    Looks like a fun set, great minifigs and has captured all the iconic scenes. Unfortunately it doesn’t have enough display appeal for me personally but it’s exactly what I expected from the leaked info. If only it weren’t $500 Australian dollars! For comparison, Hogwarts Castle is over 6000 pieces and costs $650. SW fans are getting seriously gouged.

    Yeah, it’s possible. Just not likely imho. I think it’s more likely they would release a complete updated (& probably higher piece count) version of the original, which is such a great set. Having said that, I would never have imagined The LEGO Ninjago Movie spawning two huge modulars!

    When I initially suggested it looked microscale you disagreed and said it looked system/minifig scale. Personally I’d love them to release Diagon Alley as separate highly detailed modular buildings that they release each year. But I can’t see it happening. Whatever the outcome, I think the strategic placement of it in the Hogwarts designer video has had the desired effect; the online discussions would be invaluable market research for TLG.

    Nice pickup! It does look like a microscale Diagon Alley. The designer is a massive HP fan so it’s probably one of his MOCs. I’m sure the choice of background was very deliberate though and it’s interesting that it’s in a part of the video that he talks about “fans enjoying finding all the Easter eggs”. It wouldn’t be the first time they have put an Easter Egg for an unreleased set in a designer video.

    MODS warned about speculation regarding CC a couple of pages back when I asked the same question. To paraphrase; unless there was hard evidence of its existence (such as a leaked picture), I think the term used was "Or else".

    It definitely said “Pre-order this item today; it will be in by 1 Sep 2018" initially and then it changed it to “available now”. It’s wasn’t a sign-in thing.

    Let’s hope so. Pre-orders is a great step towards pre-empting demand. I still think they will be overwhelmed with orders though.

    If it’s anything like the UCS Millennium Falcon release (and I suspect it will be) then I doubt there will be stock available come Sept 1st. In my region they are allowing 2 per customer too, which is crazy!

    It looks incredible! I expect this will be the next UCS MF in terms of availability for a while once it goes live. It’s 1.45am in Australia and it’s not available yet. Sets usually release around 8-9am here.

    Limit of five bags...that’s a bit rough by Target! I haven’t heard of any limits where I’m from. In fact buying sealed boxes is very common here and then people just sell off the duplicates via FB groups.

    So can we expect official images of the next SW UCS set soon? Is it thought to be the early access set in the Sept. LEGO catalogue? It’s an expensive time to be a SW and Harry Potter fan!

    The MF is so iconic and the holy grail of most SW LEGO collectors. I think the demand was also driven by the exhorbitant secondary market prices of the original. TLG also seemed to grossly underestimate demand...$800 was really new waters for them. Short answer is no, I doubt they will have the same ‘problem’ as last year.

    Wow, this forum has turned into a CMF feel guide and hunt report. I was just glad to get the sets I wanted; Great Hall, Whomping Willow, Quidditch Match and Aragog’s Lair at amazing prices in AUS. And Hogwarts Express ordered from S@H.

    Apparently it was scheduled for a Toys R Us exclusive here, hence the delay for local retail. Some other smaller retail stores are also expecting stock in Nov. Best bet is S@H though.

    There is a lot of anecdotal evidence to suggest The Wizarding World will continue as a theme for 2019 and beyond. As others have said, HP fandom is experiencing a renaissance at the moment as ‘older’ fans now have disposable income to buy sets for their kids (and themselves). I haven’t seen this level of anticipation for a Lego theme before. The Great Hall was THE set eveyone was talking about at the New York toy fair in Feb when it was revealed. There are more pages of comments in this forum than the equivalent Star Wars EB forum. The D2C Hogwarts is being reported all over the internet, not just LEGO-centric sites. And it appears that the new sets have sold like hot cakes in the US and I expect the same will happen in Europe and other parts of the world come August 1st. I wouldn’t be suprised if Harry Potter ends up being the biggest seller for TLG in the second half of 2018. Just my 2c.

    I wouldn't get too excited for the 'value' at $400 USD. If you look at the scale in the pic with the founder minifigs its not actually that big. There are a ton of 1x1's in this build.

    I suspect it will be viewed as an iconic set in the years to come. And great value too, considering what you get for the price.

    The most interesting thing about the black VIP card offer email was the announcement of the lucky winner of the 1 of 1 18k gold R2-D2. The guy has posted an unboxing video. He’s made it public and judging from the deliberate walkthrough of his storage unit he has a massive collection of LEGO!

    I suggested (not very popularly) back on page 86 in March that Hogwarts D2C needed to be a stand-alone set and judging from the reaction to the microscale news it still doesn’t seem popular. Personally, I’d prefer a smaller than minifig scale Hogwarts if it’s fully fleshed out and accurate. There will be plenty other sets released over the coming years for minifig scale playsets.

    It’s white. For reference look at the LBG and DBG technic pieces at the top of the ‘wings’ or the white modified plates and LBG plates stacked on top of DBG technic beams on the middle inner part of wings.

    I kinda like the Hoth medical bay for the figs. Are the torso and legs for Leia identical to the UCS MF version?

    I received the email, finally. Nothing like leaving it till the last minute when the Y-wing could have potentially sold out already. I’ve heard the only difference for Black VIP card holders was no minimum spend is necessary to get the poster. Which is kinda pointless like you said.

    The entry into the draw to win the 14k white gold R2-D2 was for Black VIP card holders but it did not mention it anywhere in the email I received with the code for the Y-wing blueprint. Apparently entry is automatic. But I don’t know whether that means all black VIP card holders are in the draw or only those who purchase above x threshold at the LEGO store during the May the fourth promotional period. Probably the later. For one lucky person though the black VIP card will actually be worth something, and by something I mean a lot!

    I have not received the email. Black card VIP offers were suppose to include all black card holders. This deal just keeps worse!
