  1. Well Schneeds, that might have been before I completely redesigned the legs of my more MF-scaled walker—now they are impressively sturdy; especially the ankles. Though I am indeed fond of smaller version for several reasons of its scale…
  2. Well, here are a couple of references from the movie (it is not as vivid as sand blue but it can be faintly seen on the third rectangle) And here is a reference from a replica (its appearance more of in a newer state) of that studio model that AT-AT MOCers tend to frequent: As far as I am concern the pale blue stripe is from a studio model, so that is a solid point that it would/could exist
  3. I guess I should left it outside all the while after all Well I can always make two more AT-ATs to display the other variants all at once
  4. Indeed it does atlas, like that of an actual AT-AT (though minus being actually connected)—thank you!
  5. Early on I actually thought about having the primary color light grey and only that panel LBG, but since several of the parts are rather modern, doing that was not ideal. I also did swapping out the sand blue with light grey. Does it help to say that those will be the only ones I would paint and nothing more?
  6. Though I would think it will be far from random as in a weathered down look, since all of them will be completely the same color (I don't think I could live with that much differentiating color not matching properly with the primary color). I got the sand blue stripe from the studio model on modelersmagic, because it is something haven't seen anyone do, yet it is too vibrant compared to the source. I did want to attempt to wash out the color by leaving it in the sun and the outside conditions, but I was too impatient . Nevertheless, I purpose to make right side of the AT-AT completely LBG, and as for the left side, the sand blue stripe can be interchange.
  7. Thanks dmaclego! It sure will relieve probable issues with the leg splintering from the ankle when assembling, and now I am endeavoring to implement the same structure through the shoulders (while still having that nice taper like what you have going for yours ;). I appreciate that you have accepted my decision to paint those parts, but I assure that those will be the only parts. Though unless I run into the incidence where it does come in LBG or LG, yet is ultra rare (no one would no the difference ).
  8. Unfortunately, the biggest constraint with staying within the perimeters of this scale in minifigure scale is the size of some individual elements. Likewise this was an issue for me when first designing my AT-ST; trying to get the details and angles as accurate, it started to evolving into UCS scale. So I saved that for another project in the future and started from scratch to build an AT-ST close to minifigure scale…
  9. Ever since I redesigned the legs to be studless and sturdier (so that it requires NO GLUE), I have been irked that leg portion is only connected to the ankle part (what connects to the arch) by 8 studs, since the is upside down, which requires the "Studpits" (as I will now call them) to be on both sides in order for the leg to connect to the ankle in the fashion the studs are directed in… Unfortunately, that is all I had to work with; 8 studs, and for something would be quite weighty, I believe it could splinter quite easily. Additionally, I could not have secured the connection by using hinge plates to connect to the sides of the double convex slope (3685) to the sides of the lower leg, because it was basically not possible. So, this dilemma compelled me to search without question for a new design, where that the ankle and leg will be one whole component, rather than sectioned into two parts. Promptly, the piece to use alternatively of the came into perspective. I will be implementing the element. Socially, I am not concerned with spray painting them to light gray, because it is not degrading as is gluing some parts together for whatever reasons. Though I would appreciate some recommendations of which brand I should look towards investing in. Now that all the studs are directed upside down, the leg can revolve around the arch much more smoothly than before, as I have tested with physical bricks… Then since it is all one component, it will surely make assembling and disassembling easier and enjoyable when I eventually attend particular events, because the components are in fewer modules.
  10. Hey, maybe it will catch on and become official, but I would be just as fine if I turn out being the only using it—thanks Ah yes, that is the one I heard probably once a while back.
  11. Well if there is a term already for this, I presume it's not used so often (because I sure don't know it ). Then, real recently, actually right before opening this topic , I came up with a neologism for a Lego term that will define the underside of plates in one word (which originated from something that had to do with armpits )… So, let's call it "Studpits:" the indentation where studs interlock to. Better since as a result of this new term "Studpits," we can have new acronyms like SNOB ("Studpits" Not On Bottom) So how 'bout it—catchy enough? Or, alternatively, they can be called "Studpots"—tell me which one you think is best, or even share your own.
