Digging thru the history about LEGO...
Lego Otaku replied to LEGO Historian's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Pretty sure LEGO didn't start using 4 digit numbering until early 80's -
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/ldd/2600.lxf The angled top part were rather tricky to do. While it looks good, can it be improved to eliminate gaps? I inclded LDD file if you want to play with. The string connecting to 2 joysticks are not quite right either, LDD didn't have regular 21L string with studs and I didn't want the overly long so I used other string with grips. It can be changed when I create want list for Bricklink. Also short of cheating, is there a 3mm rod or hose about 2L long at the most that can be used in place of the 1x1 round tiles for switches on the system? Something in silver-like color

What I thought when I put it together. Rides like a horse.

New Lighting accessories for Lego Buildings and MOC
Lego Otaku replied to jonathanwilson's topic in Community
Hmmm I see illegal connection in the lightsaber picture. LEGO considers transparent rod through transparent hole an illegal connection because polycarbonite can bind. I would like the light poles though, the official LEGO version does not have through hole for LED or wiring.- 10 replies

A Secret Santa on Bricklink got me 2 sets. A and 442 shuttle set (used, no box or original manual) Loved the classic space theme and these 2 I didn't have. That is all I got for the past Christmas. If it wasn't for car problem, I would have gotten more LEGO (from my parents) but new tires don't come cheap.

I've tried submitting instruction scans that they didn't have (some older and a few newer) and they never updated. I wonder if the owner just quit updating manual features such as new building manual or part lists?

If you're having trouble finding stores without resorting to international or waiting a long time for 5 store combo, you should check the report anyway. It will list the parts and number of stores that has them, in order from fewest store. If you see a 0 store, odd are the part you're looking for is very rare or nonexistent. Make correction if needed, change to less rare color or design if possible. If you're still stuck on long wait, break up the list and move the top 5 fewest parts to a separate list for a "to do later" and work on the rest.

Need to respect people more over there as well. Inappropriate comment removed

Done and responded http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/ldd/eb-rcb5-turn16.lxf if you don't want to wait. I worked on the bank wall and added water tower to load up the train's boiler. If there's issues with 2 men taking bath in the tower (with pants on obviously), I can take those out and add a few more pieces to the bank wall.

I know my computer can handle larger model. I did help someone with a massive 17 feet long star destroyer for POV rendering. This tiny project is ez.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion

That alien head, a little touch up paint in red and one could have almost official Zoidberg minifig. All I need is a cyclop head with ponytail -
Lego Bright Blue = BrickLink ?
Lego Otaku replied to rockethead26's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes it is http://www.peeron.com/inv/colors excellent color guide between official LEGO color and color used by Peeron and Bricklink. Note some shades of similar color like a few pink variations are all under one Bricklink color. -
This is a year old but I needed to post one thing: Finally got around to turning that LDD file I made for the 2013 contest into a reality. The red and white band does stay at an angle on its own and the ornament stays mostly centered when hung. 100% pure LEGO, not even a glue or anything.

Classic space. The original mostly grey kind without so many tiny little pieces. A 500 piece ship from 1979 is much bigger than today's 1000 piece ship because back then tiny pieces weren't used as much. It was more about imagination to fill in the details, not slipping in a bunch of $0.001 plastic pieces. Forestmen!!!

All plastic will get damaged no matter how hard it is.

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
Lego Otaku replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Dem glowy chain Why doesn't LEGO make transparent neon-yellow chain in standard set?? Only trans-orange was released and it is this year, almost 20 years after LEGO first released the chain. -
Great. With the official Mobil stickers, I can make an official Valdetz complete with lots and lots of black 1x1 plates as oil spill.

Odd I never got notification that I was up already? I think email notification got borked or something.

Missing or damaged shrink would tell customer the box has been opened and could be missing pieces. A carefully removed and reapplied seal fooled me once before and I ended up with a Harry Potter castle set missing all of minifigs.

Probably no. The only time they do a run of specific part in certain color is if you belong to a limited (and very expensive) group that can order in large bulk. Those parts are not allowed for sale in general.
