I'm very interesting in this set. I have the previous Slave I (8097) but I'm truly considering to buy this one as well. I have still to decide whether buy this or the Sandcrawler as my next UCS. Decisions, decisions I'll give a look at that video reviews soon. I really like detailed reviews but sometimes, when I'm very busy, I wish there were "quicker" reviews Btw from what I saw I can tell the instruction manual is a wonderful collectible itself.

Hello fellow AFOL I'd like to share with you a little scene/diorama I made. It's a very simple one but I find it... well "curious" and, hopefully , original. I made a YouTube video about it I wanted to share few pics here but I having difficulties in reducing the size my photos without making them "too small" I moved to Mac after have been a Windows user for many years and this the first time I'm dealing with "resizing" photos since the day I bought my Mac. In the meantime I thought to share my video with you. It's just a little thing, nothing compared with the super detailed dioramas I saw here. I made it just because I thought I could be "cool" to put Clones there in a completely "continuity free", "not canonical" scene. Also, I never liked Jabba so I didn't want to let him the command of the Barge. Dear, Jabba: my set, my rules Like I said, just for fun Let me me know what you think.

Next year BPs should be Geonosis Clone Troopers (they look cool in the "desert camo ) Senate guard and Stormtroopers. I think the first is going to be the new "Kashyyyk Troopers": 4 clones in cool armor with a decent vehicle. Even though I think many will still prefer 75035 because those clones appeared in Episode III Stormtroopers pack is interesting. Plain white armor for our mods and customs Not exactly "Republic" Clones but after all they are just a sort of Phase III armor. Lego is much cheaper in US. Here in Europe most sets costs even more. I have always been curious to know why. I mean Lego is a company based in Europe. Perhaps it's due to the manufacturing locations, I don't know. Also the only other ground vehicle micro-fighter is the AAT which is a bit overpriced since for the same price we get a droid instead of a proper Minifigure. It's a droid pilot, though, which we can find in the Vulture. I have been lucky and I found 75041 Vulture Droid at 30% discount. I bought 2 of them. They are more impressive than I thought and surely a great improvement compared to the one released in 2005 Thanks I have a lot of ongoing projects. I have been away from the hobby for a long time and now I have so many projects. Most of them, well nearly all of them , feature Lego Star Wars.

The scale difference is indeed as great as I suspected. Perhaps it may look better in a wider scene, with the castle placed at a greater distance but the styles don't "merge" very well. Mine was just an impromptu idea Is it possible it works better with other sets like Helm's deep or multiple 79007 Black gates to functions as walls? Just another impromptu idea I throw in Btw the tower is really impressive. I'm thinking about getting it and forget about the castle. Most impressive set.

Thank you I know there are armies with thousand clones around. If I'm not mistaken the current record is 89K! But I'm pleased to have my growing army I'll post pics as soon as I complete to build the last 75035 sets I bought. It is built around a core of 20 7035 sets. In my last Lego Star Wars "acquisition" I bought 10 of them from Lego Shop and the AT-PT so I have Commander Gree as well One of my projects is about creating a what I call a "Grand Brick Army". Just a continuity-free Sci-Fi army with Clones, droids, Old Republic and Sith troopers all together with even alien allies (Wookies, Ewoks, etc) I know many persons prefer to stay close to continuity but I think the most interesting aspect of Lego is the ability to create our own universe

I love Clone Troopers Minifigures :I'm building a Clone Army right now (It's no very huge, just about 120 Clones and about 40 vehicles but it's growing) However like you said it's a bit overpriced (retail price here is 9.99€, which is even more the price on US market) I have the first "standard" size Clone Turbo Tank so I too thought the micro tank could go unnoticed among my collection. However when you mentioned "little race cars with guns" you gave me an idea Perhaps they could be used for some little Brickfilm. Their size would make filming easy (easier to move around ) and they "micro" size to add a funny factor to the scene. It may be worth a try. Any other micro-fighter you would suggest for the "little race cars with guns" thing? Thank you very much for the info :) and inspiration. If I'll ever make that little Brickfilm I'll give you credits for the inspiration