  12. That is great to hear! It feels good being important, because of the things you contribute are received tremendously well. After seeing dmaclego's AT-AT I was motivated to completely discard the original design (like trash) for the legs of my walker and scratch-build a new design that is sturdier and studless than before. Thinking back, I can't believe why I would ever settle for something so fragile and studdy, but I guess that was before my excessively heavy emphasis on using bracket elements!
  13. What! You don't like minions mistaking the queen for a cockroach? I thought that was most hilarious Though at times you can get lost or frustrated wondering what the minions are saying when the narrator is not around. I didn't like TFA so much for a number of reasons: uninteresting characters (*cough* Phasma being one), particular moments that had the potential for action scenes, and that cliffhanger I sat through wishing "please don't end this way, it can't be all they're giving us now after waiting so long," etc. Someones' new year's resolution for 2016
  14. Actually, I used the soft spring variant, which hardly has any resistance, though the springs can be easily removed for such reasons.
  15. Your referring to the shock absorbers correct? If so, those elements conveniently handle those odd incidents when you discover that the length of your standard Technic liftarms (specifically 5 & 6 lengths) cannot connect to pins without forcibly manipulating them.
  16. @ krisandkris12 Here is a tidbit of my expertise for designing the head, these elements were paramount to design a solid structure and get those complicated angles:
  17. Yeah the direction that it is in now allows me to get them as close as one plate apart. The height perspectives would be respective to the stance of the AT-ST or AT-AT, or visa versa to find where they are on scale with each other (my AT-ST is in a semi squat position). The only difficulty with fathoming the size of the two walkers as compared to themselves is the lack reference when they were in close proximity with each other. Most noticeably, the only occurrence is in ESB. However, as I suggested recently, the Battlefront game can be useful tool for referencing the scale of vehicles compared to others and humans, since they are all designed from studio models. That is something definitely to consider, since at the moment the front and rear panels are connected to the middle by hinge plates and brackets. Looking at this image bellow. I believe it will enhance the perspective of the walker from front on or from rearward. I believe La Chupacabra is referring to this technique done by fuppylodders on his AT-AT below:
  18. Thanks fellows. Yes, I am now becoming aware of the concern too, but I will continue to find… something… I don't know quite what at the moment… Though whatever it is, it will still be impressive nonetheless… The scene from TFA on Jakku with Rey at her @@ shack can be useful reference for the general size of an AT-AT compared to a human (though that would depend on how they scaled the walker). Another reference would be the game Battlefront, since I heard the OT vehicles in there were scanned directly from studio models.
  19. It has been a while since I posted updates on my progress. I wanted to completely finish the new design of the legs, but I guess any progress is worth to be shown. So, lately I have been redesigning the design of the legs completely from scratch. Most significantly, a reinforced structure has been introduced tremendously by the use of brackets. Additionally, less studs are present on the legs, which brings more fineness to the subtle details, and results in a better representation. Accurate to the source material, the dishes (or according to the cross section guide "Service access covers") are closer to edges by the use of pneumatic T-bars. However the old style of this element may be required because the bulge of the new style merges into the double convex slope in the program. Here is some up close perspectives on the details of the leg: Leg bent at at generous 45º angle: Here you can see that with the larger feet the legs are proportioned better unlike with the smaller ones (which its toes were too small and the longer ones now would make it look weird). And lastly a size comparison with a special guest (my WIP MF-Scale AT-ST walker):
  20. ^ I have been thinking about it recently since I am in the mode of redesigning some parts, so we will see.
  21. Generally like this, but I will have to check if I can do this for each slot:
  22. I see what you both mean. However I thought about using these as another alternative: to cover up the open 1 x 1 plate space from behind.
  23. Wow, fantastic representation at such a small scale. Looking back at your walker, it may not be too out of scale within reference to its feet.
  24. *I replace the file of the original footpad design with one that includes the arch and cylinder (which those two components are based on krisandkris12's design)*
