This is a major issue with me and most of TLC's recent and upcoming releases. The ARC-170, Landspeeder, Tri-droid, Slave 1, Turbo Tank are all release of which I own, in some cases several versions of. Even Wampa Attack has another Snowspeeder which seems an addition purely to bulk the set out. Furthermore there is not a great deal of difference in build between old and new and yet the prices for Star Wars LEGO are climbing at an alarming rate. That said there have been some great new sets like the Freeco Bike and Swamp Speeder (although a remake the Swamp Speeder is substantially better then the original and includes the lovely Barriss Offee ) which are both really nice, and generally there are some superb new minifigs throughout the sets. But I don't buy sets just for the minifigs - battle packs accepted - and with high and rising prices and a lack of originality I fear my future with Star Wars theme purchases is getting dark... I'm the happy owner owner of an original LuL Luminara but I'd be interested to see what a new version would be like - sans LuL. You never know, in the trend of new releases TLC might include her with the AT-AT...!

Jedi Duel - Introduction & Discussion
pedro replied to pedro's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Sorry for the delay in response - by now you'll have noticed that everyone begins at the their character's rank. You could try training your character in the Dueling Thread before your next tournament duel. Oh aye, Jim is very experienced at this. I'll just confirm what CallMePie has said and say: no, it's not to late to join Jedi Duel - it's an ongoing game that doesn't require sign-up. The exception to this is the Chosen One tournament which has already begun I'm afraid; and yes, anyone can make a character and join in whenever they want, all I ask is that you give them an original name, take a photo and create a Bio to let everyone know a little about their background. There are plenty of examples to look at. I hope you enjoy playing! -

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Originally this started off as a kind-of heavy STAP for a MagnaGuard and only had the front section. After I added the tail it started to become what it is now. It's funny how much a creation can change when you're just building with no real plan!

