members, perhaps how you got into your 'dark age' ended. Any ladies care to share their affiliation with Lego and they're spouse? Keep em' comin!
  4. I'm 99.99% sure this is a re-release of the 2004, 10152 Maersk Container Ship. On Brickset 10155 is listed as similar to 10152. Its also listed on the newly redesigned Lego site. Check it out! I wonder if it will be cheaper than its first eddition of around $75
  5. Awesome UTE lightningtiger! I agree with Big Cam. The front is very sharp.. Nice low profile; aggressive. As far as the back, well lets say, definitly got the business up front, but no party in the back Off to a great first eddition. What I would do is go with the looks of that green Holden (assuming thats what it is. Not to familiar with Holden. Only its cousin, my Isuzu ) Anyways, I'd put black mirrors, a chrome, grey or black grille and fashion a smooth brown flatbed on the back. The tow rig on the back is a pretty cool idea too... A retro hot-rod inspired tow truck! If only I had spare parts for these 6 stud vehicles.. Alas still stuck around the 4 studs Anywhoo keep up the good work!
  6. Yes! Finally a new bank!! A couple of those would make a nice large MOCoff the original. Car chase looks nice to. Another sports car to go with 8402 Sport car and the yellow one from 8404. Hope they aren't going to be priced to high.. What do you all think of the the three new squad cars compared to the the recently discontinued? Personally, my favorite is from the car chase, then the one from the bank, the discontinued, finally the one from the new PD. Looks a little squatty. Kinda like that fire car from the more recent FD. Real tall; pretty short... eh.. Anyway kudos to most of these sets. BTW isn't that Maersk Liner the same one released 2004?
  7. Thanks for the input fred67, andythenorth, and peterab. You all made good points. Reality is that a larger rail line will need the integration of both systems or drop trains all together and just stay with what I have. Out of the 9 or 10 trains in my yard only 1 is PF. I like the cars on the new cargo train with the six wide containers but the passenger I will probably not purchase. It seems very similar to the metroliner. Atleast there is plenty of time before a new train comes out. Thanks again everyone!
  8. Awesome job RED FOX!! Very nice layout indeed. Any pictures of the city as a whole?
  9. Greetings everyone! Looking through numerous topics and reading about members cities, I find it very intriguing when they are a result of a joined effort. So, I would like to start this topic about how you and your special someone got into or back into Lego. As a young AFOL I can say that I don't think I could have ever use my city as a potential chick magnet. As a teen having a girlfriend, my collection never came up.. outa site, outa her mind. Now, teen years long gone, I will eventually have to retrieve my city from my parents home and install in my house, eventually letting her know.. "Yeah, I still buy and build Lego." That'll be interesting. So, I would love to read how you guys/gals got your better half into this wonderful little hobby! Hope to see some posts -LGG
  10. The low price of those RC track is appealing. But as an owner of many 9v motors/trains, would it be cost effective to switch to PF? With the price and hassle of changing batteries (FOREVER ), spending roughly $90 dollars per loco, and just the fact you have to figure a way to hide a GIANT battery box and sensor. Or spending that "small" fortune, getting 9v straights, switchers, and the 9V motors. On that note: What is too much? (I know; how important are these and what individuals are willing to pay... but monetarily speaking?) The prices are going up and probably aren't coming back down, for straights and switches. I have been tracking and buying these for the past year and recently hit a wall. In less than six months the price has gone from $35-$55 for eight straights to 4 pcs for the same price. Besides that, trains like 4559 Cargo Railway have no clean way to integrate PF and 4558 Metroliner would lose either its cargo bay or the little "electric motor" in the lead car . I gotta say I'm financially stuck between a rock and a hard place on this matter. Sell 9V go PF or try and merge the two? What to do...
  11. Well this is perfect then. I have no plans of moving my city in and out of the house either. I just need to have the flexibility to move the tables, if needed, as my city expands. Thanks Davey
  12. Thanks everyone for your friendly welcome into Eurobricks!
  13. Wow! That is a great large setup! I now have an idea of the scale of the size of table(s) and square footage needed for a my full display. Are your tables able to be moved for differnt configurations or were they connected to form a more or less permenent table?
  14. Those are a heck of a deal!! I purchased 1 Toys R Us truck just to have it for its rarity. Always wanted more but the price is a little to high at $45-55 USD. I wish I knew someone other than ebay buying sets in bulk and parting them. I do a little of that w that Cargo Train 7939 but always run into trouble when it comes to the PF engine as I have yet to set add RC tracks. No room for them but have begun starting a collection for later expantion. 9V is just getting too expensive! Oh well keep on brickin, cant't wait to see more of your photos/movies
  15. The only bad thing is it turns crazy wide.... But then again it is full sized to the max..... I need to make wide load markers for it.... Cool auto rack! Suggestion for possible slightly better turn ratio: move the triaxle trailer wheels a few studs forwad. Shorter wheel base= tighter turn radius. But not to far otherwise it'll throw off the look Good work tho!!
  16. Cool Cat design! I love this type of boat. I wish I had enough of the right pieces for the smooth curvature on the front of the hulls, alas they are not matching colors. Keep up the cool designs!
  17. Holy jeeza Teazza!! That is very impressive work! That thing looks massive. I wish I had the tracks to put on a realistic MOC crawler.
  18. Thank you for your help. That makes sense. I must have over looked that. As for the name, trasnlated its "play well God" or broken down to Lego God. Chosen bc I have large city and in that aspect I am its "creator" or God, as in, I can choose my layouts prosperity or fate. I don't take it serious, rather humorous, but I also kept it in Danish in homage of Lego home country, thats all. I'm pretty sure I translated it properly. If not, well Anyway thanks again for your help! Thank you for your help to the matter! See ya in the message boards!
