In Holland it is very common that dumptrucks have 5 axles. Most of the time the first three and fifth axles are steered. Also the third axle can be lifted when driving empty. In Holland most dumptrucks are Ginaf, Scania, DAF, Terberg and Volvo. Mercedes is more commonly used in Germany. And there 4 axle dumptrucks are also more common.

[HELP] MB Actros 4150K
Dafgek81 replied to Dafgek81's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello guys, Have another question about what pneumatic pump is better to use in my Actros. The old type x191c01 or the new slightly longer 99798c01? Is the new one better and would it give a better airsupply? There are two pumps used in the instructions. -
Wauw what a great and detailed MOC, love all the technical stuff inside, will defenetly be on my to build wishlist.

I think this is because there are a lot of fans that love V8 engines in trucks. Scania, Volvo, Mercedes and M.A.N have them. Although Mercedes has stopt building trucks with V8 engines. That is why the set has a inline 6 cilinder engine.
-
I prefer the 8258, because off al the stuff in it. Don't nesseserely like the cab, looks to much like a Scania, hate those ugly trucks.

In europe, most tractor units have 6 tyres, sometimes they have a liftable steered second or third axle. Trailers have 3 axles with 6 tyres, so most of them have a maximum of 14 tyres. I think all the tyres on the american trucks is a little overkill, because here in Holland we drive around with 50.000kg off total weight. So we do not need all the extra weight on wheels. And yes, I am a truckdriver, so I can know about these things.

Can't wait to get these long pneumatics, still collecting parts for my old school Actros 4150K side tipping dumptruck with crane. Want to use the skinny one for extending the 3rd cranesection and the thick ones for moverent on the 2nd and 3rd cranesection

[HELP] Stud Dimensions
Dafgek81 replied to Dafgek81's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thaks, so if I am right, a stud is 7,8 mm long, but 2 studs is 15,8 mm. I am still a little confused, even with the picture that D3K posted. -

I am a big truck fan, and I know for a fact that the newest series of mercs does not have V6 or V8 engines, Mercedes stoped using them because of fuelefficiency.
