If they are still using an 8 tooth gear to turn it then I am assuming that the only result would be a reduction in rotational speed, a good thing. I'll let you know when it's built.

Does anyone know what the part number of the new turn table is? I'm gathering the parts for an 8043 Excavator and this would be a good test of this design.

This is my version of Jurgens U42009. I believe that I've incorporated nearly all of the suggestions from the forum and added a few of my own. These include filling in some of the pannel gaps behind the cab and on the sides of the crane. The biggest change is the addition of the Christophe boom. The base was modified to allow the boom to lift to about to about 85 or so degrees. With the addition of the second counter weight, an interference problem developed when the crane was rotated 180 degrees. To solve this I shortened the engine and moved the IR receivers forward. [WIP] Fokker DR.1 Red Baron
Karle replied to martijnnab's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I hate to put a rod in your spokes but the Folker DR1 had a rotary engine. The crank shaft was fixed to the air frame and the cylinders , along with the prop which was attached to them, rotated. A good indicator of a rotary engines is the cutaway of the lower cowl for cooling. Your model looks great and if you modify it to a rotary will be very impressive. I'm look forward to seeing the rest of the model. -

Being new to Lego, I have not seen this suspension. Could one of you tell me were I can find more information about it, -
8043 White MOC
Karle replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I recently saw the 8043 excavator and decided that it would make a good project. The instruction have been up loaded and the parts gathering has begun. Do you have any experience with this kit or the 8043 MOC that you would care to share ? -
Sets that haunt you
Karle replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The last time I played with Lego was in the late1950's. I saw the 42009 last year and decided to start building. Looking back over the "missed kits" that people have posted I would have wanted the 8275 and 8043. The current prices for those kits are insane, so I've down loaded the drawings from Lego so that I can build them. -
Lego Airbus A300-600R Project

With enough power anything can be made to fly, once! Best of luck on your project. -
Hi bonox, I loaded efferman's Oberwagen file over a month ago. LDD was able to generate step instructions for all but the Gesamtmdell and Teileliste sub files. afol 1969 had the same problem and offered to generate a pdf if no one else would. If you were able to find a work around would you please share it. I also prefer effermans version of the cane and will be ordering his single actuator.

question about 42009 boom
Karle replied to ricebucket's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If the boom will lift and lower without a problem then you have it's mounted correctly. Try disconnecting the LAs and then, with the boom in the rest position, see if you can reconnect them using different holes. After I rebuilt my boom to Chis Moittie's design, I did not need the cams. -

Lego Serial Numbers?
Karle replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It could be a prototype mold mark. My 42030's bucket has no markings. -
I've down loaded efferman's drawings. LDD was able to open and create step drawings for 4 of the files. For some reason it could not "open" the gesamtmodell or teileliste files. Would one of the experts take a look and see what the problem is. I know it's a lot of work but "we" really need a pdf for this crane.

Very nice. Great use of the curved panels. How does it run? -
Studless 8275
Karle replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I say go for it. I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my Ultimate 42009. -
I'm nearly finished with the Ultimate 42009. I solved the LA-cam (boom) lift problem by using a #5 axle through the cams and boom lift bracket hole. Then placing the LA's pin hole on the axle. A second #5 was run through the LA and cam axle hole to stabilize the assembly. I realized that the cams now serve no purpose and were replaced by two 60483 beams. I know that one picture would indeed be worth all of these words but I lack the computer skills at this time, to post it.

Lego Element ID - What's the logic?
Karle replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well now! That's as clear as mud. -
The crane looks like a IHI CCH500, with the right-hand cab. I am looking forward to what the ultimate 42042 will look like, picture full IR and a 2 meter+ boom and jib.

I have been following, with great interest, what has been happening to the GMK 6400 model sense I received a 42009 kit for Christmas. I am going to upgrade my 42009 to the full "ultimate" version and then add the new boom. The resulting model, by the way, looks like the Liebherr 1100-5.2. From there I was going to build the 6400 with the 42009 style cab, making it a fairly good model of a Liebherr 1300-6.2 or 1350-6.1. Now you talented gentleman have come up with the Ultimate GMK 6400 in what appears to be just a few weeks, leaving me with new decisions to make. I have several questions that I hope one of you can answer. Did anyone ever look into adding differentials to the drive shaft between drive modules to compensate for the different wheel RPM's while tuning? A single 3D printed cylinder was tested, I believe, what has happened to that project? Thanks to all of you for your good work.
