LEGO Ideas Discussion
Lego Otaku replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So sad it didn't make the cut. Can anyone explain how the tasty looking roof was done? Maybe a quick LDD file? -
The LEGO Group takes civil actions against LEPIN
Lego Otaku replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think it'd be more like victory by attrition. LEGO has considerable assest and can afford to drag anyone to court over every little incident. Counterfeiter like Lepin may not have much in their assest and could be bankrupted before the court settles the case or if they survived and the court doesn't rule in LEGO's favor, they may not have much money left to survive for long. -
The LEGO Group takes civil actions against LEPIN

If LEGO and China succeeds in keeping Lepin from releasing any more sets, it's going to screw sellers who pre-sold new sets on sites like Aliexpress and eBay. -
Is there anything from the OT that has not been built?
Lego Otaku replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in LEGO Star Wars
^^ bump ^^ We need an "I am your father" set! Let's not forget the duel with Luke and Darth Vader in Cloud City, in the giant vertical shaft. We had a carbon freezing chamber that can easily be used for duel in play set but there's nothing to play after that. We need a platform with hand rails that can easily split apart during the duel, a bundle of towers that gets "cut" off, and another bundle of towers where Luke was pinned before he jumped down the shaft to escape from Darth Vader. Wondering if LEGO would release Luke minifig with one hand only as his right hand got chopped off during the duel. -
Same thing here, and in other sub forum. I can only see the main forum or the individual threads that are linked elsewhere but I can't see sub forums which prevents me from seeing new threads or making new threads. Using Windows 10, 64 bits. Chrome browser Version 53.0.2785.116 m which is already current, and not sure what else to try.

I've seen the picture of ET set coming soon. The minifig is very cute and I definitely want to get it but I don't like the ugly phone. I don't remember ET ever using a red phone at all. Does anyone have picture or instruction for ET phone that looks like the one in movie?

https://wwwsecure.us.lego.com/en-us/service/buildinginstructions/search#?search&text=75093%2520Death%2520Star%25E2%2584%25A2%2520Final%2520Duel%2520Star%2520Wars%2520TM Something is wrong with v39 instruction. v39 is sized to fit USA letter paper if one choose to print out but when I downloaded it, I got only 2 pages and it looks like someone forgot to include the rest of the instruction! v29 downloaded correctly although people who intended to print them in letter size is going to see margin problem. Anyway to tell LEGO that their v39 of instruction book for 75093 Star Wars Final Duel set is badly messed up and missing everything but 2 ad pages.

Shipping prices on Bricklink
Lego Otaku replied to harrypotterstarwarsfan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Shipping from USA is horrible. I've gotten contacted for quote request on sets from USA to wherever they lived. Even at first class, shipping can be $20-$30 for one small to medium sized sets (under 500 pieces) I remember a time when I could ship a 500 piece boxed set for under $10. -

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
Lego Otaku replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm also for MF but leave a few rare parts unique to 10179 like the gray mast and levers and use different part design or color for new MF that is based on TFA. Maybe even add in a tiny Bat Tumbler like they did to the model MF for the movie? If going by 10179 mode scale, a single minifig rollerskate piece in gray color would probably come close. -
Alternative to hinges in LDD?
Lego Otaku replied to Lego Otaku's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
That could work. 1x4 hinge plate is rather common and a couple stacked could add enough friction to keep the wings from flopping around. You mean the 1x1 brick with vertical bar? 1x1 has weaker clutch than 2x1 and may simply fall off unless I pile on a few bricks to hold that one in place. I'd have to look into this if other option doesn't work. That's another one. Ball joint plates, 2 stacked with a plain 1x2 plate in between would force only horizontal movement. Is there a current mixel out that has lots of ball hinges I can get to experiment? Edit: LDD shows it can move 40' to -40'. A bit less than half of the regular 1x4 hinge plate or brick (0 to 180') but may be fine. -
I am trying to make something and I needed something that is somewhat small, like these: The click hings requires too much pressure to change position. The freestyle hinge is generally loose and would be floppy. Is there something in the range of 1x5 bricks or 2x5 even that isn't overly tight like click hinge and not floppy loose? Trying to make a minifig scale plane with wings that folds in and out depending on flight modes.

Didn't watch the last few season so I don't know about 2 deflectors but it would be easy to turn off older one and not take it out.

Is there anything from the OT that has not been built?
Lego Otaku replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in LEGO Star Wars
What about the sick bay scene at the end of ESB? Luke with one mechanical hand, Leia, and 3 droids plus a few bits of medical stuff so kids could play "heal the wounded Rebels" Bonus: a mini Millennium Falcon so kids could swoosh it past the window like the movie. -
There is a seller that has 3D printed Monorail tracks and few other parts. I am not connected to the seller: http://www.ebay.com/sch/4dbrixshop/m.html?item=272269707705&hash=item3f648a09b9%3Ag%3Ap2wAAOSw9eVXU1Nm&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 At about $12.50 per long straight, it is far cheaper than genuine LEGO and would be an option for whoever likes LEGO Monorail and doesn't mind mixing in a little bit of non-LEGO element to save on money. I am interested in his extender, no more tow ball connector to extend my Monorail train.

Studs in technic holes?
Lego Otaku replied to ReplicaOfLife's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
LEGO set 1682 has a pair of 1x3 plates mounted into the side of 1x4 technic brick (shuttle's engine assembly, part of orbit maneuvering engines). It was legal in mid 80s but not anymore. -
[HELP] LDD colors
Lego Otaku replied to syclone's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I also get same problem when viewing color palette. My laptop is 1920x1080 and I can't see the top rows of color if the LDD window is maximized. If I shrink LDD so it is not maximized (LDD default), I can see the top rows but I can't see the bottom rows. I strongly suspect the bug stems from Windows display setting where you have option to change size of text, objects, and apps to 125%, 150%, or more rather than default 100%. I have mine to 125% because the text on my laptop screen is a bit small and hard to see otherwise. -

Cloud City, the full model Architect style? What about the scene between Darth Vader and Luke on platforms, where Vader reveals himself to be Luke's father? -
Remove the top pink 1x3 plate, move the ears and horn to the red 2x3 plate, mount the 2x3 plate to the top of kitty's face.

A couple weeks or so ago I went to one in Great Lakes Crossing, a new one that opened a few months ago, It is about 30 minutes closer than the one in Troy. Scraped these up: First time I've found round 1x1 tiles in Michigan and they had gray + white with eye. I can wipe the eyes off and get plain white tiles.

I had this issue: 2 years ago. LDD tried to place the brick *below* the baseplate that has no connecting point. It does seems worse now day, LDD is completely ignoring line of sight and tries to place the new piece at the lowest spot. Got to remember LDD were originally made for young kids and for making project that are simple in design like young children Creator sets. It is not surprising that part placement can get weird when you try to have a few floating parts and empty space below parts. People who assembled a massive 100k + project probably have lots of lost parts hiding in the wrong places that aren't visible at all.
