  1. Because they're all in the general area together right before Obi-Wan dies. It also lets you play out all the scenes from Episode IV with the Falcon.
  2. Desert Skiff - Perhaps a new Sail Barge on the horizon? Please, make it wider and PLEASE include a Skrilling and/or Weequay. Cloud Car - Last time they made this Cloud City wasn't far behind. Foreshadowing? Please give us Lobot and a CC pilot. Saesee Tiin’s Jedi Starfighter - Good for the Starfighter collectors. Felucian Fighter - Meh. The Old Republic Starfighter - Really? Ugh. AT-ST Endor - We still have those on the shelves! AT-ST pilots are rare, though. Jabba’s Palace - Needs Jabba, Bib, Rancor, and some rare aliens. Please don't throw in the whole gang. If you must pick a Leia, give us her Boushh disguise. Please don't design this set like Hoth Echo Base.
  3. It's called Ultimate Collector Series. There's nothing to disagree with, it's right in the title. It's not even a risk. Just by holding onto the box and manual and keeping the set away from direct sunlight and smoke, you will get at the very least your money back on any UCS set. The Falcon, more so. While it was a risk for the ones who hoarded, it was only slightly as they bought them during deals and history showed they'd get their money back in time. Just remember, hoarders did not prevent you from getting the set, just unfortunate timing on when it was released. It's hard to believe now, but the Falcon sales did eventually slow down to the point where it was time to clear the shelves for something else. You could make the same argument for 10188 Death Star, but at some point it needs to go and make room for a new large playset. I know how you feel, I missed out on the Falcon too. I have to eventually buy the Death Star II at a pricey markup. However, I'm glad to know Lego holds it's value so well and I could get most of my money back selling sets if I had to.
  4. It's a collector series. It's supposed to be hard to get. That is the point if the series. It is half enjoyment and half investment. I fail to see how the sellers are scalpers, they didn't buy up all the sets. There were plenty of UCS sets, anyone could have one if they wanted. If anything, you all should be thanking the sellers otherwise you would have zero chance of getting the set. The market determines the price, if there were more sellers, the price would be lower. Supply and demand.
  5. You don't see why alienating a group of customers is a problem? TLG is already rolling in money; they have no need to rerelease a UCS set. Besides, the fact that certain sets fetch such high prices increase the value of the Lego brand.
  6. Ah yes, the white tree, forgot about that. Wonder why they'd do that in the first place...
  7. The only thing misleading about this case is Vader flies a x1 Advanced, not a TIE Fighter.
  8. How often has that happened? The Summer wave didn't change at all, I don't believe the previous winter wave did either.
  9. Popular is not iconic. Will 'N Sync be as revered as The Beatles in 30 years? I highly doubt it. Digimon is laughable, although one could make a case for Pokemon. For something to be iconic it has to be revered both in its time and be enough of a game changer for people to reflect upon it, rather than just another thing in a sea of things. If we use the word iconic to define something that some people like and will remember personally, then the word has lost all meaning and debating it is pointless. By that standard everything is iconic.
  10. The OT was a cultural phenomenon. The PT/CW, like the EU before it, just feeds off the established characters, ships, weapons, and universe of the OT. It can't be iconic because it's not its own idea. I'm not taking the word iconic and throwing it around willy nilly. To be iconic is to be memorable and sacred, something that every generation will look back and say "that's where it all began". PT sets will sell because kids in general like SW, and they will want to buy SW things when they can afford them. But please, if we use the word iconic at this present time to describe the PT then we might as well just take a crap on the word.
  11. Iconic: It was in the OT. The OT movies are iconic, so naturally are all the ships and characters within them. The PT is...well, the PT. Some things might be memorable, and even laughable, but nothing is iconic in it.
  12. I don't see it happening either. How much would those parts cost? I don't think they could sell a minifig-scaled AT-AT at a remotely reasonable price...I think the walking AT-AT is TLG's unofficial UCS. I also think we'll get a motorized Sandcrawler in the future if they remake the set. He's already ruining the OT, now he's ruining the UCS line? Is there anything he won't mess with?
