I looked at the leaked photo again, and now I'm annoyed that the exhaust vents on the front mandibles aren't perfectly round like they were on the old one. What is seen cannot be unseen. Still a day 1 purchase for me though

Ok guys sorry to burst the speculative bubble, but BrickCommander just clarified that he was referring to the FO Star Destroyer on brickset. He also hinted at the 2015 MF retiring soon, and suggested that you "grab 2" so I'm guessing that means that there won't be another system scale MF for some time.

Sorry to add fuel to the MF fire, but I really REALLY hope the ESB-themed minifigures aren't adorned with the breathing equipment the characters wear when inside the space slug. It would be cool to see a new part for this (and it would be logical, considering Rey and Finn wear the same gear in TFA), but if they print it on the torso/reverse side of the head I'll be very disappointed. Does anyone know if there's a part already in existence that could be used?

Hahaha yup, I know. I thought I made it clear that I did know but re-reading my original post it appears I haven't. I've decided to scrap the idea of building it in scale with 10225 and just go on as is. Hopefully I can get the rest to turn out as good as the legs have.

I believe the Slave I is doing a lot better than the TIE Fighter is, so I wouldn't be surprised if the TIE ends up retiring before the Slave I does and they're trying to get rid of stock now. Either way, everything will still have triple VIP points

In 2012 LEGO released 10225, the UCS R2-D2. It remains one of my favorite sets of all time, but I've always felt like something was missing... and now with a new BB-8 model coming (that appears to be in the same scale as R2-D2), it's obvious that C-3PO needs to be done next. So I set out to build one myself... and so far I've succeeded... kind of. Legs by Brikkyy13 ., on Flickr back by Brikkyy13 ., on Flickr Sections by Brikkyy13 ., on Flickr With R2-D2 by Brikkyy13 ., on Flickr Currently we're looking at 1295 pieces, and it can only get bigger. The original plan was to have it in scale with the R2-D2 set, but since I'm a bit lazy instead of doing measurements I just eyeballed it, using the size of his feet to judge how big everything should be. So the feet ended up being in scale with R2, and everything else accidentally turned out bigger. I didn't actually realize this until I took the screenshots, and I was too proud of my work to go back and change it. The next step is to make C-3PO's feet bigger to be in scale with the rest of his legs, and to continue working upwards from there. I intend on bricklinking all the parts and building this bad boy for my collection once it's finished. I will eventually post the lxf and/or instructions too. I'll update this post as I update the model. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thanks for checking it out!

LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!

Grievous' speeder will no doubt be $50AUD so unless Kmart, Target, Big W or somewhere else has it for $30AUD or below (like they have been doing with the republic tank and vader transformation sets) I'll be passing. Yoda's hut intrigued me at first considering it's been rumored for about a year at this point, but looking at it it's too square for me. Maybe I'll get it just for the parts if it goes on clearance. Can't wait to see TLJ and Han Solo sets. -
We haven't seen the front of the new one yet, but my money's on it being the same piece

^I doubt the designer was given a specific budget for this one. 10179 originally started as a MOC, and the designer was told to finish it first and they'd price it afterwards. I expect that for this one they were told "take the old one, go from there"

I was referring to the detailing in this area, but going back and looking at it in higher quality it appears to be constructed with the grille tiles. I think you're right, all stickers (if any) will stay in the cockpit/any other interior section.
-
The only thing that disappoints me is the fact that I'm pretty sure I can see some stickers on it - right above the docking rings on both sides

Brickset has updated their info

If someone told me yesterday that we'd see 2018 sets before we saw the falcon, I wouldn't believe them. I wonder what sort of security measures they have in place for it. Hopefully the instruction manual talks about it (unlikely considering that it's probably already been produced, but hey we might find out eventually)

I've seen people mention a "winter village" set a few times. I don't follow the seasonal stuff so I probably don't know what I'm talking about I don't think that one counts... or maybe it does and we're going to get extremely lucky. (That Chima one was given away as a prize to a competition, was it not?)
-
I think this pretty much confirms what many of us have been thinking. This will be the largest set ever... unless it refers to the winter village.

Sorry, just saw "1 post" and assumed :/. Anyway, just putting it out there that LEGO store usually aren't the most reliable sources so we don't have another 20 pages of people asking questions that don't have answers. Can't wait to see photos, my wallet is ready :P

While I don't doubt that the new MF will be exactly as described above, I'm going to be patient and wait for pictures instead of taking the word of someone who just created their account, sorry.

If only LEGO was as simple as the exchange rate when it comes to the larger sets. Honestly, I was expecting $1400-$1600 but seeing that excel chart I did up gives me hope. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky with this one?
-
Just popping this here in case anyone wants to look. I was bored and thinking about how much the Falcon could cost in AUD (and even though I'm usually against price per part ratio I used it anyway) so I did up a spreadsheet that I think gives us a good look at what the possible piece count could be. I've worked this out based on the average of 11 high end licensed system sets' price per piece ratio in both AUD and USD and used the maximum and minimum to exclude some data. If the set does not stray from the average price per part, the set will most likely be 7500-7600 parts and will be $1200-$1300 AUD. If not, based on the data I can say it will almost certainly be above 6200 pieces and can't be more than $1300 AUD. Here's the workbook on google docs
-
Really? I was 100% positive that it was $980 retail but just went on sale that often that it was never at that price. Hopefully the new one is less than $1400 AUD (still a good deal compared to the prices of the last one).
-
Price per piece is a horrible indicator of value. This set could be anywhere between 6500-8500 pieces and still fall in the range as mentioned above. What we would be better off looking at is the weights of the boxes, but I doubt anyone would be able to figure out the distribution of large/small parts. Either way, this set is probably going to crack the 6k benchmark and end up being the largest set of all time, isn't that enough?

+1 to shop.lego.com. Really the only way to get sets like this without waiting for them to maybe show up in Myer or Toys R Us. Plus, through s@h you can get VIP points and special polybag promos which you can't get elsewhere in Aus.
