I have been always tempted to get the Death Star then I always thought "with the same money I can get a lot of SW sets". I don't know if I made the right decision, though Enjoy its construction
-
Sounds a very good idea The only problem is even if they reach 10K there is the opinion of the "committee" (I forgot the official designation ) and if they currently think it's not in their interest to produce more LOTR sets they won't approve them. However, like you said, it will show TLG how many fan are still interested in the theme and it can make them to reconsider their decision on the future on LOTR/The Hobbit sets. It's worth a try... After all, until there is a chance, there is hope

I think the limit is per "client/household", unless I'm mistaken So once you reached the limit I think you can't buy more of them. I understand the reason of their policy but they are battle packs, they are meant to be bought in numbers. The same with Minifigures series: you can order 16 of them but you clearly can't complete your collection and so you have to buy from other stores. If TLG want to prevent "speculations" (namely persons buying large quantity of items to resell them on ebay or wherever) they should rise those limits. If I can buy them from Lego shop I don't have to buy from those others stores Just my opinion. I usually like TLG policies since they are a reliable, efficient and costumer friendly company, so the above it's just a little suggestion
-
I like them too Sadly Lego shop has a 5 boxes limit and that means I have to search around for more packs. Anyway I noticed they cost less than 2014 Battle packs, not bad
-
Understood but it should have been available on 1st January alongside with the Detective office. There are also links to Minifigures Series 13 and Ultra Agents sets (for example) but they lead to "product not available" page. They are available on US store though. Anyway, I guess all will become available soon, Slave I and other SW sets as well
-
Is there a reason the Slave One can't be ordered yet from Lego Shop? At least on my country. I go to the homepage, I see the banner, I click on it but it still listed "coming soon" but today is already 1st January. Anyway, let's see if on 5th (when the VIP promotion takes place) it can be ordered

How is the Stormtroopers BP? It seems 2015 will see several battle packs and that's a very good thing. I hope I'll be able to bring my Clone Army to 300 units (well I have to double their current number)
-
That's nice to know I'm thinking about getting it but I have a couple of ongoing projects and perhaps I should take the sets I need before they are sold out while the Slave I should be still around in the next couple of months Anyway I'm glad to know it looks awesome in the flesh or, we could say, "in the plastic" or "in the bricks"
-
Where I live the chance for early releases are nonexistent. I don't even have the chance to "pre release" "previews" I wish I had I mean to see the set in person before it is released
-
Today I was at supermarket and I saw they had one last 75028 on the shelves. I'm not a huge fan of Microfighters but I have been always curious about the "micro Clone Turbo Tank" and so I bought it

It's not that uncommon Amazon (at least in Europe) had it discounted of about 30%, If I recall correctly, until the start of Christmas holidays.

Hello fellow AFOL Few days ago I decided to build something with the content of 21116 Crafting Box. I wanted to follow my "builder instinct" No instructions. I ended up building a sort of bridge. It looked suited for some Fantasy scene. I added few more bricks and I created this little MOC. I know it's not a great one but I had very limited resources for this project. Also this is my first MOC after a very long (about 10 years) absence from the Lego hobby, so any comment, feedback, criticism is highly appreciated. Anyway, here is a background story" for the diorama: "The Elves rule the Kingdom with wisdom and justice, bringing order and peace among the Land. Or so they claim. There are those who consider them invaders forcing their traditions and believes on the subjugated populations. Sometimes it’s hard to discern the hero from the villain, the savior from the conqueror. When doubt and contempt are paired with weapons and powerful magic, it can mean only one thing: war. The number of the insurgents grows each day. Operating clandestinely to avoid the inquisitive scrutiny of the “Open Eye”, one of the most dreaded Elven organizations, they fight to overthrow the current rulers. In a desperate attempt to capture the Elf Queen and force the Monarchy to sign a treaty, the rebels hired the infamous outlaw known as “Golden Terror” and the legendary “Clumsy Ninja”. By skills, bribes and a lot of luck they managed to sneak inside the “Temple of Five Seasons”. Relying on greater numbers the rebels plan to succeed but it won’t be an easy task. The Queen’s guard is one of the most skillful warriors, wielding a weapon that is stuff of legend and the Queen herself is a powerful mage. Who will prevail in this epic confrontation? " You can see more, high resolution, photos on my blog MOC: Protecting the Queen

79018 "The Lonely Mountain": What do you think?
BrickSev replied to BrickSev's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Smaug was indeed the first thing that caught my attention, then I noticed the rare sand green and gold and the fact the whole could even fit a little project I have in mind In 2015 there will be a new dragon. It's not a molded creature but an actual set. It's 31032 Red Creatures but it is smaller and it does not look as impressive as Smaug. However it can be nice for any Fantasy fan who wants an "army" of dragons 3-5 small dragons led by a larger dragon like Smaug can be an entertaining sight When I place the next order I'll decide what to do. Right now I'm very inclined toward ordering it, especially since it seems LOTR/The Hobbit themes are about to be discontinued. In the mean I'll try to look around to see if I find at a discounted price- 15 replies

