  1. While I was figuring my real MOC, I noticed there hadn't been any good looking man eating plant recently. I tried Google search but those I found were either too tall (like Audrey II from Little Shop of Horror), too much like dragon's head and neck, or similar to Super Mario Bros game. I wanted one that lies flat while waiting for a victim. So I decided to try one in LDD to get an idea how many pieces and how difficult to build one. All the pieces and color can be bought from BL except for 3x2 wedge plate, they are not available in dark green. Regular green is available but I forgot to change that in LDD. I choose dark green and dark red because it's similar to a common variety of venus fly trap, and added in yellow stripes for color. Missing are 2 long green tentacles (normally from Bionicle series, available in green from new Atlantis set) and maybe some fine tuning with tentacle placement and such. Maybe add a bait in the middle? LDD file: for your pleasure Use em in fantasy, sci-fi, adventure, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, etc. Dunno if someone designed one better or not but it's a good plant for eating anything that wanders too close.
  2. The smallest LEGO motor is also the rarest one as well, a tiny red motor that fits in a 2x2x2 brick area. It's also extremely slow, something like 20 or 30 rpm. The next smallest motor would be around 4x4x3 space and comes in 2 speed flavor. Faster one has weak torque, and other has strong torque but lower RPM.\ PF 'M' motor would be the next smallest motor and is currently in production so you could get it new easy.
  3. The last set I got was Shanghai Surprise (got it on sale $3), which sat unopened for more than 10 years. When I came back last year, I decided to sell it sealed. it sold for $30
  4. What's on PAB wall changes a lot, and while at my local store I could ask for other pieces it mostly depends on if they are busy or not, and if you have a friendly employee or not. You can try asking next time you visit the store, do try to get there early when there's a few customers. The only easy solution for PAB swap would be to make a list of (oh say,) top 10 most wanted pieces in specific color and style. Then hope someone finds em for you.
  5. 3D Star Wars? I'll watch that only after Lucas delete the Jabba scene in ANH, it's redundant since Greedo said mostly the same thing before he got blasted.
  6. +1 pedro fast shipping on AT-OT plus BP walker
  7. Probably to prevent someone from assembling a kit to sell cheap. Give it time, the instruction will show up eventually.
  8. Looks like those who ordered online got low numbered poster as yours the third time I've seen poster numbered under 300. Mine is in the 20,000 range (left it somewhere, can't find it atm) and it was from LEGO store locally. Which would suggest LEGO stores got higher numbered posters.
  9. Got it via DHL today. Almost completed reassembling the AT-OT walker, no missing piece so far. Will work on the carrier later tonight.
  10. That would be 4 feet give or take a quarter inch.
  11. I found someone's MOC of the Executor: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=425848 About similar size, I was able to count about 144 studs long. Better clear the biggest table and lock away any pets and little kids before working on this. It could be in the 4,000 pieces range.
  12. How big is the new UCS Executor going to be?? I looked at the picture (so I can drool while waiting a few more months for it to come out) and I decided to try to count the studs. I got around 150, the back part was hard to count. If it is about 150 studs long, the ship would be quite huge, about 4 feet long. *oh2*
  13. So it wasn't just me? I didn't remember this in LDD 3. When I rotate a brick while the POV is at default or lower (closer to baseplate), using left and right arrow key rotate the brick as expected while keeping the stud side up. But when I'm looking at higher POV (overhead for example), using the left or right arrow key doesn't rotate the brick the same way and my brick ends up on its side. This forced me to undo the flip, change the POV to rotate properly, then back overhead for hard to reach placement.
  14. part #3741, named stalk in LDD doesn't play nice with reality. I could cram 256 elements onto a single 16x16 to get the look of tall grassy field provided I make sure every other row the element is rotated 180 degree. (ignore black plate, I set it that way to make it easier to see) But if you try to place flowers on them in LDD, it gets collision issue everywhere and I can only place a few flower (#56750, named Flowerhead) mostly along the edge. This makes designing a flower bed a little hard. In reality I could probably use the same 256 stalks and place 768 flower elements onto it to design a "natural" mosaic like an image of a flag or a famous person. Even if I changed it to make it only every other row and every other column, flower still collides and still won't get placed. Maybe a way to set in LDD so collision detection is ignored when the flower head is placed on the stalk, under the assumption the individual stalk will bend around a bit in reality? EDIT: wrong picture for #2
  15. There are lots of alien and driods in SW universe, and we have something like 20 different alien minifig out. So i would like to see LEGO combine the concept of collectable minifig with SW universe to get us large variety of aliens that we could get without needing to buy the whole set.
  16. Know what would be really nice? If LEGO decided to make one series all SW minifig as there's lots of alien in SW universe.
  17. If you have a VIP card, use it. Almost works like a discount card excet you apply saving to the next purchase. $5 credit per $100 spent can add up a lot if you buy often. I've had a lifetime total of $110 earned credit since I applied for it last year May (1 year anniversary since coming out of the dark age BTW)
  18. There is one thing you could do before it gets recycled, find out if anyone wants em. Post it in the buy and sale section, offer it for free, person pays for shipping. If no taker after a while, recycle it. The only boxes I'm still keeping are from '70s and '80, the 6991 monorail box being the newest box I kept. Recent boxes are either cut up for display on wall or recycled.
  19. Yes thats the scene. It's in comic book adaption of the movie by Dark Knight. It would have been funny if that scene was left in and we get to see Wampa chasing snow troopers during the Empire's attack on the base.
  20. #1: the shadow has moved. Top picture had shadow touching the baseplate, second picture the shadow is about an inch away. :D
  21. One of the most original use for pod racer! =)
  22. Could I just soak the pieces in sink full of dish soap and hot water (140F, 60C top), then rinse? Brushing every pieces would take too long.
  23. http://www.flickr.co...ith/5650278989/ The size of that MOC boggles my mind. It's so big the set goes from floor to the ceiling. I'm afraid to ask how many bricks were used but it may be in the thousand pound (500+ kilo) range.Or how much moeny was spent! Geez... Just mind blowing huge...
  24. Not minifig but this forum is about customizing LEGO so I thought I'd ask here. I wanted to make red and orange leaves for a tree but since LEGO doesn't make them, I'd need to alter the existing part. Specifically the 6x5 leaf element. Option 1 was to paint. Seemed easy except it'd be hard to thoroughly clean around 100 leaf elements because it's fairly large with lots of holes. New part often contain minute trace of residue LEGO applied to mold to make the part pop out easy. Used part may be worse with dust, dirt, grime, and finger print oil. Without proper cleaning, paint may flake off, especially since the leaf element flexes easily. Option 2: vinyl dye. Except getting green to become red or orange would be a problem, it'd likely end up puke-brown. White leaf element cost a dollar each or more on BL so it gets expensive. SInce the part won't get played with much, can I just ignore the cleaning part and go directly to painting? I already have access to spray primer and paint. My bro loves playing dice based RPG games a lot, and makes many custom play ground for pewter minifig, so he has plenty of good paint and primer. Any advice?
  25. ask for gold chromed C-3PO. Maybe you'd get lucky they got a couple hiding somewhere. You could get a few sealed Shadow ArF trooper in a trade from a single shiny droid.
