  1. Just unearthing this to add my most recent entry: 32x39: 1248 studs added! ...only 5,700 to go....
  2. Thank you! I agree that Agnes's methods, while unorthodox, are often effective. Thank you Kai! I really liked doing the texturing with the gold bricks, I think it helped with the ornate look of the building. Thank you Evan! I have Photoshop CS6 (a decade old) and I will see what filters I have available there. Thank you Blackbird!
  3. Good fig posing, as usual. I especially like how you did the lamps on the back of the ship. My one critique for the vessel, is the blackness is pretty all consuming, it could use some breaking up with more yellow.
  4. Another great build, and good usage of tiling to create a realistic landscape. The tree looks really good as well. I will say though, the town of wullham has a lot of sheep, and military patrols!
  5. great use of lighting, and an overall nice scene.
  6. Nice little scene! the coat rack is well done, and the rest of the furniture is excellent as well. I especially love the chess board though, I've never seen that done, and I think it's an excellent little addition. The masonry on the walls is another excellent touch. The story is great as well! I love the reference to Monty Python, and the continuing influence of the tulips. They're very.... tribbley...
  7. Reply: We'll have to wait till the next KPA for any specific arrangements, but I am glad to be able to deal with you. I look forwards to working with you soon....
  8. build by @evancelt To NPC nation of Carno!
  9. I think Ska's rules as intended were that each faction can have three and only three Chartered Trade companies. Under the COR page, it says: But to be honest? I'm actually not sure on this one. I've always assumed other factions just didn't include that snippet of text, but I can't be sure. I also vaguely remember some discussion early game about ESL only having one slot open at the start of the game, but I couldn't find a specific reference to it. Unfortunately, I can't answer this one.
  10. All of the quotations work as links to the old discussion. The difference between a Trade Company, and a Monopoly is listed here, in this post by Ayrlego, under the Notes section. For example, what I was told with the WTC (circa 2017) was that the faction approves for a Trade Charter. This allows for you to have an entity that is an EGS entity. THEN, with a significant amount of builds related to one good, you can petition the court for a monopoly on a product. For instance, the WTC does NOT have a monopoly. OOC because @Darnok and I never concentrated on a singular product, IC because we're generalists. We are chartered though. So, having a Trade Company is a prelude to having a monopoly, and you must apply for a monopoly on an in game product you do a series of builds around. Also, any Court members feel free to shut me up.
  11. Location: The University of Tiberia, Arlinsport, Tiberia Type: Royal Project Piece It was a pleasant day in Arlinsport at the University of Tiberia. Birds were chirping, and students pleasantly milled about beside the administrative office. When suddenly, the sounds a maddened horse and rider charged towards the building. "MOVE, NERDS!" yelled Countess Agnes Mesabi at the top of her lungs, as she charged her loyal steed, "Buttercup" into the main concourse. Students dived to the side as she fired her pistol into the air, and Buttercup reared aggressively. Countess Mesabi dismounted, and slapped Buttercup on the hindquarters. Buttercup raced towards the nearest body of students as Agnes walked towards the door of the Administrative building. Meanwhile, An adjunct professor watched in horror as students ran from Buttercups clomping hooves. Countess Mesabi arrived at the board of regents meeting a timely seven minutes late. She dropped a parcel of papers onto the table, and coughed loudly. "You're late" said the chair of the department of sciences. "And why was there screaming and gunshots outside?" "I come here to do business, and all you want to talk about is screaming nerds. I thought you were professionals!" said Agnes crankily. "Also, don't worry, it was a blank." "Countess