Looking For Harbour Sets.
LEGO Guy Bri replied to RubeusHagrid's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Greetings RubeusHagrid. It's great you are interested in the harbor/marine scene. I love these sets myself and amassed quite a large bay area though most are still in storage due to lack of space. Like you, I had not been able to purchase these sets while they were still offered by TLG, so I paid over retail. My best advice for this matter is to check out your eBay.UK or eBay.US as these are where I found my deals over the past year. I started by picking $55-71 for three 6541 Intercoastal Seaport (blue ship). It was close to retail at $63.99. I picked up 3 6542 Launch and Load Seaport (red ship) from $78-112. I think that set retailed $85-100 from THG. For 2 6543 Sail n' Fly Marina I paid $90-$105, The first one I bought was a little steep. I have tracked them for a year or so before buying. They had stayed pretty close to that price as only 1-3 where listed at a time with many incomplete. Same goes for the most recent Harbor, the 7994 at $90 retail. Expect to pay $120 -160. I have picked up one for $145, one from a personal transaction that I lucked out on, and a third without the boat for $75. As for the smaller sets like the Jet ski racers, sandy point marina, race boat, etc, eBay is definitely where you wanna check. When I picked up some of those older sets (the ones I didn't already have) I got them for less than retail, some with free shipping or bundled with a few other items from the same seller. Always check sellers other items as they usually have similar sets from same era. Expect to pay $5-25 per smaller set. Unfortunately these are prices you can will have to cough up for these sets. I have spent the last two years scouring eBay for them. Occasionally you may get lucky and find one that only a few bid on; I've seen them but, forgot to bid in time. That being said you have to check eBay a few times a week. This is the best advice I can provide to get these wonderful sets without going bankrupt. Other than that, i suppose garage sales or classifieds. Anyway hope this helps and good luck in trying to get these! On last thing. If you haven't heard there will be a new Harbor, fishing boat, speed boat, small speed boat, and marina coming in June-July. There are photos linked in 2011 City Sets topic in the Lego Town forum -
Just received my 6 discount 3661 Bank and Money Transfer won from eBay and was surprised when the seller included 7741 Small Police Heli as a free gift Today I purchased a bundle pack from the same seller of another 7741 Small Police Heli, with 7285 Police Dog Unit, and 7286 Prisoner Transport for $34.19. I think original price for the three is over $40. I love this member! Also a new 9v switch point and 60 9v straight tracks and finally picked up a green brick separator, I don't know why, just always wanted one... Hope it works well.

Thank you lightningtiger and Decale for your kind comments. I actually build right outside the entrance but, have not added any new sets due to the lack of room. Any set that is not NIB is unfortunately put into large storage containers and placed in the dark attic to prevent UV damage and dust. Those that do end up in the city usually replace a different set(s). On the contrary, I have actually never stepped on a brick, just kicked over a minifig or two. Usually a fireman, when I spin around to get back out.. I have left 2 spaces (on either side of the crawler crane) with enough room in back for one or both feet, granted I have to crouch on the ball of my feet. Quite uncomfortable, I can only stay like that for a few minutes at a time:laugh: Being 6'3" with walls that reach 5'6" doesn't help but, the angle of the walls help greatly with balance. Something to lean and slide. Stop by anytime!

Greetings EBer's, I'd like to present my city layout. It was set up 1997-2011 and, obviously, years in the making. Most sets are from the 90's and early 2000's but, there are also fewer sets from the 80's and present. Since my "Dark Age' ended, it became extremely over crowded. This, I know. Since then, it has been boxed up in preparation for ease of move, whenever that happens, and for better conditions for the other sets not on display. Questions and comments are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks for viewing Here is a partial overview of the city, as well as a link to other pictures of the city, it's deconstruction, and the full collection Edit: Revised intro and new link

Awesome MOCs Selander We don't see too many Mercedes trucks in the states but, the ones I've seen compared to the ones you built look great. Perfect in detail! Keep it up

The three City sets you'd like TLG to release
LEGO Guy Bri replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
Great topic, here is what'd like to see: 1) A car dealership, we have decades of cars and trucks but, where did they come from (besides TLG). I think a large size building (not modular) with a 2 car showroom and couple offices. On the outside, have a fenced in area for a few more cars. Included should be 3 cars and four minifigs, 3 salesmen and 1 buyer. The price should be between $100-$120 2) A new up monorail. Not too much to explain. A rerelease 6399 Airport Shuttle or a redesigned 6 wide would be nice. Pricing $140-$170. 3) For the third I was thinking a new hospital but, eh there have been a few over the past two decades. So, I thought, how about something we have never had. I think a recycling center would be nice. TLG has given us plenty of recycling trucks but, nowhere to take it. It should include a dumping pit with a crane to scoop it to a conveyor belt to a crusher. It would need an office attached to overlook and a final product storage and a small flatbed truck. It would need at least 3 worker minifigs and maybe 1 manager. The price should be $100-$120 Thats what I'd like to see from TLG -

Great job Masked Builder I always thought a bout buying four of the 'tennis player' from the minifig series but, never thought about what I'd do for a net. You have a good and easy solution. Big thanks for you great idea a awesome MOC

Another lovely MOC you have created! Very nice design. Are the small round pieces and colors supposed to represent a cobble stone exterior. What ever it is I really like it, very elegant.

Great job on the design and execution of this MOC Teazza!

Awesome job on the mod Snapshot looks like you have successfully changed 7938 into a subway train, with the mod on the doors. Keep up the good work!

Thanks FuzzyLegoBricks and AussieJimbo for your kind words. I agree it's rather plain. I have recently purchased an extra pair of stickers (thank you eBay) for my Black Knight but, am not sure when I will apply them as it is currently in storage till expansion.

My personal favorite is 2150 Train Station from 1996. I liked the 4554 as well but, I think red looks much better. I think its most elegant than the others. Like it came out of the 1930's. This was the second Lego train set my parents bought me as a kid and one of my favorite sets I own.

I suppose it is... I actually received these with the rest of my old friends collection a couple months ago. He was helping his dad downsize stuff from his house and his and his four brothers Lego sets came up. Long story short, he knew I collected Lego, so he gave me two big boxes of mainly Starwars sets, a few Spiderman, and a few Batman. I rebuilt and sold all of the sets I could rebuild and split the profit but, liked these and kept them (Batman begin has my favorite car chase of any movie). Glad I did too after seeing what Artifex is asking. I would have started way too low. As a city collector, I always assumed it was a regular Batman set and never looked them up. This is why I will not claim or list it as a MOC, as i did not create. The Tumbler was mostly destroyed. Apart from the front I had to reconstruct the entire rear, armor plates, cockpit, and miscellaneous small parts. It took a me couple hours and a few BL bucks to rebuild so it would stay together and still look right. The Batmobile was not nearly as bad and required only a few small pieces.

Thanks LibertyWestmania and Decale for your comments! It's is indeed very crowded. I am still downsizing so I can get in to clean and have more space. In your quote above, were you referring to living space as in the city or as in a neighbor hood I could definitely use both... Especially a lot more room.

I found these on eBay.US. The user had 6 available on a 10% discount from $54.99 USD valid today only. They were $49.49 each + free shipping. Helluva deal I could not pass. Feel kinda bad for snatching all of them at a loss to him but, fair game. I never post multiple auctions of the same item for this reason alone. His loss, my gain.