79018 "The Lonely Mountain": What do you think?
BrickSev replied to BrickSev's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It makes sense. The "major" complain I heard is not about the sets being modular but about the fact the throne in 79018 comes without its king. In other words, they could have made a different selection of Minifigures for 79018, still using the "modular" approach. That's what I heard from several persons who bought the set- 15 replies

Me too. I never give up hope but since they disappeared from the new catalogue I guess they will be retiring this year. Anyway until we find them on the shelves, we can still acquire few more sets
-
No problem The first time I read about that it was on a brickipedia article, then, if I'm not mistaken, someone reported neither LOTR nor The Hobbit themes are in the next Lego catalogue; suggesting those themes are about to be discontinued. Personally I really hope Lego will continue to produce some fantasy theme; I mean "real" Lego theme not those "doll figures" elves we heard about

79018 "The Lonely Mountain": What do you think?
BrickSev replied to BrickSev's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks for the detailed info. I don't count on S@H to discount it and I haven't find it at a very discounted price in other stores. I have to say Lonely Mountain looks far more appealing that BOFA. Both are indeed overpriced but Lonely Mountain gives us a very nice dragon However, like you said, BOFA is needed if we want to acquire certain Minifigures It's 129,99€ at "Italian section" of Lego shop. I use section because sets are all shipped by the same place, so it's not a "local store", just a "section" of the site. That always make me wonder why price vary from country to country, especially among those with the same currency, € in our case. I know it's nothing neither new, nor uncommon but it's still very puzzling. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. I'll try to find it a discounted price but it's not easy. Right now the only discount I can get is with my VIP points, which is not bad, though- 15 replies

Indeed and I'd say even more: it gives us the chance to create our own stories, our own universe Nothing helps us telling our stories like Lego. Good luck with your army and remember to post some photos. It does not matter if it's a small squad or an entire sector army, everything we make with our Lego is worth to be shared I'm building a Clone Army too and as soon as I build the last Kashyyyk battle packs and gather all my vehicles together for a photo, I'll share it as well. Alongside a very small Droid army: mostly made with the droids I got in the sets I bought for the Clones. I'm not a huge fan of Separatist armies, I prefer clones

You brilliantly created a visual representation of the "abstract" concept. Well done. Congratulations

79018 "The Lonely Mountain": What do you think?
BrickSev replied to BrickSev's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Really?! Wow! It's one of my Lego dreams to put a valiant warrior on a badass dragon (and the other dragon figures are not as impressive as Smaug) and create epic tales (namely MOCs, diorama, comics etc ) about it. Thank you for the info. Another reason to buy the set- 15 replies

79018 "The Lonely Mountain": What do you think?
BrickSev replied to BrickSev's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thank you for the very detailed analysis. I too think Smaug is "responsible" for the price but it's indeed an impressive brick-built figure and I'm sure it has an increased production cost. The dwarf armors are really impressive. The first pics I saw didn't make them justice but when I looked at other pics (I noticed sometimes the photos on Lego shop fail to show certain sets in all their glory) I noticed how fantastic they are. Considering the fact it appears we won't get new LOTR/The Hobbit sets soon, I'm really thinking about putting it in my next order. I know in the very moment it becomes sold out I'll feel to really, really want it- 15 replies

79018 "The Lonely Mountain": What do you think?
BrickSev replied to BrickSev's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thank you Discount would be a little problematic lol. Right now my best choices (calculating set and shipping cost) is Lego shop. I have my VIP discount though I'm very impressed by Smaug. When I read its size for the first time I thought it was a mistake. It looks magnificent. Now, if it would be possible to put a Minifigure on its back it would be amazing. A warrior riding such magnificent dragon in battle It's nice to see 79012 is a good army builder and it builds two armies. The elves may need some modification (just to now have to many crowns in a single army) but I have several helmets around Thank you again- 15 replies

BrickSev replied to BrickSev's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thank you for the info Do you think Smaug alone justify the price? 79012 does not seem a perfect defense line but it can help army building: Elf and orcs, included "cavalry" of some sort- 15 replies

Hello fellow AFOL Merry Christmas to everyone I'd need your opinion about 79018 "The Lonely Mountain" set. Is it a set worth to buy? I always looked it with interested by it has a quite high cost per brick and several persons said it's overpriced for what we get. Smaug figure looks so interesting, though What do you think about it? Also, I was thinking about buying 3 79012 Mirkwood Elf army to build a little "fortress" and two small armies. If I'm not mistaken we can connect several 79012 together. Am I correct? Is it a good set for what a plan to do? Thank you very much for your help