Mesabi, we're a bit... alarmed by your entrance, but let's move past that. You're here on behalf of the WTC to help the university with budgetary matters?" "Yes of course," replied Agnes. "The WTC is willing to give a large endowment to the university, provided you name a building or two after me, and help us offload some WTC products that aren't flying off the shelves like they used to. I see it as a win win." "Meaning exactly what?" Asked another board member. "Well, we have excess Horse meat to get rid of, some of it cut with low quality Giraffe. That of course can be put in the cafeteria. Also, we want to be the exclusive arms dealer to the UoT." "We Will NOT have our students eating WTC horse slop!" Yelled a board member. Wordlessly, Agnes pointed to the endowment proposal on the table. The Board members looked at it, and glanced at each other. A collective sigh filled the room. "Which building do you want named after you?" Asked the chair. "Here Buttercup!" yelled Countess Mesabi, as she walked out of another successful meeting. Namere awaited once more. FIN Thanks for viewing my build! I've been wanting to get this royal project done for a while now, and this is a bit of a start on getting back to it. This build took a lot of work to get right, it went through quite a few design phases before I was satisfied. The entryway is the focal point of the build, and is based off of the entrance to The Golden Cat, from Dishonored. I ran out of a lot of bricks towards the end, which is why the top is rather plain, but I think it turned out alright. I really tried to improve on some specific things from my last build. The road is definitely more worn, and I think it looks good, although perhaps a tad modern. I also utilized the trick of putting plates behind the windows to darken them, as recommended by Ayrlego and Evancelt. I'm not sure how well it all comes across though, and I may need to re-photograph some of it. I'm hoping I can spark some interest in finishing the royal project. Though, the stories around this project might be a bit zany for other people's characters, and cause some people to not be interested. Either way, it's always fun to write for Agnes at her worst. C&C appreciated, per my usual list of sins: I'm sure some bricks aren't fully pushed down, this one used a lot of plates, and so it's kinda fragile. Fleshies inhabit the same world as yellow figs. You can see the blanket under my white background in one shot. I have the same table, and bookshelves prefabs as at least 10 other builds. I take my photographs with my phone camera, a sun lamp, and a super bright bulb.
  12. Congrats on getting together the resources to start a trade company! I really have enjoyed running mine, and I think that the mercantilistic nature of the age of sail is a bit under examined in BoBS, so I always like seeing the slots being used. I look forwards to seeing what you do going forwards. Let me know if you're ever interested in collaborating, the WTC loves a good trade war. Oh, and Ayrlego is unfortunately away from the game for a month or two, just fyi. Since I'm our resident part time non-court forum archivist/rules lawyer.... So, y'all should be able to have 2 more trade companies, since the RNTC is the only one you have currently. (as far as I can tell) The chartering is up to the faction leaders, per Ska's set up here. So you should be able to set one up just fine.
  13. @Bodi A letter has arrived for Berart Mazan: (Or whoever in game owns your ships.)
  14. She's a decent upgrade to the BBS Bodi, and she looks good. The ship definitely is a classic pirates vessel. Is that C3PO on the topsail there?
  15. Neat build Bodi! I like the blend of classic pirates, and the accurate shaping of the vessel. The plates as accents work great too. As for your bank account.... won't licensing more ships just put you deeper in the red? And cost more to run? And bankrupt you further?
  16. Fantastic build all around. The sheep are done amazingly, but I'm also impressed with the usage of the "Wand Cast" leftovers as trees. It's very creative. The use of slopes in the house is well done, and altogether the build looks great! Excellent job!
