42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245
Vodnik replied to AndroTech's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, the auction is very well described and categorized, so bidders can only blame themselves... -
The commercial is official, but was stolen or in other way illegally obtained and published without the permission of TLG. It was not supposed to be published before September 4th and everyone who had access to it was legally obliged to keep it secret until this date.

To be honest I'm more and more disappointed with the X-wing wings design... Not only they don't form a single continuous surface when closed as they should (I already knew about it before though), but I now see that there is a one plate high gap between the front and rear (or upper and lower as we would call them in a classic X-wing design) wings... It is still a cool looking set, but those wings bother me a lot. I'm not sure yet whether to skip this set or get it and try to mod it...

That is October calendar. Don't we still have November and December ahead of us?...
-
Yup, there are only three (six if you count both sides) arrows: 1. shows that the bottom part of the wing folds inwards for landing 2. shows that the upper part of the wing extends upward 3. shows the movement of a small lever in external surface of the wing, used to extend the upper part of the wing (point 2.) So in effect arrow 2 and 3 show the same function. Nothing that would suggest folding out of the entire wing.

Yeah, it's a major fail from the TLG side... All the previous leaks were minor and largely outside of the TLG control, but this... Ouch... Disney will not be happy. Hopefully this fail will not have negative consequences on future Disney licenses for Lego...

Depends where you live... I bought mine in Warsaw, Poland last week. Theoretically it should become available some time in September.
-
Like the one you linked to a moment ago and then quickly removed?... Hypothetical arrows only show that the lower sections of the wings fold in for landing mode and that upper sections extend upwards. No arrow suggests that the entire wing tilts outward.

Search for "unboxing" type reviews, eg. on YouTube. They usually show all bags. My Town Hall is still sealed, so I cannot help you.

According to Groove Bricks the C-3PO polybag will be available in November... http://www.groovebricks.com/lego-late-2015-polybags-list-star-wars-episode-7-minifigs-and-more/

Okay, so you want to see TLG as new internet nazis and I see them as reasonable people who are trying to do some belated limited damage control on request from their powerful business partner. Anyway, I have no problem with it either way and fully understand the TLG request.
-
It also clearly states "information such as set number, set names and set pricing". I believe it means the contents of the sets can be discussed as long as it is not shown in pictures or called by set names.
-
Then read their requests again. They never asked for that.
-
Oh no, no, no! You are not allowed to say the "f..." word now! It is a part of the set name after all...
-
Nope, it is not separate, but there are recesses around it in the ball for neighboring studs.
-
That's the Jawa. There is no Vader in any form in the box, I checked.
-
Huh... Someone at TLG made a serious mistake. Look what I found at the side of the 75097 2015 Advent Calendar box: Of course it does not! I wrote to the TLG support asking about it. There will be a lot of disappointed kids, who hoped to find a Vader figure...

75097 Advent Calendar 2015! :)
-
Today in Warsaw, Poland: Of course I'm carrying one home now :)
-
There, fixed it for you :) As seems to be obvious from all other comments, the amount of humor in the review was perfectly right for most :)
-
I personally don't have much use for the Santa-3PO, but the printed legs from the Advent Calendar will nicely upgrade my Ewok Village or Droid Escape C-3PO to "UCS Sandcrawler C-3PO standard". And the head with printed eyes could be used to slightly improve one of the older C-3POs

I have it! I have it! I have it!!! Please excuse me... My first new Technic set in over 30 YEARS! Okay, I've built a couple of older sets in last few months (after going out of my Dark Ages about two years ago), but those were second hand used sets bought in large used Lego bundles and it's never the same pleasure as building a new set And I never built a motorized set, let alone an RC one! Can't wait to start building it - probably tomorrow!

Your Best Technic Bargains
Vodnik replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The topic title says "YOUR Best Technic Bargains" - for me any Technic purchase would be my best bargain, as I just made my FIRST new Technic set purchase (at least for my own use) But anyway, it was a pretty good deal: I just bought a new (although in a slightly damaged and opened box, but complete with all parts still in sealed bags) 42030 for 650 PLN, what is about 175 US$. For guys in the USA it is probably not a bargain, but MSRP for this set in Poland is 999.99 PLN (266 US$) and typically the online prices for the set start from 750 PLN ( 200 US$). By the way, it's not like I never had any Technic set, but I never bought any new one for myself before. As a kid I only had one Technic set I received as a gift (in early 1980s), but it was a BIG one: 8859 (well, at least is seemed HUGE to me back then). But is it loooong gone. In the last two years or so (after going out of my Dark Ages) I obtained a couple of large used Lego bundles and they included a few smaller Technic sets (largest being 8294 and 8386). They were missing some parts, but I bricklinked them complete (although my 8386 is missing stickers - the original ones were in very bad condition, so I removed them and new ones are so expensive at BL that I have no plans to buy them). Still the 42030 is the first NEW and LARGE set I will build since my childhood!