The loss of my old castles is really sad. I know in nearly 25 years sets became more detailed but they were among my first Lego sets. I'd love to make a MOC castle. Sadly I have a great difficulty in finding bricks. Lego shop does not sell every brick and here in Italy there aren't many shops selling "loose bricks". Ordering from USA is prohibitive (due to shipping costs, taxes etc) If there is such a shop based in EU it would be great. Orthanc is impressive! It is on my "to buy asap list" Btw what price is to be considered decent for 70404? I found one at about 90€, thus with a 10% discount only. I thought the same thing: if there is a new release chances are we'll get something better sooner or later. I don't have the castle too but from the pics I saw it does not have a "wow factor" like Orthanc set, for example. I know many sets look better when she have them in our hands, though. I once read something about Lego LOTR will be discontinued in 2015. I don't know if it's accurate, if they will make new sets or if the news were about the old sets and not the theme. Helm's Deep is a very interesting set. I should give a look around and see if I can find it at a decent price The problem with building my own castle is it will take resources from my current projects. One day I'll start to build my own castle/fortress, hopefully something I can use within "historic themes" and beyond

Very nice indeed. There is a great "continuity" in the walls and it looks like they come from the same set. Thank you for sharing those pics. Regarding the tower: well it's very tall 28" ( 72/73 cm) high. An explanation of its presence could be found They built the castle around a much older tower, a building with a high historical/mythologic value for that society. However I think it may not "blend" well with the style and color of the other sets. Not to mention the height issue.
-
Very interesting idea. I'm looking at photos, so I don't have a direct knowledge but they do seem clearly modular. Well, I think I'm just getting a little ambitious. What about adding the 10237 I mentioned above to 70404 and a couple of 70402? 10237 doesn't even need to be "implemented" into the other buildings but could be put in the middle of the 70404 to represent the central tower, the core of the castle itself. Unless it is too high compared to the scale of the other sets.

I have been away from Lego world for a while and I missed a lot of great sets. I have doubts about 70404 for the same reason. I was thinking about getting 10237 ( Tower of Orthanc) from Lord of the Rings theme even though it's a "tower" and not a castle because of my doubts on 70404. Sadly they are restocking on Lego shop and it's very hard to find in other places (at least at the retail price). I only saw pics online so my knowledge on the set is not very detailed I'd like a Castle with a good "display value" and with the capability to be used as set for diorama, comics, eventually Brickfilm etc. If possible, of course What I find important is for the castle to at least look nice on display. EDIT: If it's an improvement compared to the very old castles, then there may be a reason for my to buy it. I'm being "tempted" by the LOTR tower, though Not a castle but perhaps it's not too difficult to build a castle (like adding walls etc) around it. Did anyone already try it?

Hello, I recently noticed the 70404 King's Castle set is officially sold out on Lego Shop (at least when I select my country, Italy) I saw it on a online store with a marginal (about 10%) discount and I was wondering if the set is worth. I grew up with Lego castle theme (the very old one ) but sadly my old castles have been destroyed during the years. Very unfortunate, since I loved that sets and it appears most of their pieces have been lost. They only Lego sets I lost, for the records So I'd really like to get a castle back in my collection but on many reviews of 70404 I read they mentioned a vast use of "junior" bricks that make the building to appear a little "simplistic". What is your opinion? Do you suggest to buy it until it's still around or to wait for a new set to be released one day? Thank you very much for your assistance.

How is the MicroFighter Clone Turbo? MicroFighters never had a huge "Wow factor" for me but I never had them in my hands, so my opinion is based only on the pics I saw
-
Tough call indeed. 7965's front seems "slimmer" and the overall set "larger" (the latter due to the higher number of pieces) The design looks very similar. Very tough call. 7965 is a great set and if I hadn't 4504 I would have already bought it but even I prefer to get those sets I don't already have. Thank you for posting the comparison photo

Thank you I already have a couple of ideas about some diorama/scene for it. Thank you I know I'll get the Detective office too. The interesting fact about modular buildings is you can use them not only for "city scenes". If you don't mind too much about "continuity issues" (and honestly the fun of Lego comes from not caring too much about it ) you can use them for all your favorite themes. I know I'll use the PR as set for several, hopefully funny, Sci-Fi scenes as well.
-
I was thinking about the 7965 too. The fact is I already have the 4504 and I don't know if I'll end with just an "upgraded" copy of the Falcon I already have. The 10179 is another story of course Would you suggest the 7965 anyway?

