  1. USA Only (Maybe Canada Too?) - Target I found in the Target weekly ad (Nov 27-Dec 4) that certain sets are on sale: LEGO King’s Castle set $69.99 LEGO Toy Story 3 Western Train set $69.99 Fee Shipping Too! (Ahh I just bought King's Castle last week at full price to do BOGO half off along with prison tower at TRU. This is a better deal!)
  2. That's cool. However, anyone thinking of bidding should look at the posts carefully. I see him claim on the one that I looked at that the instructions and box were missing, but from the photos, he's clearly missing some bricks too; I saw a minifig missing a helmet and also some other bricks too.
  3. I make a motion to sort the index by set number, but only within their theme (like they're already grouped up). I also fell victim on my first contribution to this thread and made a duplicate set that someone already made because I didn't think to do a command-F and search for the set number in the first post, not realizing that things weren't sorted like I thought they were. Or perhaps they're sorted by date to make it easier on Calabar when updating the original post?
  4. That was quick. She got back and says she's sure. Also said another BL person had it at one point. It's a promotional set and there's a coupon on the back for free child entry to Legoland. So maybe it was only sold in Southern California? I live in Northern California, but I've not seen either of the polybag promos for Kingdoms. It's strange that nobody has posted about this set. Must be pretty rare.
  5. This BL store says he has a few of the target practice set in stock. But he seems to be the only one on BL with it, so that's kind of suspicious. On the other hand, he has very high praise/reputation, only 6 complaints and something like 1800 praises. Maybe he accidentally typed 30062 instead of 30061 when making his inventory? If he actually had this set you'd think he would mark it up 1000 percent or something since nobody else has it. Edit: I sent him a Bricklink PM/message asking about it and if it's a mistake. I'll respond back if he/she answers me.
  6. Oh yeah definitely. I was referring to sub-forums for countries/regions like we had on a car forum I go to sometimes. It would make it so you would have discussions in just your local area, like for local events and stuff. Or maybe things like which stores have what. But I can't fully say I would want it, because it may lead to some things being hidden away, like awareness about promos that only happen in one country/continent.
  7. Tried to PM you, but I guess that won't work until you have more posts. I'm in San Jose and I've had a PM or two with another local, Cara. He/she went to 3 different TRUs in the area and found some. I have yet to go, myself. I wish we had regional forums for things like this, but then again it would be a pain since this site covers most of the world.
  8. And last but not least, my final update: LINK: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41226&view=findpost&p=838259 "6239 Cannon Battle" This was the first one I ever did, so almost everything was wrong. I changed a lot of colors mainly. I also stacked the wall (has no studs in one part) now that I know how to stack and then swap out a brick with a SNOT piece. One interesting thing I ran into is that color 297 Warm Gold doesn't seem to be in LDD 4.0. Has anyone else ran into that? I ended up using 127 Gold instead.
  9. And here's another one updated: LINK: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41226&view=findpost&p=852689 "6071 Forestman's Crossing" - I updated the colors to be proper, and the image is now a properly sized jpeg image.
  10. I've updated] my "6066 Camouflaged Outpost". LINK: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41226&view=findpost&p=858752 The image size has been reduced to be under the maximum 512x512px size. All brick color issues should be corrected now. (I am now educated on how to translate color names between bricklink and LDD/Lego.) I've also simplified some of the error notes in my original post: I no longer point out which pieces are available in LU mode, since I think that's kind of unnecessary considering half the parts aren't available for purchasing anyway. This can be considered as updated to LDD 4.0 as well. Special thanks to Aanchir and Calabar for being patient and schooling me on this stuff. I have a couple other sets to update as well...
  11. I was behind the ball on getting this set, and it seems like it's sold out now. They don't have an option to buy on S@H (you can only wishlist it), and I called my local Lego store and they're all sold out. The cheapest I can find online is about ten dollars over MSRP and that's before shipping costs. Does anyone have any tips for me? Also, if I can't/won't buy this for this year's Christmas, do you think the price will drop on this set in, say January or February? (Since the holiday season will have been over by then.)
  12. Basically I limit myself to one or two themes, depending on how you count. I just recently exited my dark ages (3 months ago). I've decided to limit myself to basically just one theme (Kingdoms) and the collectible minifigures. I was originally planning to get the Pirates line, but when I learned they weren't continuing it really and that they're at the end of their shelf life (imminent rise in prices and availability), I decided not to. So Kingdoms is the other theme from my childhood that appeals to me. And the collectible minifigures are just too charming to pass up. I think I would love to get another theme, but it's just a financial issue right now; household bills etc...have to draw a line in the sand. If I were to buy other themed sets, I would do Atlantis or Space Police. I was pretty big on Star Wars growing up, but... man there is so much Star Wars stuff I wouldn't be able to get it all. I'm kind of the type where I don't want to miss a set in a theme, I kind of have to get them all. I might collect Pirates of the Caribbean next year if I like what I see. Why not add a poll to this topic? I'd be interested to see the results.
  13. Ah thanks. I guess the two important columns are BLName and LEGOName. This will help me so much. And I have been using Universe mode. I just wanted to document all cases of unpurchasable bricks and why, but I'm thinking I'll just stop that and focus on making the model as true to original as possible. Ah I looked but didn't see it in the index. Oh well. I'll go back and correct the 3 models I've done so far to have proper colors. That'll happen week after next due to holiday events. Thanks for your patience everyone.