  13. It dropped to 25% off on S@H merely two months after its release. While TLG would never announce a set is selling horribly, that's a pretty telling sign. It's widely agreed that the set is a failure. There's a very small demographic that can both afford 100 dollar display sets and that looks at Episode II fondly. However, I know TLG will take more PT/CW shots as time goes on. The kids who like the new material are growing up and getting more expendable income, and there's a wealth of ships to make there, the OT is starting to run out.
  14. And it sold horribly, mostly because of its high price, but if it were an A-wing I guarantee it would have done better. I never said TLG doesn't take some shots with the PT, but each time they do is doesn't go well, just like when they try an EU set at System scale. If there's a good PT ship and and a good OT ship, TLG should and likely will choose the OT ship as it will likely make them more money. Now, they are running low on OT ships for the UCS line so it could be interesting if in the future they choose something like the Cloud Car over a popular PT/CW ship.
  15. He makes a good point. I only accept PT/CW because I have to, but it all feels rushed and made up. At least with most of the EU some effort was put into ship design.
  16. FBTB had 4 straight frontpage threads about it this year. It bordered on obsessive, and multiple people commented on how they took it too far. On Rocktopia, the Rock People hollowed out large rocks and built ships within them. The rocks floating through space looked like small bits off a meteor, until it was too late! There, I wrote a backstory. Backstories are worthless in a "anything goes" world like Star Wars. I like the M-wing, it's a nice little ship. You can't just make up a backstory and call it Star Wars, it doesn't work like that. I can make anything a vehicle in Star Wars if I want, it's incredibly easy. Fanon is what it is, not Star Wars.
  17. This has been discussed a thousand times. OT sets sell better than PT/CW sets in the UCS line. They are more valuable to collectors who's demographic appreciates the OT much more than the new stuff.
  18. While it's a horrible Echo Base, it's still Echo Base because someone at LucasArts approved it. However, if someone did a MOC of Echo Base, it would not be fanon, just someone's interpretation of a canon place. If someone picks up a rock and calls it a ship, it's their own awful fanon idea until it appears in CW at some point. Fanon vehicles can be great though, they just aren't SW because you're making it all up yourself. Canon is anything improved by LucasArts unless it's a "what if" story or material overwritten by a higher canon. The EU is canon, just a very low level of canon.
  19. And so can my rock from Rockia VII. Both fit right into SW. All I'm saying is while we can applaud a good MOC, we should not acknowledge it as an actual SW vehicle. That's how this topic began, a fanon MOC was suggested to someone who wanted to build a SW ship. Sure, it can fit into SW, but then again anything can. The only SW ships are the canon ones.
  20. Fanon vehicles are fine, I just don't consider them Star Wars. Given that SW exists in a galaxy where CW/EU introduce a new planet whenever they feel like it, pretty much anything could be something from SW. Referring to my front yard rock, I could pick it up and say it's a rock ship used in the city Rocktopia of Rockia VII. It is now just as much SW as the M-wing. The M-wing is a nicely built ship, but it's just a ship. Declaring it as something from SW is personal opinion only.
  21. The M-wing is not a Star Wars ship, just a random ship that FBTB has a unhealthy obsession with. It has as much to to do with Star Wars as a rock in my front yard. I agree with all the others though.
  22. A lot of people don't like the PT and/or Jake Lloyd.
  23. Yes, yes it is. Especially with his smug face they gave him, Obi-Wan was annoyed the entire time on Tatooine.
  24. You're preaching to the choir, just the fact that Tatooine is being associated with Episode 1 is incredibly disappointing. However, if they have to go that route, releasing all the pods would only increase sales. It's the only planet where having multiple figures isn't useful. I'd say the Landspeeder is the top Tatooine vehicle, but I guess that's all opinion. T-16 would be plenty memorable had they filmed the scene of Luke beating Fixer at Beggar's Canyon, but since they didn't I agree with you there. I am glad they made the T-16 though and picked it up even though it's quite outdated.
  25. Partially, the TIE Interceptor has nothing to do with the first Death Star. Seems like they just wanted more use out of their new Sebulba mold...I just wish the helmet wasn't part of the mold so I could use a random Dug in MOC's. What they should have dome is randomized the MINI and figure for each planet so that people would be enticed to buy multiple planet sets. As said before, once you have one Sebulba you don't need anymore. However, for the Tatooine planet, if they made MINI's of all the podracers and included all the pilots with some unique molds, you'd have a lot of people trying to collect them all.