Well I guess it is a must I'm mostly a Lego Star Wars collector but I do love to build a little town ( I like a certain degree of variety ) and surely I love a stylish set. I got mine just few minutes ago (super fast delivery, like always with Lego shop) I can't wait to start building it. I appreciated the "classic quote" it's really difficult to resist. I think I'll get the Detective office as soon as it is released. Those set will be assimilated, and "assembled" , into my collection.

Impressive! Most impressive! I really like the "functionality": the vehicle's ability to carry troops (and not just few, but a more realistic number) the "exit ramp" etc. Brilliant concept, indeed. Congratulations. Keep up the great work.

Last week I placed an order on Lego Shop of several Lego Star Wars sets. 75043 AT-AP 10 75035 Kashyyk Troopers (I'm expanding my Clone Army ) 3 75001 Republic Troopers vs Sith Troopers (I think I won't have enough "bodies" for an actual Old Republic/ Sith army, so I either use them for some diorama or I use them for my "Brick Army" army project Namely a "continuity-free" Science Fiction army) Few days before I found 8097 Slave I in a local shop at a very interesting price and so I bought it.
-
It seems the Parisian Restaurant only gets positive opinions I'm glad I ordered mine. I can't wait. I have a lot of Lego sets waiting to be built but I'm thinking to put it on the top of the list
-
You made a good deal. The "average" cost for 1074 in UK is about 198£ so you saved on the price it has on the market If you plan to build it, the box's shape is not so important. Personally I think I could never be an "investor" since every time I buy a Lego set I have to build it, I can't resist The Millennium Falcon easily go beyond the 3000 in any currency you chose I saw one at 3000£, another at 5000€. If you look at the Lego investment sites it is listed about 3560$ / 1999£ / 2828€ depending on market. It appears in the USA it is sold at higher prices.

In the old Expanded Universe ( and with old I mean novels, comics etc released during the years) the war continued for a while: New Republic (the log is similar to the Alliance's one, if I'm not mistaken) vs "Imperial Remnant" To be honest I've never been a huge fan of post-ROTJ Expanded Universe. I prefer Clone Wars/Old Republic one but I hope the new Trilogy will be amazing. In any case I'm sure it will give us wonderful Lego sets, so all is fine EDIT: typo corrected

I know that feeling I find very hard to stop buying them. I also know what you mean about the older stuff. I have been a Lego collector for nearly most of my life (started about 25 years ago) but I had a quite long absence from the hobby and during it they released the best, most sought after Lego set: the 10179 Millennium Falcon How much did you pay for the 10174? If I'm not indiscreet

Thank you very much for the info I looked at many pictures of the various modular buildings and I agree with you: it has an amazing level of details. I think among the currently available modular buildings it is the one with highest number of pieces I did even better Ordered from Lego Shop with the current 5% discount plus 20€ of VIP discount. I paid the set (without count shipping, of course) about 122€ I'm so pleased with that deal and I can't wait to start building it. I can't wait to start building. The photos I saw around seem to suggest it is indeed a great set and since most of the best Lego sets are even better when we see them "in person" I have high expectations for the Parisian I noticed the "roof section" potentialities as soon I saw the set and we can detach it from the main building at will. It can surely help. Brickfilming is just one of the many projects I'm currently working on, so if it appears the Restaurant is an uneasy set, I can still use it for dioramas and comics. It's indeed such a beautiful set It would be a shame not to add it to my collection I think I would have regretted it, if I didn't get it before it is sold out. Thank you to everyone for your advices. They have been very helpful I'll post pics of the set as soon as possible, including several projects that will feature it

Thank you very much for you reply The "sidewalls part" is the problem I was thinking about, but if they can be easily "dismantled" (and then reassembled ) it will make filming on the inside easier. What made me think about buying this set is the fact it can "host" a lot of scenes. With some imagination and few "add on" it can even used for Sci-Fi settings. Not too mention everything from "modern life" even an action movie. Thank you again for the info