  14. I just got 7946 King's Castle and 7947 Prison Tower Rescue for $120 including tax at TRU with my BOGO50% coupon. I also got a free play mat which I'll pass along to my godchildren for Christmas. But what a deal! Normal cost would be $165 with tax.
  15. The color names on Bricklink don't match the color names in LDD, so I just kind of eyeball it. I had no idea what color the old gray would be, so I used the default light gray on the main color chart in LDD. And there are so many browns, I don't know which is which. How do you determine which colors to use when you make a set? As for the goblets, I couldn't find the exact part number in LDD, so I used a different part number, and yellow didn't exist as a valid color for that replacement, so I just left it as its gold color. With things like that, I'm not sure if we're shooting to keep it close to the original set, or leaning more towards trying to make the set buyable. I guess now that I think about it, it's kind of pointless to make it buyable since there are so many errors anyway. Any advice you want to give would be great. I'm more than happy to make another pass and correct some of these issues. (I'll be busy until week after next, however.) I'm just a little confused on the whole color thing in general. P.S. My 6071 Forestmens Crossing will have similar color issues, and I'll make sure to fix it also once it's clear to me how to determine which colors to use.
  16. You're in for a treat then, because in DS9 there's an episode where they time travel into the Trouble With Tribbles episode. I can't remember which season, but I don't think it's the first. Time for you to watch DS9!
  17. 6066 - Camouflaged Outpost LXF File ERRORS Hopelessly Wrong / Miscellaneous: -"Extra pieces" shown on Bricklink inventory not included -All minifigures are approximations (lacking prints, colors, proper accessories, etc) -Minifigure feathers are set off to the (front) side; they don't fit in the substitute hat accessories -4444 "WALL ELEMENT W. WINDOW 1x5x6" lacks printing Replacements (original part # not found even in Universe mode): -4213 "Light Gray Hinge Vehicle Roof 4 x 4" with similar 44570 -4315 "Light Gray Hinge Vehicle Roof Holder 1 x 4" with similar 44568 -2343 "Yellow Minifig, Utensil Goblet " with similar 6269 "CUP WITHOUT WREATH"
  18. They should encase each collectible minifigure in carbonite.
  19. That's a bad link.
  20. I played the Lego Star Wars original trilogy on XBox 360. It was kind of like 3 games in one. It was pretty fun and cute to play. You get to choose which character to play as, and just kind of run through the map shooting at guys and occasionally holding a button to auto-build things out of brick piles. It did get repetitive toward the end and the game wasn't really difficult, but it was fun enough. I wonder if the other Lego games had different gameplay or if they're all sort of hack-and-slash cuteness.
  21. Oh sorry, I forgot about Batman. I also forgot Spiderman too. Probably some others I'm missing too. I'll squeeze them in above Thomas and below Indy . Star Wars Harry Potter <POTC?> Toy Story Indiana Jones Batman Spiderman Thomas the Tank Engine Prince of Persia
  22. Similar story with me. I just came out of my dark ages. I know you can still order pirate sets from S@H, but I've chosen to skip the 2009 classic pirates mostly because money is tight, and also because I would want to collect all of it anyway and I'm not even sure that would be possible this late in its cycle. I'm glad I can jump on board with the POTC sets! I liked the first movie and honestly the other two were pretty bad. Even so I'll almost certainly collect these just because of the theme. Even if the script and filmography may have taken a nosedive with the sequels, the visuals and movie sets and costumes were still very stylish, and that will hopefully translate to good Lego sets. I was thinking about the Lego licensed themes, and it occurs to me that they go in this order from most to least successful: Star Wars Harry Potter Toy Story Indiana Jones Thomas the Tank Engine Prince of Persia (That's including duplo too I guess, lol). If I had to guess, I predict that POTC would fit in above Toy Story and below Harry Potter, or maybe on the same level as Toy Story. So I guess I'm saying, I think it stands a good chance of having more than one wave and maybe even sticking around for multiple years like Harry Potter.
  23. In each of the sets that just released? Hmm, the teaser site said there were 6 treasures, right? There are only 5 that you mentioned there. Maybe the sixth will be in an exclusive set.
  24. Whoa, that would be a lot of ships! I'm not sure about that. I think there might be more "scene-based" setups like with POP and Indiana Jones, kind of like the temple of doom set. Sets like the duel on the waterwheel from the first film, and stuff like that. I'd predict that there will be one ship at least, but probably not more than two. I would like to see a set for that scene in the last movie where Jack is hallucinating about being in a strange desert. But that's probably too esoteric for the target audience. I'm sure a MOC of that would happen straight away though, maybe using scorpions and pieces from the Pharaoh's Quest sets.
  25. Ah crap. I was totally planning on buying a case, thinking I would keep one complete set to myself with two additional sets to sell online to help defray the cost, and then a few bags left over to sell/forget about. I'm not sure what I'd do now. I guess if we can actually find them in stores now I can go bag-fondling on my lunch break some time. Or just buy a complete opened set on eBay. I have to say... I'm glad we can still at least feel. But it seems like if lego got rid of the barcodes, from their intention and perspective (prevent cherrypicking) they should've changed the packaging to a hard case or small plastic bubble thing (like Japan). I guess a foil bag is cheaper to produce. Well whatever. I hope the claims of increased production is true and there is enough supply.
