  1. I have a memory card reader that uses USB 3.0 and with fast memory cards like Class 10 and UHS-1 SD, those goes by very fast. Not many camera are designed to take advantage of USB 3.0 connection yet even though many of them can use fast memory card like my Canon 550D.
  2. That eyes looks like it's popping out as Hook is about to meet his demise. Now I need to dig out my DVD and watch it.
  3. Tiger woman!! And the gargoyle would probably work well with a blank grey head piece for castle sets. Maybe lose the legs and mount it on an inverted slope?
  4. Second book I ever read (first one was Shooting Stars) and I am tempted to steal your design for myself. Too bad it's full of LEGO-unapproved design like bending plates or I would have suggested this goes on Cuusoo (or Ideas whatever)
  5. Troy store sucked. I went there yesterday and almost half of the bins were empty or covered up with ads. The build a model (all 4) couldn't be done as a lot of required parts were gone such as 1x1 round tile with eye or such. I did pick up one large up full of 2x2 trans-clear slope (there were still lots left) and filled in space with 1x1 trans-red tiles. So just one large cup, the smallest LEGO order for me since Troy store opened.
  6. How did this thread end up 7 pages from the front? It's a Speed Trap!!
  7. Geh! Alskadosis nice effort but please shrink those pictures. Small sets like Mixels could be made 250pix max and still be usable.
  8. I've found small leaf, 4x4 pink plate, 10x10 octogon plate, and a few other pieces here and there inside Walmart. Like someone opened a box, possibly for shoplifting and scattered a few pieces. Also I've found a few pieces outside and once I found a 2x2 tile and a 1x4 arch in Goodwill, I think it may have come out of a loose or open box because I never found any boxed LEGO. The earliest find I can remember was a 2x4 black brick at my high school. Oh way back in maybe '82 or '83 when my high school was hosting a faire of some kind open to public. I was not 10 yet. (and I did attend this same high school years later)
  9. Currently LDD is just slow because the code were never optimized for multi-core CPU so it would run on even ancient Pentium 3 laptop I have (1GHz) Also it doesn't really take advantage of high end video card either. I am hoping this will be fixed when they make LDD 5 in the future, to use multi-core for connection computation and to leave complex rendering to high end video card.
  10. I hope they are trying to redo the base code so future LDD would be able to take advantage of multiple cores. Right now LDD can only use one core and it can struggle with large project or project with lots of polygon count (ie a dozen baseplates can make some cheap PC struggle and crash) while making it multi-core friendly would mean bigger and better project from people who has lots of time. I need to replace my stuff, a good quad Opteron can have upward of 64 cores total in a single computer and for programs that can use all threads, it would rip anything up in no time. (not to mention empty wallet)
  11. I tried this in LDD and according to LDD, both works. I used both older and newer style gear. I don't have the rack to actually test this though LDD file: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/ldd/rack_pinion.lxf
  12. Some CPU like Intel 2700k overclocks into 5GHz fairly easily and that can be a boon for LDD. Some people have gotten over 8.5Ghz out of AMD FX but such overclock usually comes at a price like continuous liquid nitrogen supply.
  13. You forgot having Obi-Wan and Leia on the ship at the same time. Never happened in the film, he was killed before she boarded the ship. There are supposed to be more easter eggs. I hear Darth Vader may be hiding in the ship somewhere, he did want it after all and spent half of the ESB chasing after her.
  14. LDD making instruction? If it's more than 100 pieces, it's usually useless like impossible out of order build, floating pieces, etc. LDD was originally meant for young kids to make project that they can buy through LEGO, not to make a monster 500,000 piece model.
  15. I can't open it either. Did you by any chance save when it crashed? If it crashed while saving, the file is probably toast.
  16. Not mine but I didn't see this posted yet so sharing it. http://lego.gizmodo....-mil-1703579472     I see only one issue: Chewie and Han is in the wrong seat.
  17. 42km? Can the batteries last long enough for one complete trip? It's too bad the metal 9v track doesn't handle power over that distance.
  18. How do one animate in POV? Specifically the slow rotating of the project to show all angles? Moving them a few degree at a time in between POV work is slow.
  19. I've had lots of black hinge plates but never seen green one available. I may need to go there and see if Troy store got anything nice.
  20. Mixing old grey and bley would give it a bit of variety but Imperial fleets are supposed to be "clean" looking. If I were building one like yours, I would have mixed it all in.
  21. I've seen those in Tyco and Megablocks but i don't think LEGO made an official version.
  22. https://ideas.lego.c...ects/68687 The LDD file was provided for the ship and 2 bases (plus another extra) in the comment. I wanted to tweak it, change nonexistent color, replace old color with modern color, and such. Peeling back the wing of the ship, the person used a lot of hinge plates with 2/3 fingers to get studs on both side of the wings. The hinge plates haven't been produced since 2006, is there a modern part in production that can do the same trick? With multiple hinges and plates, I am wondering if the ship's wings may be a bit flimsy?
  23. Also what computer are you using?
  24. LDD weren't coded to take advantage of multiple core or CPUs so large project can make LDD run very slow even if the computer seems fine otherwise.
  25. Ran to Troy store when I was in the area for an errand. Unfortunately I didn;t have the time to write down everything or bring camera to film everything so I couldn't update Wall of bricks. Lots of tan and some nice colors. Don't bother looking for Dark Azure parts, I cleaned the bin :p 1x2 grey tile with dials and '82' pattern: 869 4x6 tan plate: 24 2x6 tan brick: 16 2x3 tan brick: 17 2x2 tan brick: 22 2x6x2 windscreen Tr. black: 2 1x1 black headlight brick: 129 4x6 blue plate: 19 4x4 green plate: 40 1x2 grey plate with 1 finger: 151 1x2 grey plate with 2 fingers: 145 1x2 yellow brick with face pattern: 6 6x8 green plate: 11 2x2 tr. neon yellow round brick: 101 1x2 medium blue plate: 179 1x2 purple plate: 118 2x4 dark azure brick: 120 1x2 dark azure brick: 1 (was mixed in with 2x4 bricks, may have been leftover) 1x8 white brick: 59 1x8 white tile: 57 1x2 white inverted slope: 59 1x2 dark pink slope: 50 1x1 tr. yellow round plate: 230 1x1 tr. orange slope: 550 All in 5 big and 1 small cups.
