DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion
BritishBrickFan replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'd like Killer Croc to be a bigfig, especially if he can be modelled (somewhat) on his Arkham games look, a minifig just looks a little weird for a character which is supposed to be massive and scary :) if he is a bigfig, I'd prefer there NOT to be a vehicle, and just have a playset type thing for him, similar to http://brickset.com/sets/70604-1/Tiger-Widow-Island making a vehicle for a bigfig is hard, look at the kind of thing Darkseid and Thanos have been given - basically a platform for them to stand on, without being an "actual" vehicle- 8,446 replies

yeah after I ordered the Tardis set on the day of release, I decided to go to the Lego store and pick this up in person, so I at least knew I had one on the day of release! and yeah..... there was a queue waiting for the shop to open on New Years Day!!! -

Review Review - 21304 LEGO IDEAS Doctor Who
BritishBrickFan replied to LuxorV's topic in LEGO Licensed
well, I've somehow managed to end up with 3 sets now!!! Lego wouldn't even let me cancel an order, they said I'll have to receive and then return it :( I am tempted to open another box, build just the Daleks/Weeping Angel and the Tardis, and leave the rest as spares or make the central console a little more detailed.... not sure yet!- 75 replies

I like the mod, shame it's not Lego, but unless you went via Bricklink (or bought a second set...) to get the dark flat pieces, you would never be able to make a SNOT roof

yeah I meant who printed them for you? I'd like to order the same :)

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

isn't that his platform, as opposed to stud shooters directly on his feet?? -
to be perfectly honest, the BBC's licencing model is more aimed at "NuWho" because they have more rights over the programme and characters than they did over the older series for example, the Daleks are not the trademark property of the BBC, they're actually "owned" by the estate of Terry Nation, but licenced out to the BBC on specific contract grounds (many rumours state that the BBC must use Daleks at least once per season of NuWho, otherwise they lose the rights!) but no-one with direct contact to the BBC's contracts will confirm or deny this rumour the BBC also has a bit of an issue with the older series of Doctor Who, dating back to the Hartnell years etc - most of the programming is not shown on BBC television now, BBC Worldwide have "sold" the broadcasting rights to other channels, so the BBC are reluctant to licence new products for older generation Who, because it's effectively licencing a product which is available via other broadcasters, which is why the NuWho merchandise is so heavy - they still show episodes from the revamped series on BBC3/BBC4 sometimes, so any Eccleston/Tennant/Smith merchandise is still "current" to them I'm not saying they won't consider a licence for a CMF line, but I doubt it would include older characters unless it was specifically tied to the Doctors themselves, and/or certain species which have returned like the Zygons or the Daleks/Cybermen because many Who characters were designed for a single story/episode, as opposed to being seen as a long-term character so some of our lesser-known "favourite" aliens have a limited shelf-life because they featured in one story only would children today, who really are the target market for Lego, really care about a Lego young Sarah Jane or a Lego William Hartnell? they would probably rather have a Judoon or a Sontaran figure instead, because most children will at least recognise those figures over older companions from the 60s/70s/80s and Doctors who aren't on "BBC" channels any more

I'm not suggesting anyone is lying, my question was quite simple - why do people think that videos are "required" at all? a lot of people have been recently asking in the Marvel thread for specific information related to sets which are confidential, everyone with access to that information has said that those sets are to be kept under wraps (presumably part of the NDA/licence agreement with Marvel is to avoid movie spoilers coming too soon?) yet the questions continue.... people can, and sometimes do (I've seen it happen to colleagues) lose their jobs over breaching confidentiality agreements, because they can lead to companies losing massive contracts and/or legal action as a result! so.... sometimes Lego need to keep the lid on certain things, purely to avoid breaking legally binding contracts signed with movie companies etc! how does this play into the videos? well, if they reveal something too soon, like they "accidentally" did with the Helicarrier being spotted in another video intro, then this may affect the sales for current Lego sets, if people know that there's no point buying stuff now, wait three months and buy them then when the new sets go on sale (presumably older sets will be reduced just before the new sets go to market) so Lego may lose out on sales revenue Lego have only been doing the designer videos for a few years, and there isn't one for every set - what happened to people having a little patience and waiting till the sets are released for sale, so you have a few surprises when you open the box and build them? or do we just have no patience any more? :( -

does there have to be a designer video? why not just wait for another 4-5 weeks and buy the set for yourselves? that's my plan :) -
Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

I think that we need to play fair with the people who have seen these sets, they've got access to confidential information which is not yet meant to be publicly available - constantly asking for information on classified sets puts people at risk of losing their access to this information, and potentially could end up with some losing their jobs if they are found to be breaching their own contractual terms over confidentiality both with Lego and any licencees such as Marvel/DC Comics etc for the people who have revealed what they can to date - thank you! you've managed to excite a lot of people, and we're grateful but please don't go beyond what you can (or should) reveal if it's going to affect your livelihoods -

I doubt the Joker is genuine, it's the "Heath Ledger" face, and that was unique to the UCS Tumbler if they're going to release another Joker figure, chances are they'll go with a similar look to the Arkham Asylum set or something, but I doubt they will use the same face as the "exclusive" figure, just to ensure that the UCS set is the only way for people who want that specific minifig- 8,446 replies

I would NEVER have had the idea to make a boat using the methods you've used, that is incredible work!!! on top of that, the entire scene is incredible! I SO WANT IT!!!! LOL

just to warn you all.... the BBC's view of Doctor Who merchandise is very much "NuWho" because that's where the money is, the children who watch the current series. the BBC would be very hard pressed to agree to release "older" Doctor Who sets on the grounds that those series cannot be viewed on BBC now, they're all being shown on Horror these days with that in mind, I seriously doubt that unless a major marketing strategy is released by Lego for a theme including heritage/anniversary sets featuring the older Doctors, I cannot see that happening I'm afraid at best, Lego are not going to release up to 5 "old" sets (including 2 Doctors each) and a further collection of sets including the current series characters, it would make the theme probably their second-largest licenced IP collection after Star Wars. it would be really nice if they did it, and I'm happy to be surprised, but I doubt the BBC would allow the trademarks to be used in such a way for the older series and characters

to be fair to Lego, the word "must" is a bit too heavy here - Lego doesn't "need" to release a D2C set at all, if they choose not to. it's not like their entire profit margins hinge on D2C sets, and they are usually the most expensive sets, so very unlikely to be targeted directly at Lego's core consumer base - children (sorry AFOLs!) if Lego choose not to announce any January D2C sets, it's hardly going to affect their profits, it will just upset a few AFOLs who have been waiting patiently since the last announcements after all.... if the next licenced/landmark D2C was actually Disney's Magical Kingdom castle, would many of "us" buy it?? probably not, I'm happy to wait to see what comes next, as it's not guaranteed that I'll even buy it unless I like the specific theme
