[PRESS RELEASE] 75192 - UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
Markalus replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Mine is showing as "In Warehouse" too It seems pointless ordering it now if it's already on backorder till October. May as well wait for bonus VIP points. -

The Lego S@H website has now fallen over. Right on cue. What a surprise. -
Hey Brickkyy13, Thanks for the heads up on VIP access time today!

Thanks Brikkyy13. Good to know. Although I wish they'd communicate that better in the first place...I'm somewhat bleary eyed this morning! -

The Lego S@H website still says "coming soon on Oct 1st" even when I'm logged in. Is that the same for everyone else? I would have thought it would say Sept. 14th when logged in as a VIP. And this might sound weird but I think a factor that might influence immediate sales is that it coincides with the new iPhone launch. They are roughly the same price, they are both targeted at adults and I can imagine the rationale for some is "I really want the Falcon, but I need a new phone". It could be a good thing for stock availability, for those concerned if they don't get one in the inevitable initial rush. -

Cool. I wish they'd stop saying "may the force build with you" though. It was cringeworthy in the designer video and seeing it in an offical text response confirms that some marketing person thought it would be a great idea...it's not. -
[PRESS RELEASE] 75192 - UCS Millennium Falcon 2017

In my previous experience with new releases at Lego S@H it's completely random. I doubt it would be 12AM, but it could be anywhere up to 9AM. I would think it's more likely around 8/9am i.e. to coincide with the UK Store midnight launch. I just hope the website doesn't fall over like it did when the Slave-1 was released. It could be a long night. -
There is another MF dedicated topic, the 'press release' one. As has been pointed out, what other SW sets are yet to be released or rumoured for 2017 and thus relevant to this topic?

Other than the privilege being one of the first to own it, the incentive for VIPs to purchase on the 14th is pretty low. Full RRP, no double or triple VIP points (which on this set is a big deal) and no special gift/exclusive minifig or polybag that I'm aware of. A "limited edition" VIP card with special offers for 2018 sounds pretty lame and only serves to encourage people to spend on products they might not ordinarily purchase. -
You have to do it. If for no other reason than strapping it in your passenger seat whilst exclaiming loudly "Chewie, get us out of here!" down Coventry St.

Interestingly, the limit per customer on the Lego S@H website is three. I would have thought for such a high profile/high value set the limit would be one, as has been the case in the past with highly sought after new releases (eg. UCS Slave-1 upon release). Limits may vary by region but I expect to see flippers trying to gouge desperate fans early on! -

Guys, mentioning the rogue plastic brick company is enough to get you sin-binned real quick. This is a Lego forum. It's also slightly annoying that we are discussing whether Lego stores will have stock of the MF in two different threads; this one and 2017 rumours. -
US stock is completely independent from UK or other regions so timezone would make zero difference. I would also hate to think of the cost to ship it from the UK to the US independently, not to mention relevant import duty/tax.
-
I agree but I don't think I can risk missing out.
-
Yes, at the Leicester Square store. I was there a couple of hours ago. It's a sight to behold!
-
I'm almost tempted to go down there just for the spectacle of watching people struggle down the escalator, with curious/envious shoppers wondering what the hell is in the box! I'm also curious as to how Brickshow can share the leaked UCS MF photos on their Facebook page but Jang gets threatened with legal action for posting reviews of TLG sets he legitimately purchased. Go figure...
-
It will come back in stock, I'm just betting the initial demand will far outstrip supply. I would argue in this particular case that 'kids' are not the targeted customer though. However, I'm sure there are plenty of wealthy parents willing to buy it for their <ahem> kids.
-
First few weeks? I suspect it will sell out within minutes regardless of the final price. The S@H website will likely fall over too. TLG know what they've got on their hands, thus, the teasers/pre-release marketing is unprecedented. Don't underestimate the buying power (& number) of adult nostalgic SW tragics and, sadly, resellers looking to make quick money selling to said SW tragics who miss out and are willing to pay a premium to secure a copy.

The round dish is arguably more iconic and has more appeal more to AFOLs, the target demographic. BB-8 in the vid was probably just to tease what a lot of fans have been hoping for...minifigs from both trilogies and an interchangeable dish.
-
I don't doubt the design is 100% legit but has anyone considered that Lepin may have already stolen the design and this is what we are seeing? The model looks incredible, but the surrounding artwork and typesetting strikes me as not worthy of Lego's flagship.
-
Nice! So I guess the whole asteroid field of Lego strongly suggests the rumour of ESB minifigs is correct as well as new minifigs to include BB-8.

I was responding to DrasticPlastic's comment, not Therealharbinger. But on the topic of official teasers, one of the golden rules of manufacturing hype is to draw out the suspense for as long as possible. Creating a pattern of expectation and then prolonging the suspense seems like 'marketing 101' to me. Yes. Search Brickcommander under members. No idea why. You'd have to ask mods that question.