S T A G E ~ I The prophecy of the Chosen One... an ancient legend of unknown origin that foretells the coming of a powerful being who will restore balance to the Force. For those of the valiant Jedi Order the Chosen One is a champion who will arise to destroy the Sith, restoring the natural balance of the Force and finally freeing it from the tainting presence of the dark side. But for the evil Sith, wielders of the dark side, they would see this balance corrupted and destroyed. Through violence and death their own Chosen One would rise, purging all Jedi from the galaxy and casting the light into darkness. Now in this age of strife these two eternal enemies will clash once again. Many will fall... but finally one shall stand of who the prophecy has spoken. Finally there can be only one... ...The Chosen One! Jedi and Sith have heeded the call... 1. Eskallon - Eskallon (I**II) 2. Taran Crax - sok117 (I--) 3. Jim Butcher - Jim Butcher (I**II) 4. DarkFang - WhiteFang (I**II) 16. Trolius - The Master (I*--) 17. Ber'gin'yon Torg'h - Walter Kovacs (I**II) 18. Hans Olo - The Legonater (I--) Welcome to the first Chosen One Tournament! R U L E S Please DO NOT post in this thread unless you are a part of the tournament or staff, feel free to comment in the Introduction and Discussion thread instead. Full Jedi Duel rules apply. Adjudicators can anyone who agrees to do so or volunteers. All duels posted in this thread are considered tournament duels and the results counted as such. You are still free to play non-tournament duels in the Dueling Thread but these do not count towards your tournament standing. The tournament follows knockout format with each competitor drawn against another, progressing only when they have defeated their opponent best of 3 duels. This will allow each player more than one chance to win. When you lose 2 duels to your opponent in a single stage you are out of the tournament. When a player finds themselves in this position but before playing 3 duels, they can accept defeat or hopelessly attempt to save some face by playing their final duel - if their opponent agrees. Obviously this has the potential to backfire disasterously and technically they've still lost! Once they have won their stage a competitor continues to the next, facing a new opponent in each stage. The final confrontation pits the remaining 2 champions against each other and determines the winner of the tournament - The Chosen One! Each stage will have its own thread for ease of play and reference and these rules will be included wth each. Every duel from a single stage must be fought before progressing to the next. A reasonable amount of time must be given over to the completion of a stage, I will decide when the next stage officially begins. I'll update the tourmament table as the tournament progresses. In the case of any dispute, rule clarification or disqualifiction, my judgement is FINAL. Have fun! The tournament table above shows who has been drawn against each other. You can play your Stage I duels, best of 3, in this thread. Any questions, discussion or disputes about the rules and relating to the tournament should be posted in the Introduction & Discussion thread. P R I Z E S The Chosen One will not only gain acclaim throughout the galaxy, earning them the honour of adding ‘The Chosen One’ to their character profile, but they will also get to choose a prize from the following: Captain Rex minifig - MINT from my own collection with sealed accessories bag. One shown for illustrative purposes only. 8084 Snowtrooper Army Pack - MISB -OR- 8083 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack - MISB Fortunately for the valiant runner-up, they’ll receive whichever prize the Chosen One does not choose! S P I R I T ~ O F ~ T H E ~ G A M E In signing-up you have commited yourself to play, please make yourself available to play through all the duels you are required to for the duration of the tournament. In the event whereby someone fails to participate without good reason and can't be contatced, I'll find a replacement player - please don't force me to do this unecessarily! I’m expecting this to be kept clean and FUN! I keep a close eye on the character Bios and duels as do many of our fellows. Cheating should be reported. Anyone found cheating will be liable for instant disqualification. Again, my judgement - and that of the staff - is FINAL. The winner of the tournament is free to add the title 'The Chosen One' to their Character Databank profile and signature. They can insist that others address them as 'Monsiuer Chosen One', 'El Numero Uno Chosen One' or whatever they please until such time as there is another Chosen One Tournament, where I'll kindly ask them to relinquish there title so another may earn it. Don't worry, that'll be a while yet with plenty of time to bask in the glory! R E F E R E N C E Introduction and Discussion - Jedi Duel rules, Q&A. Character Databank - Post your Jedi and Sith characters here. Dueling Thread - Where the non-tournament duels take place. Jedi Duel Action & Ability Reference Table F I N A L L Y Many thanks again to Dragonator and staff for letting me host Jedi Duel and The Chosen One Tournament here on Eurobricks. Jedi Duel - The Chosen One Tournament sign-up
pedro replied to pedro's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Sory about the wee delay, I'll be posting the tournament dueling thread tomorrow night. Kaitan has withdrawn leaving us with an even 16 competitors. Once I've posted the new thread, we can begin in earnest! -
Hey, Here's my entry for the MOCathlon 2010 '100 Piece Challenge', the Double Trooper Aerial Platform or DTAP. Developed by the C.I.S. forces in response to the Republic's superior air power, the Double Trooper Aerial Platform is the larger cousin to the single trooper STAP, boasting more firepower, slightly heavier armour and due to having both pilot and gunner, better targetting. Two large rotating turbines give it the extra thrust necessary to give it a similar level of maneouvreability as it's smaller cousin. The DTAP is adept at hunting ground or air targets, hunting infantry with it's twin blaster cannons or elimintaing heavier targets with its turret mounted ion cannon. Powerful searchlights make the DTAP an optimal choice for night surface raids. The DTAP has a powerful searchlight for hunting foes at night-time. Powerful turbines keep the DTAP aloft and stable. The turret is variable configuration so can be rearmed as suite the mission. It's not uncommon for Commander Battle Droids to take the turret position so as to accompany an assault force into the battle zone. Once of my first trips into creating my own Star Wars vehicle, I had to shave off a few details to meet the category criteria but it hasn't really suffered too much for it I reckon. I'll probably add the other bits back on and make might make a varition or two of the turret. Thanks for looking, feel free to leave C&C!

Great builds! Your TIE Interceptor is very reminiscient of the LEGO version but I really like your Imperial Shuttle. If anything I'd say maybe the dorsal fin is a bit too shallow an angle on the front edge - 45 degrees where maybe is should be more like 60.
-
Great creation of the classic scene Lysander. I really like the funeral pyre and your use of battle-damaged Vader. Your bubble with the 3 force spirits at the end is really cute! Your photographs are nice, if anything I'd say it might be that bit better if you get a large sheet of white paper (A2 is good) and put in in behind your diorama so it's against a plain background. Good work!

