[MOC] 1: 250 Mini UCS Rebel Transport GR-75 [LDD file]
icemann replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
heyhey I haven't posted in a while. But then I saw this somewhere on the internet and I knew I would surely find it in here and I did.. and this is truly beautiful! thank you for embarking on this project. the rebel transport is one of the most unique ships designed but sadly didn't get much air time. and I'm not sure if this is gonna make sense. I always think the scale at which ships are built in, has a certain relationship to the lego parts available. Big jumbo creations are cool but bigger doesn't always mean they are best. There is that special scale when the project just feels perfect, as in the build is at the ideal, optimum almost spiritual right scale with lego pieces. I'm not good at articulating this thought, but your creation is just that, not too small to lose details.. but not too big to be inefficient. this is super. thanks for making my day! =) keep on building! =) -

love the suggestion... in fact.. i m thinking most chaps who submit arent in it for the "payment" .... and i'm sure it would very well appreciated by the community to have these instructions collected into a book and made available... kinda cool gesture of acknowledgement to those who make the 10k cut, but not the commercial mark. =) -
i went. i saw. i love it

noted @MKJoshA. Thanks for the good tip and will keep a watchout on the way the replies are handled. Some updates here, with May 4th coming, I upgraded the base as I prep the droid to be shipped to Legoland Malaysia for a Star Wars celebration MOC showcase. With that, I also attach some images of how the "laser" attaches itself to the droid.- 31 replies

I Spy With My Little Eye , the one about the triangle in a square One of the biggest technical challenges faced, was the creation of 3 different "faces" within a circular framework made up of 4 quadrant corner pieces. In a nutshell, how do you fit a triangle in a square evenly? The solution is the skewing of each "Big Eye" off the main axis, such that they distract the viewer from the 4 inherent corners. . Each "face" is anchored by its own "big eye", and the following are some comparison photos of a "Sideshow model" with the Lego build. Big Eye Facade #1 Detail "A" had me tearing at my hair. Detail "D" was almost a perfect fit for size and scale. Working on the project to try to light up Details "C" & "D". To be updated if successful. Big Eye Facade #2 Big Eye Facade #3 Rather disappointed that I couldnt achieve the tapering feel of detail "K". Compromised with the use of a gear wheel to minimally get the ribbed texture of the eye rim. The reverse stud feel is a strategy used to capture the rivet marks evident in the Droid metal body. Could be seen in the detail next to "K" . thanks for reading! =)- 31 replies

hey there baller express!! actually.. when i started out.. i didnt set a piece count limit.. but simply tried to cap[ture the droid as best as possible.. only after that i realised , yeah, the piece count actually is very ideal for a Lego Ideas submission.. since the count number means LEgo bears less risk if they were to implement this... and yes, hooray for all.. it translates to a more affordable set.. less is more! =) and a huge thanks for the encouragement! =)- 31 replies
