Talking Skull Promotion - WINNERS, your address please
Tazmaniac replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
you were close but needed to listen to the skull.... but that prize has gone. but had my new favorite occupation title! can we tell people how we found our passwords? or is that a bit un-pirate like -
"The Lanterne Rouge" your Charcacter is by far the most original and what a beautifully constructed body best of luck in the comp!! might want to check your "over-hang" with those leaves it would be a shame not to have this masterpiece valid for voting over a bit of greenery.

My advice would be (and take what you will from this as I'm pretty new to all Mocing) HEADS! try every one you've got on until one says "hello" then yoy'll be sorted. I feel the face can make or break a character and with all the heads to choose from these days there's infinite possibilities.

PRIZE#12 - Cartoonist

By my count you must have about twenty or so bricks left, try to squeeze in some more detail maybe? apart from that I can't say much it looks great, very middle eastern. As far as your photo it looks a little grainy , I know flashes can be bad on lego but if you flood it with natural light and then use the flash it seems to help alot.

is that a wand in your pocket ? or.....

Your creation is great with a detailed back story expaining every thing from his choice of clothing to the reason for the two tone floor But even with these explanations I'm still not getting the wizard vibe from your minifig... but that's just me. best of luck in the comp ps @ Hinckley does my top hat count as overhang ? it's not fixed to the Vig but to the MiniFig so if it's in question I'll move him and re-shoot the entry...cheers
-
yeah It is I was about to give her the heads up on that one, but you beat me to it ..... now to fix my entry. ok updated again, my only concern now is my MiniFig's hat just pokes out slightly from the 8x8 cut-off but as it is not part of the Vig I thought I'd get away with it...... I will again hassle Hinckley to ok it for me ...Cheers Great to see some more entries up , should I elaborate on my character?

I've updated it but I'm sure it would have been fine as HEALTHY was awarded and was not in capitals when skully said it, but cheers for the heads up. -

Cheers "Geertos13" It's still a wip, but meets the max part count so now the tricky task of swaping out parts to add detail. with a 10 piece count on the Fig alone I've only 90 bricks to work with ( never had to build to a buget before ). As for a back story I could give you pages and if the comp was scored on concept I would indulge you but I think it will come down to the best Vig/Fig with the best photo. "geertos13" you photo is awesome the angle and lighting are great but I feel you need a bit more feeling to the subject, even just posing your wizard a bit, rather than looking as though he just got slapped with a wet fish (it may be just the head that makes me think that).Great back story!! I hope your links are ok for the comp as they add some real depth to you character, but also leans toward the "Two Vig" question which is not allowed. Thanks "Hinckley" for this comp! updated entry do my lamps count as over hang? they are 75% with in the base, but you said "NO" over hang so I'm checking. Cheers

I know it's been said but I have to second the Asterix theme I'd like to see Peter pan theme, New pirate ship and crew, island sets, Indian camp and lost boy MiniFigs.Maybe in classic Disney style (bear suits, racoon skin hats ect)lots of little legs to be had and plenty of scope for sets. Not something we're likely to see but I think thats the point of this thread.

is the whole vig judged or just the MiniFig ?

you might want to read the first post regarding point giving, if you want your vote to count. -
Do only bigshots make the front page?
Tazmaniac replied to Gregorovich's topic in Forum Information and Help
I think this question has been pretty much answered, but just for example I'm a new member and although I've not made the front page of EB the good lads have blogged my MOCs on Classic-Pirates front page several times ( cheers again guys it's an honor). remember to keep in mind that the staff here have alot of stuff to check out and blogging something takes time. -
looks great Admiral as far as some thing more user friendly for your coat I'd try PVC still thin but much more sturdy and a gloss finish if you so desire. top work on the bicorne I know how hard that stuff is to get a smooth finish, nail polish is a good medium to use as it goes on even and covers most small imperfections. You said it's (the hat) a bit big, well it looks pretty dam good to me, how does it compair to the LEGO ones? again nice work!!
-
ah the memories come flooding back.....great collection with plenty of action going on. You said you can't make MOCs.....yet! my advice is TINKER play with your spare bricks see what comes out, even God had to start somewhere just look at the platypus not his finest work but he kept at it and soon was creating cool stuff like tigers, spider monkeys and seahorses. Welcome to EB and enjoy
-
@ Aalak , yep the board is from HP Hogworts first release.... or 2nd, I have both but can't remember which one it's from. @ Admiral Croissant , Yes it was due to lack of bricks.... the story of my life, but I'm trying to fix that thanks to BL. @ Dreamweb, Cheers for the blogging, got me while I was posting this. Cheers to all that commented It really helps motivate me to do more. still have quite a way to go as far as my MOCing is concerned but I've only been at it for a few months now and I'm really starting to like what I'm producing. Maybe (here's wishing) in a few years I'll be up there with Derfel Cardarn,( my favorite builder ) and the likes.

cheers tiger and as for the bow tie they've been around since the 17th century

The place to pay if you want to stay........ or it's the prison for you and your crew. feed back welcome

I think what's there is great, but there seems to be alot of empty space for such a large office perhaps a bookshelf and a chest of drawers would help fill the space and give a more "lived in " feel. at the momment it looks as though he's still moving in or partialy moved out, maybe a door way behind the soldier would help close up the space and give a more complete look to the room. but as I said what's there looks great
-
cheers, yeah my SW collection is pretty limited Hence the odd figs on endor.

looks good, maybe try to adjust the sails/ and yard arms a bit the main sail (bottom) should be the biggest and they get smaller as you go up the mast, not a biggy but will look heaps better IMO. your first ship?
-
welcome to EB classic pirate first of all, and I hope you enjoy the fun to be had here! you ship is big but looks a little square (it may just be the photos). A picture of the stern would be nice and help show it's true shape. and the masts look a little crowded to me. those comments aside a great way to introduce your self. Again welcome aboard and have fun!! At least it will be easy to hit out at sea.