Thanks for the kind remarks! I'll take some photos when I have a moment.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone! The hair piece is one of Arealight's amazing custom parts. Search on google and you'll find the shop no problem.

Thanks everyone! Here's a strip showing the switching of modules. I used two 8 x 16 tiles for my 16 x 16 modules to sit on. A close-up on the shapeshifter's home... ...with the saloon on the other side! I removed the front awning when taking the shots for the story. Thanks again for the great feedback.

Nice review metalandi, cheers! Wish I'd payed more attention to whent hat link was posted... I'm really looking forward to the new Castle line, love the look of these Dragon Knights - can't wait to have the new minifigs and accessories in my hands!
-
Another top notch review Big Cam! I bought almost all the Episode II sets the year they were released and of all of them bought this one last. Minifigs aside, this set was a no-hitter for me. Really disliked the speeder from the moment I got it, and the Yoda's flying device or what I thought was a cradle for the speeder is a waste of parts in my opinion. That said, at the time Dooku and Yoda - two superb minifigs - were exclusives, making it all the justification I needed to buy.
-
Great work Walter, your coverage of all things TIE knows no bounds! I haven't actually seen this version of the TIE before.... and I'd consider myself down with Star Wars! It's maybe not the most distinctive of the/your series, but it's a really nicely built, superbly detailed model.

Actually, in the novel the source of the apocalypse is never made clear. Some think natural disaster of the highest magnitude, some nuclear. Whatever caused it, the world is dead, all the animals and society as we know it are gone and so everything has fallen into disrepair and ruin. This building has gradully began to collapse in on itself piece by piece, while some parts of it remain intact.

This is my entry for MOCpage's MOCathon Real Vehicle category. The 15cm s.IG.33 Infantry gun or 15cm schwere Infanterie-Geschütz Model 33, was first introduced as early as 1933 and was the heaviest of the German infantry guns. The development of a hollow-charge anti-tank round plus a stick grenade for use against fortifications meant that the gun would continue to be used tight up until the end of World War II. I originally started toying with this MOC to feature in an Indiana Jones LEGO comic I was working on but never finished. The MOCathlon gave me the boost to change my original design dramatically and make a far more accurate representation of the real thing. A gun like this would be crewed by several men but I've just included one here for the purposes of scale. The front barrel can independantly pivot upwards up to 80 degrees (sorry, no photo). The bar at the back serves for quick redeployment... It's great fun trying to get detail into smaller builds like this. It's my first military MOC and I followed reference images closely. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out! C & C welcome.

Thanks for the comments! I had a rough idea of what the building should look like, but then built it in ruin. I had a couple of happy accidents where parts broke and I thought "Ah! That looks better!".

I wanted to create a Post-Apoc diorama, taking a detour from the usual post-apocalyptic themed deserts, salvaged battle cars and Max Max style trappings, basing my MOC instead on The Road by Cormac McCarthy. The Road is set in the near future where a cataclysm has destroyed civilisation and almost all life on Earth. It follows the journey of a father and son across a completely desolate landscape as they stive to head South, to survive, to "keep the fire burning" and hopefully find something worth living for in a dead world. My MOC is a snap-shot of time where their journey has taken them through a ruined town, passing the remnants of fallen society and happening across a macabre sight... Ashes continuously fall from the sky, muting the landscape to shades of grey. Father and Son on the road, bags and rucksacks holding all their worldly possessions. Much of humankind has resorted to cannibalism for survival. Nomadic groups hunt other survivors, butchering them where they stand and harvesting them for their meat. This poor soul has befallen this terrible fate, his bones char on an open fire... Cafe Corner for the doom generation! With no food those who don't resort to cannibalism risk starvation. Relics of the past litter the streets... Hope you like it. This is my Post-Apoc entry for this years MOCathlon. It's pretty bleak but then so is the subject matter! Thanks to M. Jasper for inpsiration on the shopping trolley design. Comments and criticism welcome as always.

I bought a lot of large plates for my Last Stand on Argoth diorama. Thanks Rufus! Cheers ADHO!
