LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Not the best pictures but from what I can see it looks similar to the MOC's. Not as smooth but also not as fragile. About silver: They put some light and dark gun metal grey parts in the weird Naboo fighter - didn't work for me, did it work for anyone here? Better the wrong colour but at least one colour instead of a rainbow of grey tones. Technically the ship and Mando armor should be something between dark and light metal grey yeah but TLG just doesn't have the parts for chrome or silver ships of that size. -

music is insane. Watch the 3 hour documentary where they explain how important music was for them to begin with!on And how much work they put into it! Most 100 million dollar movies only ever do a half assed job with the soundtrack. Anyway I did like everything post S9 - after the shift in tone in s11 there were also improvements. I liked the inclusion of side characters! But overall the insane level of S8-9 is something not many cartoon shows manage to hit. And Ninjago didn't hit this mark anymore, though MoM and the ending of last season came close. I'm sorry this show will likely be forgotten in the not too distant future! Let's see what next year will bring. But after the downscales of the last years I don't hope for much. -

price increase in Europe
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to Kim-Kwang-Seok's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've just checked out some retailers out of curiosity. So the "better" retailers mostly have the updated UVP price, but the sets are now simply put on sale for the exact same price as before. Therefore the gap between UVP and the offered price has simply risen. Only in a few cases I saw the price on sale was between 2-5€ higher (I didn't look at any UCS style sets though). Some sets were even cheaper. An extreme example was the SW Cad Bane ship for 110-125€ - meaning 45-60€ on sale. Other retailers, that reduced their space for Lego sets within the last years significantly and mostly offer small sales or only UVP, indeed now show the higher prices. I would assume Lego sets and especially specific sets that don't run as well in Europe (as compared to the US) will disappear and limit the reach of the brand even further in retailers (online shopping is another story of course). Retailers that mainly sell other things like groceries but have lots of Lego simply because of their size will be fine anyway. I fear small toy shops will take the hardest blow in this (as they always have been in the last 15 years). -

But how do we know this? Maybe you are right - sounds reasonable. But isn't the root for this issues that we have ZERO transparency?. The only thing we can ever hope for, is some designers or employees giving us a piece of honest information in an random interview. Like when they said in context to an unrelated topic: "Oh we won't ever make SW Rebels sets again cause they ain't selling" - instead of stating this fact years before, when fans were expecting sets but never getting any (for good economical reasons it seems). With transparency you could shut up a lot of the IG troll-talk by just getting out some facts like: Hey, we'd like to get ya'll some Naboo capitol ships but prequels mostly don't sell while Landspeeders do. Press releases mostly are corporate BS. Like when they say blind bags will become blind boxes, because of environment. Not because they think we'll blindly buy way more CMF's. Ha ha ha.... Maybe the service was a pain in their antistud and this was a convenient way to get rid of it and. Without a modern way of communicating, we can only speculate. And nope, Lego is not outsourcing expensive PR-people by using the ambassador network. For some open questions you could hire like 3 employees, if you let them do their job. Other companies manage. This void Lego leaves (including the CMF controversy) - is boosting the aftermarket. But who knows if they even care. If you make all them profits and you have supply chain issues, staff shortage etc. - why even care? Then again, maybe this will hurt TLG in the long term or does already and the top dogs are too blind to see this. We don't know much and this debate is mostly trying to kill time until hopefully we have clarity or even improvement. R.I.P. B&P (for now) We may have been impatient with you. You were always late to the party and you were a mess. But when you arrived you made us all happy. -

Wow! I have to refrain looking at any ships to not get bad (time, money and space demanding) ideas but this one looks really great! Autistic as I am the clean-as-possible colour scheme is appreciated! -

