I think the cab hangs foreward a bit to much, other than that great job! -
[MOC] RV
Jelmer replied to Chapachuk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Although I think RV's are totally utterly crap you seem to prefectly recreate this piece of crap. From the powerbrick to the drivetrain, well done! -
Efferman's Custom Parts
Jelmer replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi Effe, is there a way to combine parts to get the price down a little bit? I'm wanting to use some of your 49x20 mudguards for two of my trucks, a quick count tells me I need 24 of your mudguards for this project (four on each axle), that's a total of 181.- in muduards. I'm willing to pay the premium for your time invested in these products, but together with some 62x20 sets Shapeways is quoting me 276.- including shipping. Even with Lego being the charity i'm hesitating. -

If your creation is fairly long you might need to add a second servo. I have a model with a wheelbase around 100 studs and when you steer with a single servo the torsion in the central steering axle prevents te rear axle from turning. Only axles close to the servo will steer depending on the weight and friction on the remaining wheels.

[MOC] Front loader

Isn't there room for a 24t gear? that would speed up the steering quite a bit. -

[HELP] MB Actros 4150K
Jelmer replied to Dafgek81's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The four stud long old 9v motor produces about 6N.cm @340RMP, the new M-motor produces 11N.cm @400RPM, if you normalise both to the same RPM and ignore losses due to friction you will see that the new M-motor produces twice the amount of torque at the same speed as opposed to the four stud long 9v motor. 10N.cm vs. 22N.cm @200RPM. -

Jelmer replied to Dafgek81's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If you are building this model from scratch, implement the new powerfunctions M-motor instead of the old-new-v2 9V motor. At the same RPM the M-motor is twice as strong. -

Can your 8043 do this?
Jelmer replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Compressing air is quite easy, you can even buy a container of compressed air in your local wallmart. Compressed oil isn't so easily accomplished. Also oils ability to maintain its density when temperature changes is a big plus for accuracy. -
If you tap the linked brick a page should open where you can select the polarity of a port.

8879. I can't paste text in this box so you'll have to look it up yourself on the Lego.com website.

Normal remote has only two settings, full power forward or full power backwards. The train remote has 14 settings, seven in each direction. With the train remote you can drive/steer at seven different speeds/angles. So you can make a fast wide turn, slow narrow turn and everything in between.
-
Steering with servo works fine as long as you use the train remote or sBrick. I don't get it why they didn't include the train remote, according to their own webshop the thing is $4.- more than the regular remote, for four dollars you get way better control over the model.

That depends on the strain you put on the motor. Five motors running freely aren't a problem but five motors near stalling will crap out the battery within a few seconds. If you want power without protection you should disable the current limiter in the Lego battery boxes or use a third party battery.
