  1. I agree. A $500 Hogwarts would still have to work as a stand-alone set. Without one of the most iconic parts of the castle it would look odd. They’ve already said in the press release that you can combine the Whomping Willow set with the Great Hall. I know that doesn’t specifically mean it connects via technic pins but it strongly implies it. Having the smaller sets as ‘modular’ play sets and the $500 set as a grand display piece would be ideal imo.
  2. It amazes me how many times I hear people say “why Harry Potter? There hasn’t been any movies for years”. You’ve only got to see the crowds at the WB Harry Potter studio tour and platform 9 and 3/4 at Kings Cross station or the sellout HP and the Cursed Child to know the popularity of HP has not waned. LEGO know this, and they also know that many kids who grew up with HP now have disposable income. The nostalgia value is huge on this one and I can’t wait to see what LEGO come up with.
  3. Exactly this ^.
  4. Has it been confirmed that we are getting a HP D2C set? I seem to recall the initial rumour was a “licenced” D2C set and it was thought to be HP by deduction. Is it possible the licenced D2C set is the Marvel Hulkbuster that was just leaked? Or is that in addition to a HP one?
  5. Pity the 2 x VIP points for Black VIP card holders is only on Star Wars purchases. I want that 60th anniversary set but there’s no Star Wars sets I’d pay full retail price for. Ironically, the only thing that would make this offer worthwhile is if the UCS Falcon became available during Feb.
  6. That is fantastic! Well done. My kids will go nuts over this when I show it to them.
  7. On that point I think poor sales was also partially due to timing of the release of sets. The Ghost was in the first wave of sets, well before the story/characters were fleshed out and it became interesting to fans. The Ghost was on clearance in my part of the world for a while. It’s only now that fans appreciate it (& the minifigs) which is why it now sells for well above rrp.
  8. “A posh card”...lol. Let’s hope it’s a bit more than that but, honestly, I doubt even the people who decide these things at TLG know what the offers will be yet. I’m guessing May 4th promotional period will be the main one. Or maybe when the Solo sets are released black VIP members will get ‘exclusive’ access to a post Han-modified Kessel Run Falcon.
  9. It’s been spotted on shelves at Myer Melbourne.
  10. I also got mine on the 14th Sept., am located in Aus, and still waiting for the black VIP card.
  11. Because this forum has been littered with false information in the past. Members generally trust specific sources. Trust me when I say I have no concern for what you say.
  12. Oh joy. Now you’ve created a profile just to comment here. Must have hit a nerve. Still not commenting on a source though I see?
  13. Click-bait. There’s a reason Gnajbricks parodies this and other similar channels. ‘Confirmed’ would imply it’s official. We would have heard it from other reliable sources (here and elsewhere) if that were the case.
  14. How reliable is the set list rumour? It seems odd that would choose to include Aragog again. The Great Hall could be “great” but I can’t see them including a ton of minifigs...which seems like a requirement for that set to work. I’m still hoping the D2C set is a large, highly detailed Hogwarts. There is an army of ‘now’ adult HP fans with money burning a hole in their pockets waiting for that to happen!
  15. I seem to recall there was a thread created a while back specifically for bitching about pricing to keep the rumour & discussion threads free of these types of discussion.
  16. Those ‘modular’ minifig poly bags are becoming such an eclectic mix...first R3, then Shoretrooper and now DJ. I wish there was some kind of theme to make them displayable together.
  17. I haven’t received mine (in Australia) either. I called customer service yesterday and was told I’m “on the list” and given the same info...end of Dec. If I haven’t received it by then call back. Apparently they are coming from Germany.
  18. I got one in the initial release and still no sign of the black VIP card, although I see many people are starting to receive them. I feel your pain on the Falcon though. The problem is that the demand is still so huge and scalpers would have snapped them up...again. You’ve only got to see the number for sale at extortionate prices on Evilbay. I expect to see a lot more too now with this wave. I like to think there’s not a whole lot LEGO can do about that and LEGO are doing all they can to supply their loyal fans. If I’m being cynical though, limiting supply creates further hype and fuels demand (*cough Apple *cough).
  19. In stock and available to order in Australia too. It’s a Christmas miracle!
  20. All of the new wave of Star Wars sets are available to order at a local e-tailer in Australia...at 20% off no less. They have pick up as an option too so I’m reasonably confident they are in stock.
  21. I don’t know about the UK but in Australia 20-50% off rrp in retail stores is ‘normal’ these days. The only time I shop at LEGO S@H is if it’s an exclusive I can’t buy in other stores or there is a special promotional gift that I want and my total order is above the $200 free shipping threshold.
  22. Great to hear
  23. So, it’s the last day of November and still no sign of the black VIP card. Yet another example of LEGO dropping the ball on the UCS Falcon release.
  24. There are so many potential variables with the straight up re-release of Taj Mahal that have already been covered in this thread. Only time will tell what effect it has. But there are already signs the 'market' is saturated anyway. Several big collector sets that have retired in recent years have not inflated, in fact, some have deflated. Pet shop is one that springs to mind. According to Bricklink the average sale price for a 'new' set in the past six months was $223 Australian dollars (n= 171 total bricklink sales). RRP for this set was $269 Australian dollars. If you have stockpiled those I would say that's a pretty bad investment.
  25. I like the colour of the sandspeeder and it's a bit out of left field. What's your opinion on the minifigs? The helmets look pretty cool from what I can tell.