I never understand the complaints (not saying you complained, I feel like you just mention the likely set cycle)? Lego doesn't produce them repeats for the AFOB minority buying every single version of em. Like any other producer they produce what sells. Therefore the 10 most iconic OT sets and around 2 PT sets are what we will get most of the time. I've read so many comments stating the last landspeeders and throne room sets were boring - I was even tempted at both sets as the designs were actually much better and more accurate. Always awesome that they put a good figure in a cheap set. Even greater, if they update the helmet or at least some of the prints. 10€ set would even be in my tight budget . My Post OT Boba is using the better original helmet/jetpack combo. Looks great but the original Boba would like his helmet back -

If I may ask; my last comment on this issue: Is it a sponsering issue or more dependent on a "only Lego" philosophy? If it's about the philosophy: the Forum is called "Eurobricks" and not "Eurolego". Would it be possible that - at one point - the forum could adapt/become more open? Again, I don't know how things are in the US? One of the most accepted, high quality alternative brands is Cobi - a polish company growing a lot at the moment. 100% produced in the EU but I know they are exporting to higher prices in the US as well; Jangbricks is reviewing Cobi sets from time to time. Again, it's 100% legal; in this case many recent parts of Lego were even inspired by older Cobi parts. In Germany, alternatives have been exploding for a while now. For sure there are other forums - but Eurobricks is simply the best and most professional forum about our brick based hobby. You guys and gals as admins are doing a fantastic job and the community here is great. If it's about economy I get it; debate is over for me. But if it's philosophy only - why not be a place for everyone? After all we only want to build great stuff and share it -
Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

Yesterday I watched a review of the new minifig scale Aston Martin. It's supposed to be a very small car while the Lego set proportions make it look like it's a huge SUV - towering any figure. I think the car looks as good as Lego can do. Probably amongst the best sets of this scale they were ever able to design. Lego physics are simply limited. Any train has only 4 studs wide interior and is 6 studs wide counting also the exterior. With thin window pieces you can push seats to one side but basically the "hallway" remaining is 1,5 studs thick and best case only a suggestion for figs to squeeze through. Same with exterior: All these details wouldn't be possible if you go standard minifigscale. So what do you want? You want almost the same train set of last time but with more figs, bigger train station, more tracks and 3 waggons? Or you want UCS style train with focus on the exterior but only one waggon (otherwise more money) as well as proportions which are off? Edit: Someone's gotta make a top 10 list of the most iconic ways Lego leaked super confidential sets themselves. I imagine for folks opening their expected castle box this must be the best leak ever. I wonder if Lego will require them to send back sets? -

Ok sorry I wasn't sure how the rules apply specifically. I thought we just shouldn't accidentally advertise the knockoff brands by namedropping them. As conversation was a lot about logistics, services, especially for parts and newer/specific parts I thought it would be on topic and not against any rules. Got it now. -

Yupe. Like so many things I'm sure the great creators, producers and designers are even more frustrated than us. But I would REALLY like to get some transparency WHY THE HECK this is always so uneconomical and randomly chaotic. If a Lego ambassador could ask and some informed TLG person would say: "There are issues with ressources, covid or schedules and therefore we need 2 months to finish animating or recording for the show". Most folks would understand. But instead it's like "maybe some kid drops clips on youtube of EVERY episode tomorrow. Maybe they don't even come out in October? Who knows!" You'd think there's people involved when some local TV channel is getting the episodes out. So why can't they just put them on Netflix in time and tell us before? Or drop an episode at some event. Anyone would be happier, TLG and Netflix would get more money . I feel like either no one knows what marketing is or the system is to complicated. The ideal time to show the rest of the show would have been like one month ago. In October the hype is gone and maybe we have leaks of the next wave already -

As I had a taste now of cheaper alternative services (again all 100% legal) I have to say I see no option going back to the inferior quality of most Lego pieces, sets and services. Figures with 360 degree printing, moving knees, ellbows, shoulders for 1€? Large variety of smooth plates and smooth plates for the underside? Take this and then go to a Lego store post-Covid with the employee telling you you can't modify pre built BAM figures and if I want one hair piece I have to buy the whole figure with plain legs and a random face. Nope. That being said Lego has great quality and improved in almost every way don't get me wrong. One thing I miss with other brands is that there is almost no diversity - like in the old days of Lego. So yeah some figs and parts would still intrigue me but I also have confidence that I wouldn't escalate as much anymore since I have eaten from a better table. -
LEGO Ninjago 2022

