I don't get it. If you're not a professional and reselling your own Lego for which you've *already* paid VAT (which you obviously can't deduct because you're not a pro/you don't have a VAT number), how on earth would you have to add VAT again? Is that even legal to enforce that? Bill are gonna rise by around 20% for Europe, that's gonna suck. (but good for Brickowl, I guess)

Back to this, I've reworked many things to use newly released/upcoming parts, I simplified the back a little and it now leaves room to strenghten that thing. I've used a different method (icecream cone), I don't know which one is sturdier. (removed pic to make room) Lego's upcoming AT-AT is gonna bring us useful parts, like the new pointy wedge plate in LBG, it'll remove 2 studs from the side plates. And the recent 4x4 dish with hollow stud, now in LBG as well. Because Scala dishes just can't be found in LBG anymore, and because classic dishes have a better shape anyway, they're gonna look smaller but better.

I know, but this can't apply here. From this shot I see that it's the same structure inside as well. It's way more similar in the spine than visually. Again, there have been many AT-ST's, Lego's own, BrickDoctor's being the first good one (that I know of), then hobocamp's on Lego Ideas, then Northern Lego's, Bert Van Raemdonck's, BrickVault's (& I'm probably forgetting some), same model and yet they all have nothing in common. I see ldd_modelmaker's one based the body on an old version of mine, but all the rest has nothing to do with it so it's all good. And I don't mind copying specific details either, sometimes there's only one best way to do it. I've used an inverted tire around the neck because BrickDoctor's one has it. But if you try to design your own head structure & legs, you'll see that you'll spend countless hours - not on the result, but on what didn't work, on paths that lead to nowhere. When I started mine (which now sucks by today's standards btw, but it was my first version), no one had done the inter-legs bars yet, so it wasn't a given yet that high-friction extenders would be able to hold the thing. And yes it's very difficult not to be similar to others, especially now that there are many models, but if you start fresh & with today's parts, you may get better results. If I was starting over I'd probably make the head's side plates brick-based, for ex. That's if you wanna make it entirely your own & share the instructions btw, because obviously I have no problem with mods & I encourage them. (not counting that it's never fun when I'm then the one being accused of having copied a model that's heavily based on mine, but got more exposure)

It's great and I like it, but I would prefer you don't share the instructions if you don't mind, as I still see the entire inner structure of mine for which I'm still selling the instructions (& which I'm still updating btw - august's SW releases will bring us useful new LBG parts). Unless of course you can turn it into a modification instructions, but since it's also DBG recolor of the spine it'd be hard. Or perhaps Rebrickable should get a new feature to allow for modifications instructions, requiring owning the base one(s)? I don't mind if you base your redesign on an older version of mine, though. Like, up to 2.4 which was significantly different. I've been updating this model for years, you can understand that no one comes up with all these solutions overnight. Many ways to design an AT-ST. Like, BrickVault's one just came out and I give props the designer for not having copied anything of mine. Especially when I thought I had exhausted all the possible designs, it had to be hard to come up with something entirely different that still looks good.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
anothergol replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
The only time I ordered a part that had the wrong price, it was mini-legs and they were like 5 cents, which wasn't so unrealistic (could have been seen as a bargain), they definitely charged me the full fixed price. Lego just has to make the default price 0 cents, so that their shop can spot that & simply not display parts with no price. It's cheating when you know it's the wrong price (& you do). It's of course not illegal, but still cheating the system. And yes, Lego definitely shouldn't charge more behind your back without warning - both sides are guilty here. -

If you buy too obviously wrongly priced parts, make sure you pay with Paypal. Through VISA they will definitely make you pay the fixed price. Paypal I don't know, I would assume the checkout price is reserved and they can't make you pay more. Even at 2 cents (all the other golden parts had already been fixed) I only got 4 of the golden bananas because.. what do you even do with that? (plus it's a dark, not very shiny gold, it feels weird. Better than plastic gold, but still..) How are you not? You obviously are. And obviously it's not gonna affect Lego in any significant way, but it's still cheating the system. -

I doubt it, no BL shop would be able to resell these that already cost too much. These initial prices are for collectors, those who will only add one to their order, just to have one. Which makes sense for licensed stuff, but not these utility parts. You also haven't seen the first 3, they're new recolors. -

Cool new parts, but only 3 aren't priced for collectors. My order will wait for august, then. -

Studio isn't amazing, but it's still the second best out there - because other than it & the LDD, none is really "usable". I still find the LDD way more usable, but it's mainly due to 1. finding the parts better - but I can't blame Studio for the way it sorts parts, LDD's sorting generally makes zero sense, I'm just used to it 2. moving around the model & replacing parts more easily. Right-clicking to center the view is KEY, the function you use the most shouldn't be done through a menu. Not counting that moving around is too fast/sensitive in Studio. And Studio's auto-snapping is inferior to LDD's. And I won't mention tube-bending, which was already not working very great in the LDD, in Studio it's just unusable (pretty much the same as when it was not there). ..but Studio is still invaluable when it comes to rendering, & producing manuals (which is also more painful than it should be, but the results are pro). I think Studio should get an "LDD mode" option. Fixing what I've mentioned, plus inverting the rotating keys like in the LDD. But to me (& since the LDD has been broken open for more parts), as long as there's interoperability between both apps, it's fine. I was surprised the other day to find out that Studio could ALSO export to the LDD. -

