[COR - Jan FB2] Surveying Celestia
Elostirion replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I still haven't commented on this wonderful MOC? Well, now I have! Your jungles just keep impressing me. The water and the beach (with the patches of kelp) are great as well, but that jungle man, that jungle! -
Licensing fees have always been subtracted for me, I don't know if the 50% were added to Eslandola, though. EDIT: Nevermind, I just checked. It IS broken. For September my expenses should be 125 DBs but are 0. For October it subtracted some of my expenses but not all, cannot explain how the numbers came along. Definitely not about a monopoly, though! Currently I am sitting at 9.000 DBs but should be sitting at ~5.300 or 5.700 if I remember correctly (especially the licensing costs of 2.4k for the Grand Road of Nellisa). Well, definitely broken. But it was not some days ago! EDIT2: The yields, however, seem to work out perfectly fine.

Captain Benajmin Morgan seems to become a true legend. Amazing! I would also have loved to see this scene MOCed. :-) -
Challenge V - Princes of Garvey - RESULTS POSTED!
Elostirion replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Bregir: Thanks for your elaborate response, that clarifies a lot. Thank you! One more additional question: Do those count towards any limitations per month (2 or 3 in one settlement, as recently discussed; btw. any results on that yet?) or are they independent of the normal licensing? The 2/3 per month should also apply to nations, shouldn't it?- 164 replies

Challenge V - Princes of Garvey - RESULTS POSTED!
Elostirion replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Damn. For some reason I would love to have an incentive to MOC in Mardierian settlements. I really like the idea of those. But no, Fontonajo is Eslandolan through an through, so ooc I am lookin forward to the time after the challenge when some others - of the losing side of Mardier of course - will MOC in Mardierian settlements. While I will enjoy my Eslandolan bonusses! Regarding bonusses for land based properties, are they added to or multiplied with current bonusses? e.g.: Commerce yields 20 % more for Eslandola, and challenge brings 15 % => Will that be a) 35% (20%+15%) or b) 38% (1,2 * 1,15)? e.g.: Minopoly on Cotton yields 50% more for MCTC and 30% from winning the challenge => Will that be a) 80% (50%+30%) or b) 95% (1,5 * 1,3)? Regarding the overall individual winner: How is the average calculated? - Do all five categories "weigh" the same or is there a different factor (e.g. 10% from category A, 30% from category B, etc.) - How is not entering in one of them calculated in? As 0 points / worst grade / ...? Or will the average of the other categories be calculated? Or in other words: Who wins? a) The person who enters a "very good" entry in all five categories or b) the person who enters a "very, very, very good" entry in only one category and misses the others? Regarding faction winners: * In case Eslandola wins: What happens to the Mardierian settlements on Isla de Victoria (de Many Names)? * The description says "in case of no decisive win" -> could you please disclose as to how that would be decided? Or at least have this clear beforehand within leadership (though I would love to have it as public knowledge as well). Like where is the threshhold? 5% more points for one of the sides? 50% more points? 10 more entries? 15 more quality entries? Really no clue at all! * In general to have some more knowledge about how the faction-winners are decided (regarding factions there has never been so much at stake like for Eslandola in this one, really) would be great to know. In theory what would happen if I submitted five horrible, absolutely horrible, entries for Mardier side? Would it harm them? I hope not, and am quite certain no Eslandolan would do that... but still knowing how things will be decided in general would be cool. * Who will own the microbuild licenses? The nation? Individual players? Or up to any nation to decide? * Do the free fort licenses include "free upkeep" as well, once there will be upkeep-rules? * I think it might be a bit non-motivating for the non-Eslandolans to fight for FIPs for their faction, when we all don't have a clue what they might be good for. I suggest to either disclose more on how those will be used in the future or change that price. At least it wouldn't motivate me at all. Licenses: * May challenge entries be used to license ships and/or properties? Cat. D strikes me in particular, that might result in some very nice smaller WR-ships for example, which people might want to license afterwards. Cat.A might display a small residence for example, Cat. C a ship, Cat. B a fort, etc. Not that this should be the main goal, but especially for large ships I think it would be cool to know if that is allowed. Overall I think this is a fantastic challenge, a nice disclosure on prices before it starts (great!), and a very creative way to resolve the war. Amazing work, leadership team! Thank you!- 164 replies

For me this brings up some points where the game could be improved even further: * We need war rules to win wars. I know that's a tough part, and the game has kind of overtaken itself in this regard, with the first war being started so early. But at some point we will need those rules. * There has never been a real announcement regarding all the Mardier Civil War things. I would love to read about the results and aftermath. * It would be great to know a bit more about NPC nation mechanics. Not every detail, but a general understanding. * We need some kind of transparency into NPC fleets, settlements, etc. if we are to make war with them. I don't say this has to be gifted, but at least there needs to be some kind of scouting mechanics so we could gain knowledge about the size of their fleets and forts. @kurigan: Reading what you write I think that what you currently are is a Sea Rat, and what you might want to become is an Oleander. However: Eslandola surely would warmly welcome you (at least I would for certain). But honestly, go for what you feel like. Maybe look at some of the MOCs of the nations in their respective threads.

