  1. No Millennium Falcon?
  2. I'd go but it's a rather long commute from Michigan to Florida
  3. I agree their service is beyond excellent. I've contacted them 3 times since coming out of the dark age last year. One for damaged piece, one for missing piece, and again for service pack for the set 10213. They always answered fast and sent in the parts.
  4. I just keep mine separate and not bother with old grey for large MOC. All the LEGO I got from late 70's to 80's has remained isolated from the rest of my collection except for 4.5v train tracks and monorail parts, those don't exist in bley!! So it's hard to accidentally mix them with new parts.
  5. Bottom line, if you want only the bricks and pieces that are buyable from LEGO, use only normal mode. Do not use extended or universe mode as those contains obsolete bricks plus unrestricted color palette (trans-orange rubber tire anyone?)
  6. Straight track from older 4.5v and 12v can be used with narrow rail as well. Also 2x4 brick with axle holder and train wheel with the same type of axle can be used on narrow rail. Asfar as making roller coasters, there is still the challenge of overcoming gravity. Train have shown problem climbing a slope steeper than a few plates per track section and it would most defiantly have trouble climbing the narrow tracks. Unpowered train can work but you'd have to build the chain system to pull trains up. Overall it is limited but usable. Unless LEGO releases more for narrow track design, you're limited to being creative to make things work.
  7. That is what the popsicle was. Coffee froze on the stirring stick
  8. What would you do if you find any inferior clone bricks in your LEGO lot? Maybe a lot you found at Garage Sale, Boot Sale, eBay, etc and it has a few junk mixed in. Do you throw it on the floor, make a cross with your fingers, and yell "Begone, vile doppleganger!" or what? Or maybe you burn every one in hope of appeasing LEGO God and your next haul would be better. I keep all the junk bricks I find into one pile, and when it gets big enough I sell em on eBay under the guise "Megablock lot, 99% Megablock. I went through them and threw out LEGO and other non Megablock junk" Gets buyer's attention and had a few "under the table" offers for those LEGO that I "threw" away. I did off one buyer, he offered a nice sum for "anything I find and removed from Megablocks". He got a bag of 12 Hot Wheels missing lot of original paint, a load of empty candy wrappers, several domino (not complete), several card from games like UNO, plastic military figures, and other odd and ends that had nothing to do with building blocks. That was before I went into the Dark Age a decade ago, about a year before PayPal. My latest megajunk pile will probably get sent to a local charity shop, marked "No LEGO, Megablocks only" and hopefully some weak minded reseller with the IQ of a rock would buy then resell on eBay the lot at ridiculously high, like normal LEGO high.
  9. What about Toy Shop? Came out in 2009, and the surprised with a 2010 reissue. Some sellers who stocked up on them to resell for profit were a bit miffed, and the few unlucky buyers had no recourse if they paid $50 more than MSRP.
  10. If your suitcases are checked, you may still get dinged for customs. Or possibly lose them if the content weren't declared for tax purpose. If you have a young child (5-10 year old) you can take along, you could try to claim you bought the LEGO from UK to USA for the child to play with, and are returning to UK with the same stuff. Of course, extra ticket for a child may be more than custom taxes on package shipped to UK. Undervaluing custom form can be a bad idea if you wish to insure LEGO against damage or lost package. They're going to notice if you had the form marked $10 in value for custom but set amount at $500 for insurance. Plus there's a risk to the sender if the custom agents gets to the sender about lying on custom form. It's a gamble how LEGO gets shipped.
  11. Trying to recreate a scene where Rohan went south to help Gondor?
  12. I see your arm and a leg, and I raise with my kidney and the naming right to my first born child. If this can be independently verified as authentic, and do go to auction and sells very well, we may find out at least 1 more other lucky winner that comes forward to sell another one of the 5.
  13. The current OT BP we have are Hoth themed. and we had Tattooine themed BP before than. So it would seem logical that next OT BP are something from RotJ like scout troop and imperial soldiers with speeder, and various rebel BP, maybe a generic Ewok minifig with the rebels?
  14. Update from above post, he uploaded the instruction for both parts of the molding machines: http://falves.josesa.net/MouldingMachine/ As usual. LDD was kooky and the instruction seemed odd but you should be able to figure out most of them.
  15. One of my slowest online PAB order was a bit over 2 weeks. No one had on BL over 1,000 of a part I wanted and had to go to LEGO. I guess larger size slowed them down a bit.
  16. Probably a bot going around making posts to lure us away. Just report them and ignore them.
  17. I entered my last dark age a bit before LEGO went color-crazy and came out a bit over a year ago. However it wasn't the change in color that threw me off but rather a change in how bricks felt. Newer bricks felt a little softer and didn't snap as loudly as the older bricks. It was probably the time LEGO changed the plastic from batch of pre-dyed from one source to colorless from multiple supplied, while LEGO added their own dyes.
  18. Not all USA catalog has 10% off coupon. It was discussed on BL forum and someone mentioned calling LEGO about that. It seems only those who lived nearby (about 60 miles) got the coupon while those who lived too far didn't get any.
  19. someone figured out the machine and he has promised to post LDD file of it.
  20. Should have used a female minifig in that one oink oink!!
  21. So it was you after all... a while ago, the lights were flickering and becoming dim, like it did when someone used an old computer called ENIAC. I'd hate to see your electric bill when you finish that project, assuming your computer doesn't melt down first. Looks great so far
  22. Yeah those could be a problem. I am aware of that but the wheel base from 9v/RC/PF will not fit as those are fixed to LEGO gauge track and all of motorized cars as well. One would need to use either the wheel with technic axle or to use older wheel that are connected to a modified 2x4 brick, in order to make them fit narrow tracks. Plus I'd have to use 4.5v or 12v straight track since I don't think LEGO made flat straight version in 4 wide configuration. Only curve and the kooky roller coaster type straight.
  23. Worst case for you in Australia, take USA retail price and double that. Australia tended to be expensive, even though US $ is very weak these day and is almost dollar for dollar with AU $ It may be cheaper to buy one in USA and have it shipped to AU than to buy one in Australia. But do check the price first, then check USPS, UPS, and FedEx when the box size and weight becomes known to get a shipping estimate. If the box is too big, someone may have to de-box and repack in smaller box.
  24. This brings up a new question. If you have an unlisted set, and you try to walk out of the store with it, can you be charged for shoplifting? And how? If it's worth zero, the police may view the complaint oddly, and the judge may throw out the complaint because stealing a $0.00 item is absurd. If the item is not in the store's database, it could be viewed as the item does not belong to the store, thus taking it out is not "stealing" A can of worm if someone actually tries to take it out for free. PS I take no responsibility if you try it and get busted. It could still be illegal, subject to criminal and/or civil penalties, and you risk perma-ban from the store regardless of the case outcome.
