  1. These are great. Jim, Dwight, and Ryan are spot on. Ryan's hair and smirk really make it for that one.
  2. As a software engineer who works hard to make a quality consumer product, it burns me to know that piracy (no pun intended) constitutes something upwards of 20% when compared to legitimate sales. It's easy to argue that Lego doesn't need any more money or that they make a product difficult to obtain, but... we all know what the truth is. We've all pirated a movie or music album, at the very least to tide us over until we can legitimately buy the item; kind of a gray area. So I'm not flaming you. I don't think the off-brand patent-infringing goods should be kept around here. It's a matter of principal and honor, if not legality. You make a very good point about the lead content; I wouldn't give that to a child. Quick story: I went to my local lego store. We were sifting around in the little bin with minifig parts and a little girl was there. She pops a little minifig head in her mouth and swallows. Lol, my girlfriend lets out a noise like "eep!.... she just swallowed a lego!" You see my point. You don't want a child getting lead poisoning because they see a tasty snack. I think you should dispose of them. Proper disposal like with alkaline batteries would be best I suppose, but otherwise there is the old garbage bin.
  3. What do you mean? Should it be in all caps like LEGO? lol
  4. One of my favorite podcasts is "Stuff You Should Know". I listen to it every day on the way to and from work in the car. There is one in particular that is of interest to this community. It's an episode where they cover the history of Legos and the Lego company. They talk about how they were invented, and they go through the evolution of minifigures and some sets. I learned some things I didn't know from it. Here is a link to that particular podcast episode (had trouble finding it on iTunes): How LEGOS Work And if you like what you hear and want to subscribe to the other podcast episodes, why not use iTunes: Stuff You Should Know Podcast
  5. Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I got the impression that they wield the censor hammer pretty heavily there. Most of the posts were along the lines of "what is your dream ___ if you could ___" or "let's pretend to be ____". It seemed a little too picture-perfect. Well whatever, I don't want to hate too much. They seem to foster a nice community for children, with the little web games and all. This site seems pretty nice, and I can tell most people are mature. I haven't read a single flame post here yet, which is refreshing, so thanks for welcoming me or at least not calling me a noob. I found this other thread about the winter bakery: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42927&st=0 fred67 mentioned the rumor mill and maybe the toy shop coming back... I'm only just getting my feet wet with legos here. I haven't been watching to see how the Lego company rotates their sets, i.e. how they discontinue production on some and introduce or re-introduce others. Although I see some available for direct purchase on lego.com from when I was a kid, such as some of the Pirate stuff. (I drool over Brickbeard's Bounty!) My girlfriend was talking about making a little Christmas village scene. I checked the sets and saw the bakery and toy shop sets. I don't see any others, and those two aren't in their own dedicated cononical "theme". I guess there's also the train set, but at that point you're talking hundreds of dollars/euros. Anyway I'm rambling, but that's where I was coming from. If anyone knows of any other snow-covered sets, let me know please.
  6. Hi, New member here. Nice to meet you all. Just FYI, I discovered this site from this link on a lego wiki (it seems to have links to local clubs and such, you might want to take a look): http://wiki-brick-links.wikispaces.com/Communities_lego_links I started looking for an unofficial forums site, and I guess it seems this is the busiest. I don't live in Europe though; I live in the U.S. I hope that's okay. Also I'm 28. I hope that's okay too, lol. Anyway I tried posting on the official lego forums. I tried starting a new topic, but it got rejected! Took them like 4 days to reject it too. So I don't think I'll be going back there. I guess they rejected my post because it was kind of miscategorized. I was showing an interest in these winter lego sets, but I posted it in the city area of their forums. I guess they have the official forums geared toward happy friendliness and maybe not more of my...how to put this...boring adult collector-ish sensibilities? Anyway here was what I posted there. Maybe someone here can comment. Thanks. ----- ORIGINAL POST ------- Hi, I found this set: Winter Village Bakery http://shop.LEGO.com/Product/?p=10216 And then I found this one that apparently isn't sold anymore Winter Toy Shop http://shop.LEGO.com/Product/?p=10199 I'm wondering if anyone can tell me: - Are there any other sets like this? - Do they have new ones when it gets closer to Christmas/New Years? Sorry, I know these ones aren't REALLY part of the City themed sets, but I didn't see a seasonal section.