So where does the 5 DB income come from? And the main question: Does it belong to Terreli (and should be zeroed) or does it actually belong to Nova Terreli and should be added there?
-
Maybe some of us can work together on a quick beginner's guide for new members? Important content probably: * Basic info about the game world * Choice of Nation (Ayrlego's descriptions are great. I like the idea of adding a typical quote or two for each of the nations, e.g. "Enough profit for the day? By no means!" for Eslandola) * Get started: Your own character * First steps (e.g. MOC a property, MOC a ship, get your free licenses, fill in the forms) * Basic idea of the EGS in 3 sentences. * Land based properties and settlements in 3-5 sentences * Ships and the MRCA in 3-5 sentences * Military rules in 3-5 sentences (not too much to say here) * Do's and Don'ts when getting started * Collection of important links Might also be written like a tutorial maybe.

"Thank you, Governor Damaximus", Fontonajo replied. "With someone of your grandeur taking the matter into his hands I feel that I have nothing to worry about anymore for the moment." "Speaking of conflict, though, my fellow councilmen, I would like us to openly discuss the further progression of our war with Mardier. I see that we have attacked each other at seas, that Mardier has raided our towns, and that we dispute about Isla de Victoria. But what is our goal? Where shall all of this lead us to? If Mardier started negotiating a ceasefire - or even better peace - with us right now, what would be our demands?" Román paused for a few seconds, before he continued: "Do not get me wrong. While I was against this war from the beginning and still am, I fully respect our national decision and am as much part of this war as any other Eslandolan. But in the world of business I do nothing without a goal in mind. Right now, I cannot see where this war might potentially lead us, what benefit awaits. So I ask you: What do you actually want?"

In the January sheet the settlement "Terreli" has had a monthly town bank income of 5 DBs for four months now. However being part of the old world, like Belson and Granoleon, it shouldn't have. I assume someone typed "Terreli" instaed of "Nova Terreli" in the freebuild or even the property license form. Is there a way to find out which MOC this is?

Settlement : Trador, La Sombra, Eslandola
Elostirion replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great map! It might need an explanation about light and dark green, though. Also reminds me that I will have to transform that prospecting scene into a mine. Maybe I will be able to do that within the next few days...- 56 replies

After a break, Fontonajo opened the next session: "Unsettling news have reached me about an Oleander settlement on hte island of Berreli! As many of you know the situation on the island still is unstable - only recently has my very person been attacked by a Mardierian assassin in our own town of Elysabethtown. An Oleander settlement might disturb the current balance of power between us, Corrington and the Ténotclaxcan. As Elysabethtown was founded and is administred by MAESTRO, I am looking towards you in particular, Lord Damaximus, but also to all other members in this hall - do you know any more about that settlement?"

I would personally love to see this conflict being resolved with ingame-storyline. I think it would be cool to give Maxim I, gedren_y and others potentially as well a chance to fight for - or against - claiming these islands. A build-off or a minichallenge for each of these islands, maybe? Maybe some of them will belong to Mardier, and some will belong to Eslandola? I would love to see us transfer OOC-conflicts into IC-challenges, because that might result in some fantastic MOCs and stories. And it would ensure that those debated islands would be filled with MOC-life. I also feel that would be quite fair to all arguments involved?

The "Castillo de Nova Terreli" from kabel was there from the very beginning and was considered "Royal Fortress". Makes sense, because Nova Terreli has been there long before the game started (in BoBS-history at least). However it was never licensed during the game.

The Naval Licensing and Prize Court
Elostirion replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
While I am quite sad that this decision is unfavourable to my fellow Eslandolans, I still think it's they right way. Else I would have MOCed six micro-ships of class 5 over the next weeks and would have licensed them all instantly, have (one of the) biggest private trading fleets - yet still the effort wouldn't have been comparable to the effort I had when I MOCed my 2T. Not saying your MOC isn't fantastic @Legostone (because it is!), but allowing that would really have opened up doors that shouldn't be open. -