  19. I have a large city in a triangular closet that was originally unfinished. Noty actually the attic but basically similar space with visible roof supports and loose plywood floor. This 3 1/2 ft by 13ft room was finished in 1996. Since then it has been filled with Lego with maybe a total of 5 sq feet to move around in. It is barely wide enough for me to walk thru with room for one of my feet in the last 4 ft of the room. Along with a 50 degree roof angle and max heighth of 5 1/2 ft I have little room to move around (I'm 6'4"). I love the floor layout, but have run out of usable room, even for vehicles. I want to move to a regular room IF I can figure a way to take one over. Thats another problem, but I would like to go to a table. My problem that relates to this subject is that my city takes up a solid 45 sq feet and thats only a little more than half of the sets owned. What would be a good custom plywood table design that offer the most area for sets but that allows easy reach access to all parts. To give an idea of part of the scale of this city My Harbor alone has 3 6541 intercoastal seaports, 3 6542 launch and loads, 2 7994 City harbors. This is only a small part. I need a table design for 500+ sets but have never seen a professional Lego dislpay live due to a living in a small city. Any advice is welcome especially those with room size table train layouts Thanks
  20. Awesome MOC Crabboy329!! Very detailed. The guy on the bridge in in black with sunglasses and binoculars looks like the Man vs. Food T.V. star Adam Richmond taking a gander at the yard! Must be a good restaraunt around!
  21. Great city LegoSjaak! I recently subscribed to you on YouTube (87Watchman). AFOL I'm guessing. I like how you have hung low flying aircraft (LFA). A suggestion if I may: I use 5 pound fishing test line to hang my aircraft. It has held my planes and helis for 14 years now. I just fed each strand thru and i-hook looped one around the front and one around the rear of the plane. Not only are they almost invisible they are stong, as they are intended on catiching fish. Another bonus is that the 5lb lines are thin enough to slip in between the small gap two side by side Lego elements so they cant slip off. I only have aircraft prior to 2006, before they became much larger, but I'm sure 5 pound would be sufficient enough for your larger aircrafts. I don't think your giant jet 7893 exceeds the weight limit, even if it was held by only one single stand. Let alone 4 (2 looped). Anyway, again great job on your city! BTW How many of the new 7939 cargo trains do you have? I thought my three were alot!
  22. I fully agree. Selling straight and curved track together may seem like a good marketing ploy, but only for the younger fans that may not have a specific design. For those AFOL, big spenders who have a city grid, such as myself, who need spcific pieces for their layout (particulary straight), you're scr***d and get stuck with a bunch of pieces you don't need and don't resell very easily.(sorry, run-on sentence) But same goes with the road plates. If I need multiple straight plates, I also have to get the same number in 4 way. I miss the 2 pack of the same plates from yester year and the sale of the 8 straight or 8 curved. This, of TLG, really angers me. I hope they go back to their original way of packaging. I miss 9V!!
  23. Glad I found this page. I am currently constructing The Black Knight as I call it. Named not only bc of its color but for fun reference from the Martin Lawrence movie 'Black Knight' :) Unfortunatly the sticker will still say Emerald tho no green is used. Need to find a place to make custom stickers. As soon as I get a new camera I will try and post pics with it along side of my Emerald Night and my black version and green version of my My Own Train engines and tenders. Onyx Night does sound good as well. Great idea, hope you can try to create one!
  24. Hello everyone at Eurobricks (especially those who read this). I am still relatively new to this forum and have searched through much of this site. I have a serious problem and can't find a solution to it and have tried to contact administration or help to no avail. Before I get to that I will tell a little about my history with Lego. Or just move down to my problem :) I have colected Lego since 1994 and now returned as an AFOL as of 2009 and a 7 year dark age. I have a very large city layout in a 3-1/2 foot by 13 foot, windowless, purified air, closet/room. I hope to get pictures as soon as I get a better camera. The city contains sets from 1982-pres.. As of returning to Lego in 2009 I have quickly been purchasing every set I wanted as a child in the 90's, as well as, many from the 80's. So thank you Lego S@H & Ebay. I am currently trying to expand my city into a bigger room as I can no longer add buildings, train tracks, or even road plates to my current city. Only a little more than half of my current collection is on display. The other sets are sadly in plastic bins or still in their box in my attic. Atleast they aren't getting dusty or tainted by the sun! My total collection consists of 518 city/town sets, 186 of them are duplicates, as well as 40+ MOCs, 40+ OPCs (other peoples creations), 15 lb parts bin, and still growing. I love building sets and MOCs, but as possibly being OCD I just can't take pieces from a set to use in a MOC anymore. So, lately, I just use left over pieces for more realism in current sets (i.e. engines, drivetrains, building interior/exteriors etc). That is about all for Lego and I. Now on to my problem. By the way I cannot contact administrators for help and the Help section doesn't seem to have answers. I've tried. Ok, I cannot view or have permission to view other members profiles (code #10221) or even view my profile (code #10245). This is driving me nuts! Please someone tell me what the deal is and how to correct this. I hope I am not breaking any rules by asking this, but I have no more options and I really like this site. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  25. Great city. Glad I found this off the Bay. Couldn't see much detail from there, just the vans. Your city and trucks are awesome and the work on the monorail is top knotch. You have a great talent in MOCing. I fully concur, one of the best MOC cities I've seen. Keep it up!