  17. Thanks Ayrlego, I appreciate it. I'm glad the writing came across well, I was a bit worried it was too brief. I thought that touching on Fatu Hiva was a good nod to my exploits, as well. The look I was going for with having their apartment over the top, was like a "classic immigrant overbusiness apartment." I think it turned out a bit blander than I hoped. And yeah, I could have done it in two builds, but I'd rather fit a good vision then split up ideas or overlicense. Excellent suggestion about the backdrop, and I will do that going forwards. I probably have been told that before, but good to have it in my head now. And good point about the roads being to clean, I think I'll try to do something a bit different with the next one's road. Thanks Evan! I tried to make each building look different, and I'm glad it turned out well. I like tying in all the links, I do enjoy hunting down the individual posts, and I'm glad that it helps get you youngins caught up. Excellent idea, but unfortunately, I don't have the bricks at the moment to really execute that. I seriously reduced the bricks I had on hand when I got back into BoBS (the rest are in a closet at my parents), and I mostly just have things that I deemed essential. I'll try a bit with my next build, but It's definitely a constraint for me currently. Thanks for the ideas and feedback! Thank you Thuam! Also, thanks for the nudge a few months back to do some building. Thank you Brickwolf! Thank you! Thanks! Fig posing is definitely an important aspect. It's a hill I think I'll die on. I like the expressions of both enough, that they end up together. Thanks Bregir! I'm glad the simpler techniques I used didn't subtract from the build at large. Part of the thinking was placing those off to the side, to help focus the scene on the Waymart. I'm glad the sepia photographs work well here. I was afraid they'd take attention from the build at whole, but they seem to be appreciated. I'm glad the Count fits in well still, even though I think I outrank quite a few of the Sea Rats when it comes to Anarchy. Yeah, it's weird to reflect on everything. It's been an interesting 5 years of playing for sure, even when factoring in my various sabbaticals from BoBS. I just think it's quite interesting to see my early stuff in comparison to my builds now. Thanks Everyone for the feedback! and thank you GOC reviewers for approving my entry.
  18. Market Street in New Haven
  19. Great parts usage, and your 3rd party figs look great here. Each scene has plenty of life, and I really hope to see some battle scenes with these minis soon!
  20. Nice microbuild! I really like your use of parts for the windows. It turned out very well. The story works decently too. Greaty job!
  21. Task 13-1 A New Haven Success Story - Market Street, New Haven.
  22. Location: New Haven Type: Small Residence (Per the Court's allowance!) GOC Task 13a It was a fine day in New Haven.... But first, some history... The Eslando - Mardierian War of 616 was devastating to the Mardian population of Isla de Medio. As the war came to a bitter close, Corrington landed troops as a refugee effort on the island.... Then Came Count Mesabi, who managed to make the situation worse, and looted the remains of Malto for all it was worth.... The Grey Family endured these hardships, and rejected the Corrish resettlement effort in New Haven. Instead, they moved to Fatu Hiva.... ....The primary target of Count Mesabi in the Second Terraversan War. In the pillaging of the settlement, the Grey's family livelihood once again was lost.... AND THUS, with few other options, they accepted the Corrish resettlement stipend, and moved to New Haven PRESENT DAY: Market Street bustled with activity in New Haven, as local merchants hawked their wares. The Local Waywart stood on this street, of course, selling 2nd tier WTC products for low prices. The Grey family was presently sitting down to dinner. Owen Grey muttered angrily as he finished sealing his envelope of various Corrish application forms. Soon, the Grey family would make their comeback.... FIN Thanks for viewing my build! I had fun with this one, though I admit I am totally reusing basic techniques from my other builds here. I think it still looks good though. Also, I would be metagaming the system a bit here, if I can license this as a residence. I need a residence or artisan for the GoC task, and this is clearly a commercial, so if I can get a thumbs up on making this a residence (People live here, technically!) I would appreciate it. For the GOC approval: @Ayrlego, @Captain Dee, @Bregir, @SilentWolf, @LM71Blackbird, @evancelt C&C appreciated, as always.
  23. Thank you! Thanks, I really appreciate it. I certainly enjoyed building this one, and I'm glad the texturing shows. Thank you!
  24. Nice mining claim Cap, the lighting effects are done quite well.
  25. Great job with the raised baseplate. They can be so effective for certain EGS types, especially forts. I really like the use of the unicorn tails, the 1x1 'X' bricks, the shield tiles, and the greebling of the wall of the fort. It looks quite well put together, and I really feel like it's an effective fort. I think my one tiny critique is that I would have liked a photo from a slightly side facing angle, so that we can see the sloping effect, a bit better. However, I'm not sure how much you built of the sides, so it might have been impossible to do properly. Either way, great build, and I'd be excited to see some Lottii shell it.