I think he's too obscure to be released in a magazine. Mostly we get random villains, random ninja, secondary suits and every now and then - if we're lucky - the main villain. And with this wave we have like 3 suits for every ninja as well as many villains. I would love to get Nya or Harumi as I don't buy sets anymore Btw - I only came here to check if the 2nd part of the show is out yet. Weird that they would drop it so late. Would you not want to hype the sets now from TLG's perspective?! -
The Tribute to The Razor Crest - Released!
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to Jerac's topic in LEGO Star Wars
due to limited money and space UCS was never an option for me but from "afar" I am very curious about TLG's take as well. If it's good I hope to see it in a Lego shop at one point. All the huge MOC's have used crazy techniques for almost any angle that Lego could and would never use due to stability and easy instructions. Very curious how they'll solve it -
Other than polybag size stuff I've quit Lego but I always loved BAM. Can anyone here give me an update how this is going in Europe? Due to work and research I was able to visit Lego shops around Europe and they all seemed to have prebuilt figures - never allowing me to change parts. They did advertise the online service but there aren't that that many parts online - compared to the old "build your figure in the store" - unfortunately. Do you folks know of any other way? I almost got some figures but felt a bit pranked that I would have to get three figures with each one part I'd like instead of getting one with all the parts - as we could before. Like most figures had plain legs. Why would I pay money to get even more plain legs? With BAM I used to get dual molded legs and printed arms as much as possible Also I wonder - am I alone here or doesn't this online service feel a bit overly complicated for buying 3 figures? I think before it was really customer friendly but in the several countries I've visitedn they didn't offer something like the old service anywhere.. Edit: some pictures of folks from the US have a crazy display of many figures. I've never seen more than like 7 on display! And those didn't have such interesting parts..

Yep. This thread was full of life and now it's kind of dead. So probably we aren't alone. I was doing MOC's/MODs on basis of B&P as well. If figs would be gone I'd understand but since the change I've checked 4 times and any (pretty standard) parts I've looked for weren't even shown or only available in a few colours. I feel like "OK you want me to have worse service, worse selection, higher prices, no figure parts, animals, accessories, no new parts and I should pay more"? Nope. Other (100% legal) brands offer cheaper parts packs and several interesting parts (like ball joints) in more colours. After my last B&P order in January I didn't get anything other than magazine gifts and 1 polybag. TLG sets without parts to modify them aren't worth it for my perfectionist taste. I do have a small hope TLG feels some pressure of having lost "us" MOC'ers and bringing back at least parts. But as others have corrected me here before - we are probably the minority and were more effort than profit for Lego. Or not enough profit. But yeah my wallet is happy. My partner is also much happier with no new sets or old never to be finished MOC/MOD projects taking what small space we have. Since May I got rid of about 90% of my sets. Refugees having lost their stuff due to Russian invasion are getting something small and I don't have to obsess how to buy parts for improvement now that I don't own many sets anymore. And I get Lego rather wants long term investment and in some years maybe they'll have a super efficient system for "bestseller parts" instead of serving a minority creating MOC's and building armies instead of buying sets. It's just not my thing anymore. Which is healthier anyway. -

How can it be that the planes have the same amount of parts as the last set? I am no Indy fan at all but I'd very much like to see Lego tackle WW2 planes without all the weird colours and airshow-tuning! But for this price point/parts count I don't think they could do a single good plane.. -

