Great to finally see Zuckuss. I’m hoping it’s just the image is overexposed but the skin tone and metallic parts of the face mold look too bright to me. More muted tones would be more accurate. I also wish the tendril (breathing tubes?) extended beyond the actual mold and were not represented by paint on the torso. I get they probably didn’t do it because of fragility but I’d prefer it like Kit Fisto’s. It just looks a bit visually jarring imo.

Word on the street (via the Lego FB page) is that they will only be available in Australia via physical stores including Lego branded stores, Myer, DJ’s and speciality toy stores. Apparently they were in stock @ Lego Dreamworld today.

It wouldn’t surprise me. The price of the original is crazy and there are so many fakes out there; both reasons TLG has been re-releasing sets of late. It would be great fan service for the anniversary too (unless of course you own the original for ‘investment’).

I wouldn’t be complaining, have you seen how much they are already ‘worth’? Regardless of the packaging it’s low volume and thus highly collectable. In fact, I think the lack of graphics, simple instructions and individual numbered QC sticker on the back only adds to its charm.

I thought you were being a bit precious but having seen the image that is literally the cheapest looking polybag I’ve seen. It’s at odds with the super premium look/feel of the actual set.

I’d definitely go back for Slave-1. It’s either retired or retiring very soon. It’s great value for a UCS, scales perfectly with the Falcon and they look incredible together.

You have to scroll down to see the black VIP part with your unique code. Any SW purchase qualifies (I ordered a keyring) but I’ve heard others ordering non-SW sets and still qualifying. I can’t see this happening. It’s Dec 1 tomorrow and no news. It would make sense for it to coincide with the release of Darth Vader’s castle if it were true.

I don’t whether I’d call a few images “dramatic leaking”. Lego did crack down on leaks; it was so much more free-flowing before they effectively shut down the Discord and reddit leak discussions.

Clever marketing really. I bought a set I had no intention of getting - Winter village Fire Station - just to get the promotional set. I’m sure the 2018 HP sets will be one of the biggest sellers for TLG but I’d love to know the effect that HP promotional sets has on sales of other themes.

Not surprisingly, the Diagon Alley promotional set went to “out of stock free item” on the Australian Lego S@H within ~6 hours. No word on whether they will restocking but given the promo hasn’t begun in other parts of the world yet I suspect the local allocation is exhausted.

Apparently there are no plans for it to come to Australia. I just picked one up from a Singaporean based BL store. $45 AUD (30 USD) + $13 shipping. It arrived well packaged and mint, so I’m very happy. I figured the minimum spend to get it ‘free’ in store was like $40 anyway, and would have been higher here, if available.

The bittersweet irony that junior sets have no stickers when it’s mostly adults complaining about stickers.

Updated info I got from LEGO customer service is that pre-order for Darth Vader’s castle at S@H is only available for US and Europe, not Australia. The good news for Aussies is that it will still be available to purchase on Dec 1st from S@H and is expected to be available via regular LEGO retailers (i.e. not exclusive).

Brikky, Amazon.au became a proper store late 2017 with free shipping on orders over $49 so hopefully it will become available there. But, being an exclusive I doubt we will see any discounts any time soon so a better option would be S@H. At least there is VIP points and currently Han mud trooper poly. As you pointed out, things have improved significantly for us Aussies on S@H recently! I love the castle; it has everything I could ask for. Maybe updated royal guards would have increased the ‘value’ for collectors but I can’t see how they could improve the previous design. Actually, the Tie Advanced looks a bit rubbish at this scale; there is nothing but studs behind the cockpit window piece.

This was another victim of ‘scheduled Toys R Us exclusive’ here. The good news is that it’s apparently now being released to mass market retailers. The bad news is it’s curently only avail. at LEGO S@H on backorder.

If that microscale Diagon Alley turns out to be a promo/GWP then that is a pretty impressive set! If not, then meh. I still believe they will release a new full minifig scale Diagon Alley at some point. The previous one is gorgeous. I can only imagine what higher piece count, newer parts and newer ‘official’ building techniques will do! Also, the inclusion of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes would add so much life, colour and character to a new version.