Don't edit an order, make sure your shopping cart is empty, then only enter B&P & fill it. Yes, in one go - no mistake, once it's in your cart you can't edit it. Even if you "edit" and then empty your shopping cart, it will still loop-bug, because the origin of your B&P list won't be a fresh one. -

"Tubbz" recently had to make a similar choice. I don't think that really works. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/ghostbusters/images/3/32/PromoImageOfTubbzGhostbustersTeamByRubberRoadLtdSc01.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20190816181403 I think that Lego could have kept yellow for white people, and go for all shades of yellow (=brown). I mean come on, it worked for the Simpsons. -

I don't think it's a protection - images were broken on B&P itself yesterday. -

Oh I have, I cleared my shopping cart, switched browser (FF to Chrome), try to add just 1 part, same endless loop. Meanwhile I'm slowly watching stuff go out of stock. It HAS to be working for some :( Ah, I get it. As soon as you use a link to an existing, saved B&P cart (like, you saved your link, or you "edit" from your Lego cart), there you get the infinite loop. You have to start fresh, with a fresh B&P link, an empty cart, and pray. Edit: my prayers didn't work. Imagine the time it takes to retype this, only to be granted with "Bricks&Pieces is currently unavailable" :( And of course my cart isn't saved, since it's what makes it loop-hang. They bought Bricklink, and we still have to suffer with this piece of crap. -

Not really, is it? Still missing 3/4 of the images, and still in an endless loop when trying to convert to shopping cart :( -

I think the lot limit is when you call, and there's also a limit of parts per lot, but no real limit in practice - this is certainly not my biggest order (if it ever passes. And it sucks that I'm watching some parts going out of stock as time passes) -

Veeeery buggy at the moment, with 3/4 of the thumbnails missing. I would wait until tomorrow, but nah, of course that nasty time-out is still there and I will lose everything (even though I'm taking screen captures every minute). It's also still as scary as before, especially with that NASTY top bar that pops up all the time, trying to lure you into clicking it by mistake and losing your cart. Lego bought Bricklink and instead of a nice, working, rock-solid official BL shop, we got this :( (but hey, I'm glad it's back. I thought Lego really didn't want our money) Edit: ah, what was I thinking? Access denied when trying to order. 90+ lots to re-type tomorrow :( -
While I'm at it, I also tried to improve the AT-AT using today's parts. I was hoping to make it more solid (those who have built it know how flimsy some sections are), but nothing helped. I could however improve the front guns (used to be a T-bar with 2 clip+bar), the guns are still too short, but I still think it looks better. Also used the new triangle roof tiles, not sure it's really better than the old ingot, it may be too big. Also we now have the new version of the 1x4 plate with 2 studs, now with a groove. Because there's a stud inversion on the side plates, puting 2 together creates a nice indent that's required there.
-
Oh flipping them wouldn't require linking them, it's still the same (canon) bar through the whole thing, but the reason I made it this way (I don't like the stud either) is that the side things of the snowspeeder are kinda hollow (well they have a grille, and definitely appear dark). Yes I was using an ingot in the first versions, and yeah for that reason that they match the roof of the snowspeeder, but the little indent right before the front canopy is kinda ugly. But yeah, it works too, hard to decide.
-
I expanded on 4, but reverted to the 2x4 wedge plates, because the 2x3 makes the slope start past the middle of the cockpit, while it should start near the back. I also went for a stack of 3x 1x2 round plates, as 3 are only slightly larger than the previous 2 half-beams (which are slightly thicker than a plate). (these new parts are great to angle such things btw)
-
Yeah, for this render (part of the decals for my nano-scaled AT-AT, which no one seems to be able to print very accurately) Yeah I think 4 works the best. I know which panels you're talking about, and these too now exist in LBG, only I kinda dislike most technic panels because of the ugly molding mark they expose - maybe Lego doesn't care because they're generally covered in stickers, but at this scale, they stand out :( But I believe I've seen them used on a micro snowspeeder already. Good idea with the round+bar parts, just gave it a quick try but they're kinda big to fit. 1x2 plate with pin hole can't really work, as you'd need something to attach them to in the body (unless they're only there for decoration, which I've also tried, but it was troubles)
-
The last 2 years brought us 1x1 brackets, 1x2 rounded plates and recolors that should have helped improving my old nano-Snowspeeder, so I gave it a try, only I'm not sure which one is better: -while the new 2x4 wedge plate is only to be released in LBG in the next AT-AT, I don't think it makes better wings. But perhaps a good old 2x3+a tile does? Looks a bit chibi, but it's a closer match to the angle of the "real" wings. -I'm only happy with the cockpit & front section, lots of ways to craft the back, with pro's & con's -6. is a new approach that the recent 1x2 slopes with flat top made possible. But while it's more accurate, it doesn't look as good to me
-
Ironically, other products labelled as "18+" would totally embarrass people. If this is Lego testing the market, to later give us what China does, that is stuff really made for adults, all the adult licenses we've been missing, etc, then yeah I'm all for it. But if it's just Lego's way of telling "yeah we also make toys for adults" and not go further, then who cares.. When you're still young enough that you're insecure and wanna be an adult, the last thing you want to be associated to is Lego.

be careful, when Lego fixes/updates a price behind your back, it's that price you end up paying. -

Really? It's a pretty huge update for me, all of the parts I was waiting for are now available.