I have a small and insignifigant NGO in which we can easily print out complex statistics in a program (that we use for every service we provide for clients) within minutes. How could TLG not get similar numbers of "this number/percentage of costumers regularly buy pieces for let's say around 50 or 200€"? And: "How many of those costumers also used this chance to get other sets from the shop they maybe would not have purchsed as they could easily get almost any set cheaper in stores?" Even if we are blinded by how alive this thread was by comments about how many orders folks gave up. And if - due to crisis or independent of it - all this isn't worth the effort of individual orders. Even if - you could simply try to know part of your hardcore community and communicate this to them. Now maybe me and others are just impatient and unreasonable. Quite possible! But it's still not a clever strategy to not communicate with loyal costumers when and why what will happen. Maybe with CMF's in boxes will be the same. Say "hey it's for the environment. But yeah we don't wanna do codes or anything like that so good luck with guessing". -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Before knowing B&P I did sometimes get an extra set mostly for the parts. But only if it was cheap, on sale and had many other functions. I got a friends set for a hair piece to use for a Shingeki no Kyojin Mikasa figure. 15€ instead of 0,40 cent on B&P. But I also made a cool boat and submarine out of the rest and there was a bunch of other cool stuff. So I get Lego not putting figure pieces and rare parts into B&P. After discovering B&P I started taking all my favourite sets and making them as studless as possible - underside included. I could have never managed this just by buying some extra sets for parts. Maybe the required parts would have been included 4x in a set for 60€ but I needed like 45x for one MOD/MOC! My Razor Crest has like 2 exposed studs. I would have had to spend like 1500€ for sets to get the specific parts needed. In 2022 I only got one set as a present. When they are allowed to, designs by Lego are just top. But other brands are miles ahead in terms of matching colours, more realistic colours, smooth and curved parts. As it's the same system you can just take what you want from those brands - much cheaper. Lego sets are designed for kids: stability > interesting colours > functions > design. That's absolutely fine. But as I can't afford or store a single UCS style set, Lego has nothing to offer me that wouldn't need heavy modification. The limitations of the new B&P system instead of improvements took away any motivation to get new sets. Not that it's the only factor but I don't see myself getting anything other than CMF's (oh wait, blind boxes..). I think with a few new parts and devotion Lego designers could do a perfect small Snowspeeder. They are the best of the best. But it's not their job to make our model snowspeeder. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

I wonder if TLG's decisions limiting their own value. Hyperincreased prices (granted licence fees, higher quality compared to the inferior plastic used be4) and no option to guess what you get, might mean kids or adults alike will just pass anything they don't desperately want. Now if they bring out a SW CMF - I'm sure half this forum would even get whole boxes. But will they still get random bags of a "less exciting" series? Doesn't TLG make themselves completely dependent of other companies? And again the aftermarket, 3rd party sellers profit from the void Lego leaves them. In a store you can always say "ah well not sure if this is the right figure, let's just take some more and this fig I didn't want but whatever". Online, with higher prices on the aftermarket people might be more careful what to get. Add to this the worse reputation of Lego for retail. Maybe I'm wrong and "we" don't matter much with sales. But then again look at the disaster of vidyjo... -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Kim-Kwang-Seok replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's bringing us in X-ray vision googles/superpowers territory ;) Could work but weight scale would have to be damn accurate as figures can differ between a short and a long lightsaber bar. For bigger items - that were always easy to feel; like costume characters or any other big objects this method could really be used. I already see the forums giving weight guidances for CMF's instead of feel guidances Many times this kind of communities overestimate themselves but many times they/we make correct predictions. Like with Vidyjo. Some folks here will do what I'll do: not get CMF's anymore. Others will get individual CMF's online. Others will spend around 200 for the whole box. The point is you make an already quite lucrative 3rd party aftermarket even bigger. Toy stores and toy sections in any super markets lose. Legos reputation in shops would lose. Maybe not as strong in the US. But the rest of the world isn't so dependent on Lego nor is the company as strong in terms of Legal action to fend off it's growing competitors. Is this in Legos interest?
